I needed a new bike drastically when I realised that having a "full sus" cheap bike wasn't for me. I was on a low budget and I wanted a high spec, these do not really work, but it did!!
I went to a local bike shop in Chester and checked out the range they had. One bike that caught my eye was the Trek 6000, I knew that it was a year old model but that wouldn't bother me.
The first thing I done to the bike was pick it up and I was amazed with how light it was. Then I checked out the spec, the rear derailleur is a Shimano Deore LX and was adequate for what I wanted. With the bike being a hard tail it only had front sus, it was an "In Sync 453", and it has four inches and is adjustable. The rims are "Vuelta double rimed". As I suspected with my budget and with what I wanted spec wise it only came with "V-brakes" but I had a surprise in store for them. I weighed the bike when I got home and it only weighed 24lb's.
After using the bikes for a few week's I knew that the brakes needed changing, it's not that they are not adequate for stopping you it's the fact that they don't work in the rain, and in Wales that's a big problem. I went to my local shop in Mold and came out with a beautiful set of "Magura HS33's, Tomac". This was the first time I had set up Magura's and I was happy with how easy they were to apply.
Well its six months down the line and I have no regret's with buying the 6000. Adding the Magura's was even better. With adding the brakes it brought the price up to £650. Nice I think!
I thoroughly recommend any Trek but in particular the 6000 or higher.
