MAGLITE SOLITAIRE
Advantages: Very compact, robust, reliable and surprisingly powerful for its size. Disadvantages: Expensive full price, but there are lots of reduced ones if you look.
I bought a standard black version from a DIY store reduced to £4 and for that money it's fantastic. Still very good value at full price. Exceptional light beam for such a small torch with 1xAAA battery.
I got it because it fits in the pen holder pockets on some of my clothes perfectly, so it's always there when I need it and it's well protected.
Just one thing, I would advise anyone who gets one to adhere to the instructions regarding vaseline ...

A Superb Little Torch!
Advantages: Waterproof, shockproof, great design, bright Disadvantages: None!
I bought my maglite a couple of years ago. Since I do quite a lot of camping and going to music festivals, I thought it would be a good idea to invest in a good torch to see me through my camping adventures!
The maglite comes in a black plastic protective case. The case is rectangular in shape, it is about 17cm in length and 10cm in breadth and probably about 3cm thick. It has 'Mini Maglite' written across the front of it. This opens up to reveal ... ...instructions that come with the maglite are detailed and easy to follow and tell you everything you need to know (though really putting batteries in a torch and turning it on doesn't require too much reading!) The warrantee is also included in the instructions.
The maglite is not too heavy, being made of aluminium, and is easy to carry around therefore making it a great camping accessory. The bottom of the maglite screws open so that you can put ...

The Fenix is a much better choice
Advantages: Well made, nice and bright Disadvantages: Not waterproof, expensive on batteries
Maglite have been known for a long time now for their reliability and build quality. I personally think this is mainly due to good marketing. Yes, their products are good, but let me explain why there are better options. I purchased one of these 3D cell torches. It cost me just under £20. The torch feels solid and is well made. It does what a torch is meant to do and produces a nice bright beam. The batteries last OK, but being D sized cells, they ... ...but for torch use are not that great. There are no other features on offer here. Plus, it is not particularly waterproof. Showerproof yes, but heavy rain will not do it any good. In comparison, I purchased a Fenix torch, that runs from two AA cells. It cost me £35 and is a lot more compact. It is waterproof too. The light beam can be adjusted high to low, can be focused nicely and also it has an SOS mode, where if I did get stuck in the forest it ...

MAGLITE 3D Flashlight - Damn good, impressive, durable and worth
Advantages: Durable, long battery life, sleek Disadvantages: comparatively heavy
I saw a maglite torch with a friend who had come to my farm. I knew that I had to have one of my own. I bought the 3D in Pune and am very happy and satisfied with its performance.. Its a good buy and extremely useful on long treks or night time camping and adventure apart from general utility tasks. It has a powerful beam and good focus with an awesome range. We also use it sometimes to pinpoint the location of a star or constellation. In my opinion, ...

6D Maglite
Advantages: Bright, Sturdy, Reliable, Focusing lense Disadvantages: It's long (not really a disadvantage, depends on your needs)
I bought this flashlight 5 months ago, I have been very pleased with it. It's very bright when you have the krypton bulb in (haven't tried the LEDs yet, they increase the battery life, would guess they probably aren't as bright though). The ability to focus the light from a wide coverage to a spot is great, it makes for a great evening of shinning in other students flats when the beam is focused. Its durable, very sturdy construction. There's a nice ... ...a good buy, you might want to look at the 2 and 3 D models if you want something a bit more compact as this model is quite long (I bought it because it's long...if they made a 8 or 9 D model, I'd buy that). Also because of the higher battery capacity, it is brighter. Think they have the specs on their site. It's also a bit heavy for a flashlight, nothing you can't handle. ...
