TREK 4500 review
Review of Trek 4500 by

Advantages: Relativly light,great frame,strong wheels
Disadvantages: Judy TT front fork is a joke.
...I recently recieved this bike as a direct replacement for my trusty Trek 4300,which,due to upgrading to disks, proved too much of a temptation, and was stolen just before Christmas.
My 4500 has subsequently recieved little use,but I can say that the front fork is almost immpossible to depress, unless your a desperate dan lookalike. It is a likely candidate for upgrade ASAP.
Otherwise, however the components are well put together and the frame is light and very strong.Thank goodness they have seen sense and incorporated universal disk mounts on the rear.
I have already ordered disks to effect a brake upgrade, although strictly speeaking, the Avid single digit V brakes are more than adequate
The Deore shifters are very light, and make gear changes a pleasure.I'll also need to change the tyres as they are for off road stuff, and at present...

Like a Duracell battery
Review of Trek 3700 by

Advantages: Practically unbreakable
Disadvantages: Suspension needs improving
...The trek 3700 is a great bike as it lasts for years and years without anything going wrong with it. I got mine about 3 years ago and it still hasn't broken, even though i use it everyday! The forks have taken a real beating over the years as i do downhill biking quite a lot and many of my friends have snapped their forks within half the time i've had my trek. The suspension at the front is stiff at first but it soon loosens up and this provides a much more comfortable ride and if you're not bouncing about so much, it's easier to concentrate on the trail.
But the suspension also brings about the first problem with the trek as it lacks rear suspension. This makes the ride much less comfortable and therefore enjoyable for someone who would only use it for cycling in urban areas. This is just about the only fault i can find with the trek so...

Sweet ride
Review of Trek 820 by

Advantages: Price, style
Disadvantages: For this price you don't get brilliance!
...I bought this bike in the summer of 2002 for £220.
I was looking for a cheapish ride to get me to and from lectures. I wanted a reasonably good bike, but didn't think I needed (or could afford) anything too fancy. I also wanted a mountain bike, not because I cycle up mountains that much, rather because I think they look cool.
The first thing I noticed as I looked around my local bike shop was that technology had seemingly come a long way in the last few years. It quickly became clear that £200 can buy quite a reasonable bike nowadays (unlike the days when a piece of junk Raleigh Activator would set you back about £250)
Out of the bikes within my budget, the Trek 820 immediately caught my eye. It looks great (mine is blue/silver but I believe it also comes in red/silver). I was very wary of cheaper bikes that try a little too hard...
