This is one of the best balls out there especially for the lower handicap player who requires that little bit extra distance as well as the 'stop and drop' ability around the greens. I used to use the Titleist Pro V1 before switching to this as it was awesome around the greens but i moved to the ProV1X because it is slightly harder, thus reducing the amount of spin on the ball and giving me around 10 yards more distance and by keeping my ball around 5 yards straighter.
I hit the ball pretty hard and I think this is one of the reasons why the ProV1X suits my game. I also have a pretty tidy short game and I find that harder balls run about 5-10 feet past the hole instead of getting the amount of check spin I get with these.
Even though it is aimed at the more advanced level the only reason I suggest it for the low hanicapper is because of its price which at £30+ a dozen becomes expensive to lose and only serious golfers or rich golfers can afford to lose that much every month! I mainly only use them for competitions so that I dont lose any when I am knocking the ball around in my friendly fourball! Although I recommend that if you are on a practice round that you use this ball around the greens to get the 'feel' of the ball as it stops much quicker and feels much softer off the face than most balls.
This ball depends on whether you need distance or control. If its control then look no further than this or the Prov1, but if its a distance then maybe the NXT or PTS Solo may be a better option.
I think the ProV1X is probably the best premium priced ball on the market with only the Taylormade Red (similar charcteristics to the Prov1X) and Nike Platinum (rolls really well on the greens but loses a few yards off the tee for me) coming close.
