Trek 1999 Vert 4

Advantages: Practically unbreakable
Disadvantages: Suspension needs improving

...The trek 3700 is a great bike as it lasts for years and years without anything going wrong with it. I got mine about 3 years ago and it still hasn't broken, even though i use it everyday! The forks have taken a real beating over the years as i do downhill biking quite a lot and many of my friends have snapped their forks within half the time i've had my trek. The suspension at the front is stiff at first but it soon loosens up and this provides a much more comfortable ride and if you're not bouncing about so much, it's easier to concentrate on the trail. But the suspension also brings about the first problem with the trek as it lacks rear suspension. This makes the ride much less comfortable and therefore enjoyable for someone who would only use it for cycling in urban areas. This is just about the only fault i can find with the trek so... ...TREK 4300 DISC I bought this bike around 4 months ago, in this period it has done 700 miles without so much as breaking down on me, that being said I only use for commuting to work, even though the cycle is classed as a mountain bike, if used off road it would be in need of repair within a couple of hours heavy use the 4300 is a really good bike for someone who is just getting back into cycling/exercising and does,nt want to buy a \"road bike\", I got my 4300 for £400 off the internet with free delivery, there are so many websites out there, so spend a few hours shopping around, you ll def get the deal your looking for, also in the winter months most bike shops online sell last years bike at knockdown prices, prob best time is jan, feb when only the select few are still bombing about... ...I bought the 2006 model with a triple a few months ago. For around £500 it's a great bike. I was looking at the Specialized Allez, the Trek 1000 and the Reno, but went for the Lemond for it's better components and good looks. The geometry suits me well. I needed a 61 cm frame as I am 6'4''. It's not an all-out racing bike but good enough for my level of riding. Very good on long rides (100 milers and such). Have not had any back aches after lang rides as I had on other bikes previously. The Bontraeger SSL wheel set it came with seems to hold out pretty well too, but I have seen it with the Select wheel set in the shops, which I personally would try to avoid.... Read review
