CAROLINA III LADIES MILATEX TM JACKET
This is a sports jacket, which is very much an outdoor coat. It is lightweight, waterproof and is easy to make compact to stowaway. The secret of this jacket and what makes it different is its design and it is made out of Milatex. It is ideal for days out, holidays, when travelling or just everyday use. Really anytime you want to bring a coat and want to store it and don't have much space as it packs up small.
This coat has some special features that make it better in my opinion than others. It is waterproof and will keep you dry from the rain. It comes down over your bum, which is great, as it keeps it dry. I find this important as it means you are not sitting on wet clothes all day as some coats don't cover this region very well and you still get wet.
No wet gets inside your coat whatsoever and it also lets perspiration escape to the outside to leave you feeling even drier. An additional bonus is if the coat gets soaked it will dry quickly so you can pack it away nice and dry. The hood is flimsy and you just pull it over your head, not the most attractive hood ever but it keeps you dry. A plus is that the hood can be folded up and can be put into the collar out of sight.
The jacket is windproof as the fabrics in which the coat are made are very tightly woven together to maximise wind protection. There are toggles at the bottom and top so you can tighten the coat and stop any wind or cold getting in. Also at the cuffs of your sleeves it is elasticised which keeps heat in as well.
A feature of this coat, which is hard to find, is that it is breathable. The fabrics allow moisture from sweating to escape to keep your dry. I feel that this worked well the only problem was that when I was in tropical weather where is was pouring yet still extremely warm I did get too warm and had to open the coat to cool down at some stages during the day. I do feel tat it does work well at letting your perspiration escape.
The fabric in this coat is very lightweight which means you have versatility when moving about. It is a good coat for hiking. You are comfortable wearing it and it doesn't restrict you in any way. As the material is lightweight it is easy to stowaway into a small space. The coat isn't heavy to carry. So not only can you fit it into a small space you wouldn't even know you were carrying it. The only disadvantage is that you are not given a pack to put the coat into to keep it compact. When travelling I used elastic bands to keep it compact. This worked effectively for me.
To buy this coat it cost me £32.00 in the sales which I think was exceptional value. It comes in lots of different sizes to suit all shapes of people from size 10/12 to size 18/20. It comes in the following colours black, baby blue, avio, coffee print, lilac print, pink, pink print and pink/grey. So there are different colours to suit different tastes.
Personally I have the coffee print which I love. It is a brown/grey colour with a print of flowers, which is brown. The print reminds me of some print on surfing clothes. It is a subtle print and not in your face. It is a very unusual colour. On one of he cuffs of my sleeve the 'Milatex' logo is embroidered in white it isn't very large or noticeable. On the left hand side at the front on the chest the 'Tog 24' logo is embroidered with 'technical' embroidered in light pink. At the back no the neck the 'Milatex' logo is embroidered in white.
The outer part of the coat is 100% nylon with PU coating. The lining is 100% polyester. To wash you machine or hand wash in cold water. Make sure not to bleach, iron, dry clean or tumble dry, as it will damage the coat.
**MY EXPERIENCE**
I bought this coat to take with me on my travels around the world. As I was travelling through very different climates and temperatures. I needed a coat that was versatile and I could use in a range of different weathers. I needed a coat that was going to serve its purpose well. I have to say I definitely wasn't disappointed. This coat has got the best use of any item of clothing I have every bought.
Even since returning home I still use it consistently. The coat really does keep you warm even though it is so lightweight. It is breathable which I have never found in any other coat I have had. Although as I have said earlier in the very warm temperature I did get too warm and had to open up my coat however this was after a period of time. Plus temperatures were very warm and I do think that in any other coat I would have got too warm sooner. So it really is a very versatile coat which keeps you dry in the rain, warm in the cold and slightly cooler (more cooler than other coats) in the warm as it is breathable.
I would recommend this make completely to anyone and will be buying another one the same make the next time I need a new coat. I feel that it is a very good wearing coat and worth every penny I paid for it.
