Advantages: Helps improve posture and fitness in a fun way Disadvantages: You may get bored of the activities after a while and not great if you are already very fit
Ever since the Wii Fit came out I was determined to get one. I have gym membership but I work long hours and often don't have the energy after work to trek up to the gym, do a work out and still have to make it home afterwards. If truth be told, I also don't have the self motivation to go to the gym regularly.
I thought the Wii Fit would give me a way of getting fit without feeling like I was actually working out.
When I finally got my Wii Fit for my birthday I was over the moon!
The Wii Fit consists of a disc and Wii balance board which you synchronise with your Wii. This is very simple and only takes a minute or 2 to follow the simple instructions and sync the board.
When you have inserted the disc and synchronised the board, you go to the main menu where you choose a Mii, which is your on screen persona. You choose from ...

Advantages: Very well built, sturdy, uses own body weight Disadvantages: Quite heavy, big and bulky
I have owned the TotalGym 1000, for about a year now. The reason why, is because I was channel shopping, and it looked good. It caught my eye, so I watched the programme, and then decided that for £150, you couldn't go wrong. I am a little impulsive like that.
You can do all sorts of exercises on it, so why bother paying to go to a gym, and use lots of machines, when this one does it all?
********************SETTING UP***********************
The setting up of this machine, is not terribly difficult, but it is a little tricky. Basically it all folds out, and fixes together, with really pick metal clips.
On removing it from the box, it is all flat packed. You need to take the sliding board aways, while you set up the frame. Then attatch the sliding board, on it's rollers.
It is quite difficult to explain, but it is fairly ...

Advantages: great for weightloss, fun for all the family, improves posture, balance and health Disadvantages: expensive, can only register up to 8 family members
.
There is also a hula-hoop activity which oddly is very popular with my dad! You stand on the board and swivel your hips to rotate the hula-hoop which you can see on screen. The board is so accurate that it moves on screen just as though you were really doing it!! There are various stages to this including stretching and leaning to catch additional hoops. I find this one pretty hard as I'm not particularly fit!
Balance Games
This is by far the most used section of the program and is perhaps the most 'fun'. It consists of a wide variety of balance games where you stand on the board and have to really work hard to get high scores. It includes a game where you see a flat table with holes in on the screen and some snooker type balls, you have to shift your balance carefully on the board to get the balls in the holes in the given ...
