Although Titleist have since released a number of wedges to add to their series, the original Vokey Chrome is still a formidable golf club. A must buy for any serious golfer who appreciates quality and control, I believe the looks are unmatched by any other Titleist Wedge and many others from top brands. If you are looking for spin control this club is perfect. It offers fantastic consistency and a high spin rate, combined with good feel. All lofts are useful and if added to your bag can drastically improve your short game. I use 4 of these wedges (48, 52, 56 and 60 degree) and would not be playing off 7 without them. They add an extra dimension to your game and I believe are unmatched by any other brand. Since this Wedge series has been out for a few years, the price is relatively cheap and presents excellent value for money. For those players with high handicaps the Vokey wedges will add more to your game than a new driver. If you have a relatively low budget, this club will set you back around £60 and is available in most good pro-shops. Compared to other, newer clubs it is extremely good value, and I beg you to find a difference between this and a club twice the value.
Advantages: Looks great behind the ball, great spin rates. Disadvantages: ???
I bought two wedges from another manufacturer to match my irons, but HAD to go back to my 60 degree Vokey, because there was no feel to the others. My confidence on those high, floaty pitch/lob shots came flooding back when Vokey came home!! I was thinning those 50-70 yard shots into (and over the back of...) the green with my new 60 degree wedge, but Vokey put me back on the green. I can control the spin I get with the Vokey like no other wedge ... ...other clubs!! I don't have a problem with the sun glinting off the surface, I guess I just don't notice!! I can honestly say I will never get rid of my Vokey.....the game is hard enough as it is, with one of these tools in my bag, I know the game will be easier. ...
