The Trangia is a well established portable cooking device brand - Don't accept any Rip-offs.! The Trangia is an all-round good buy - every minute detail maximises the efficiency of the cooking:

Beginning with the heart; the methylated spirit burner. The brass "cup" will hold approximately 150 ml of meths allowing you to cook for a good half hour without having to refill - Don't try and refill it when you've already lit it whatever you do! - Take it from my own personal experience - there will be bacon everywhere!

Right through to the frying pan everything will cook quickly and easily - My personal favourite being bacon on my 25 series. You'll be able to cook 10 - 15 rashers of bacon only using one burner full of meths which is handy when you're cooking for four.

The Trangia stove comes in a range of sizes and materials: If you want a small compact stove for just one person then the Mini-Trangia is the one for you. You can pick them for less than £20 and they are as durable and as efficient as the rest of the Trangia range. They include everything basic that's needed for 1 person to cook for themselves.

However if you're looking for a cooker for 2 then the "27 series" stove is the one you want. Compact and lightweight (850g) it comes with two 1litre saucepans, an 18cm frying pan and the standard windshield and pan handler. These models start at around £40 but are available in non-stick and Duossal (stainless steel + aluminium) and have the option of a kettle (which isn't that particularly useful unless you're already using both saucepans)

My favourite is the 25 series - It's every bit as efficient as the mini or 27 series but you can cook things on a larger scale with the 1.5 and 1.75 litre saucepans together with the 22cm frying pan - That's up to four rashers! - It comes in the same available materials as the 27 series - but I recommend sticking with the basic aluminium, it may be harder to clean than the non-stick coated version, but it's a lot more scratch resistant and much better value at packs starting from around £50. Recommended for 3 - 4 people but it's also good for 2 people if you're hiking and you need that extra energy. It weighs just 1.1kg but if you really want to keep the weight of your pack down, I suggest looking into buying some of the titanium replacement items.

Overall - There may be cheaper stoves but none of them will ever come close to the durability, efficiency and value that the Trangia range offers.

I've used these, they're great, and a lot cheaper than buying gaz cartridges. they are pretty well unbreakable as well. Good review. Maybe Bacon should be used as the standard unit of measurement for the running time of a stove, out under the stars it is easy to lose track of time.
