Advantages: great feel and distance Disadvantages: cost
...I have been playing golf for 15 years and always play with a Titleist ball. It's something of a habit, but the ball suits my game. In cold wet conditions I'll play with the pts wound ball, and in dry summer conditions the professional balata. That was until I tried the newest product from Titleist, the proV1.
It is the tour professionals choice of ball combining both distance and feel.It is longer off the tee than the balata ball but gets enormous spin around the green.
I'm not sure how Titleist have done it, but I was amazed at the extra length I got off the tee and the control and spin I got around the green. Putting with it is a dream, the ball doesn't fly off the putter like the wound ball.
At the moment the cost of the ball will put off all but the most accomplished golfer, at £35 a dozen you don't really want to 'lose' a ball...

Advantages: Distance and spin are exceptional! Disadvantages: a little bit pricey to lose!
...This is one of the best balls out there especially for the lower handicap player who requires that little bit extra distance as well as the 'stop and drop' ability around the greens. I used to use the TitleistProV1 before switching to this as it was awesome around the greens but i moved to the ProV1X because it is slightly harder, thus reducing the amount of spin on the ball and giving me around 10 yards more distance and by keeping my ball around 5 yards straighter.
I hit the ball pretty hard and I think this is one of the reasons why the ProV1X suits my game. I also have a pretty tidy short game and I find that harder balls run about 5-10 feet past the hole instead of getting the amount of check spin I get with these.
Even though it is aimed at the more advanced level the only reason I suggest it for the low hanicapper is because...

Advantages: Great name in golf balls Disadvantages: Not really for high handicappers
...I'm not really into the science of golf balls, all I know is that there are good balls and not so good balls. I wouldn't play with golf balls that cost 20p per ball such as Donnay because they don't feel nice to hit and yes on the golf course you just don't use Donnay to play low rounds and in tourneys.
I tried a titleistProV1X today in a Stableford tourney off white tees so I had a little extra yardage to play, I mostly use Titleist PTS Solo because they are designed for mid to high handicappers, and I can hit them, so they work for me. Titleist have brought out this new breed of ball, and as i said I don't know the science so i'm not going to say there is this and there is that, etc. All i know is that these balls are designed to cut out spin, have a lower flight and create more distance, however, I never saw any of that. To me...

Titleist Pro V1 Professional Refinished Golf Balls Available in Pro V1 or Pro v1x and in boxes of 1 or 2 dozen. Incredible value. These balls are professionally refinished golf balls; in perfect condition and play and look like new. This premier golf ball is the choice of the majority of PGA tour players. All White.
Advantages: the pro v1 is a very good ball and as well as beeing a good performing ball it aspires confidence its a favorate amongst club players and i would recomend it to most golfer BUT if would also recomend trying out the NXT titleist balls before paying £40 Disadvantages: the pro v 1 is very expensive andwill not drop in pirce for sum time
...Yes the prov1 is a very good ball and worth recomendation but there is a range of titleist balls on the market that for a fraction of the price perform just as well. last year i used the prov1 all season and had some very nice results but i have decided to use the cheaper NXT balls from titleist, alredy the balls are performing just like the prov1's. i play alot of golf now and have decided to keep using the NXT balls to save the extra cash. So i would recomend you check the other titleist balls on the market before buying the prov1s , but dont put the prov1 balls down they are very very good and if you do have the extra bit of money to spend on some balls then the prov1 is probabilly the better option.
heres a little more info for people wanting to know more about the titleist balls for 2005
The proV1X - a good ball...

Advantages: More ball for less Disadvantages: Durabillity
...Titleist makes the best golf balls, and has proven them selfs on the pro tour for many years.
This is a Titleist budget ball with almost the same performance and feel as the more expensive brother the ProV1.
The Cheeter line is very helpfull, for somone that struggles to line up his putts and can even be used to line up the driver giving you better acurisy ultimitly saving you shots on a round.
Launches good from the club face and has good controll arrount the greens, nice soft feel on irons giving you the confidence of a tour player. I woeld recomend this ball for the mid handicapper looking for a better ball but does not whant to pay the full price for the ProV1 range....
