British Gas

Advantages: gas seems fine
Disadvantages: telephone nightmare

British Gas I felt I had to write this review after having to deal with this company for the first time and being pretty disappointed. Having moved into a new flat and coming from a flat where all the bills were included in the rent meaning never having to deal with all these companies and now having to set up all the new accounts for things such as electricity, gas and water I found this company particularly tiresome to deal with. We were meant to phone up on the day we moved in to the new flat and pass over all the readings on the meters and the correct information to set up new accounts and the such like. I had no problems at all when contacting the water supplier and the electricity supplier but when it came to the gas this was more of a problem that I could of dreamed. After phoning up the main line for British ...

Trangia - the stuff of legends

Advantages: Lightweight, compact, tough, ready for anything
Disadvantages: None - really.

Some products deliver a task well. Others deliver the same task exceptionally on all fronts, this is the case with a Trangia. I have owned my Trangia since 1983 (!) and except for replacing a lost pan handle and a lost saucepan it is still performing to the same standards. Trangia now come in many formats - large and small, standard pans, teflon coated none stick frying pans, dual layered pans for increased thermal conductivity and are now available to be used with gas rater than the traditional methylated spirits. I have used several different version but the most important aspect of them all is their ease of use and transportability. The Trangia is stable and gives out excellent heat for a long time (up to an 3/4hour, dependant on setting, on one fill of meths). The packing system of pans, burner, windshield, kettle ...

Throw out that old gas stove!

Advantages: Lightweight, easy to use, fuel and time efficent
Disadvantages: hard to clean

The Trangia is a well established portable cooking device brand - Don't accept any Rip-offs.! The Trangia is an all-round good buy - every minute detail maximises the efficiency of the cooking: Beginning with the heart; the methylated spirit burner. The brass "cup" will hold approximately 150 ml of meths allowing you to cook for a good half hour without having to refill - Don't try and refill it when you've already lit it whatever you do! - Take it from my own personal experience - there will be bacon everywhere! Right through to the frying pan everything will cook quickly and easily - My personal favourite being bacon on my 25 series. You'll be able to cook 10 - 15 rashers of bacon only using one burner full of meths which is handy when you're cooking for four. The Trangia stove comes in a range of sizes and materials: If you ...
