Advantages: Great Price, Great Components, Super Reliability Disadvantages: None whatsoever
...After 3yrs and 9000 miles of loyal service my original Trek 1500 road bike gave up the ghost after coming off second best with a battered old Nissan Micra!! I guess that proves that steel is stronger than Aluminium!!
My insurance company were great and sorted me out with a replacement within 2 weeks. I was delighted to find that the actual replacement was going to be the new 2006 model which features several improvements from the bike that I had previously. The price of the bike is £1300 fully delivered and set up, but upgrades to components such as saddle / wheels and pedals can bring the cost up if you want.
I booked a day off work to receive delivery of my bike, which arrived as planned and only required adjustment to the handlebars, seat-post and saddle. Berkshire Cycle Company who were the approved insurance dealers set the bike...

Advantages: Good re-introduction to road bikes Disadvantages: expense and pedals
...handlebars or a drop handle bar proper road bike, with tyres so thin I could up up stuck in a drain grating.
The Trek 1.2 Double won the day after a very generous discount from the dealer.

A triple...

Advantages: Relativly light, great frame, strong wheels Disadvantages: Judy TT front fork is a joke.
...I recently recieved this bike as a direct replacement for my trusty Trek 4300,which,due to upgrading to disks, proved too much of a temptation, and was stolen just before Christmas.
My 4500 has subsequently recieved little use,but I can say that the front fork is almost immpossible to depress, unless your a desperate dan lookalike. It is a likely candidate for upgrade ASAP.
Otherwise, however the components are well put together and the frame is light and very strong.Thank goodness they have seen sense and incorporated universal disk mounts on the rear.
I have already ordered disks to effect a brake upgrade, although strictly speeaking, the Avid single digit V brakes are more than adequate
The Deore shifters are very light, and make gear changes a pleasure.I'll also need to change the tyres as they are for off road stuff, and at present...
