I was given this torch last year and i must admit that it has come in very useful. It is very bright, more so than my pretzl tikka headtorch, but not as bright as a gas powered lantern. I think the size of this torch (27cm long and nearly half a kilogram in weight) means that it is rather cumbersome to carry on a hiking trip and although some headtorches are less bright they are much lighter, smaller and as an extra attraction they can be fitted ...

In terms of battery life i found that after 4 to 6 hours of use the batteries really start to drain and the brightness of the torch falls dramatically. I bought this head torch for a round the world tour this year and it held up wonderfully.
