Advantages: Very, very cheap
Disadvantages: Not as tough as other bikes.

I thought I'd be environmentally friendly and cycle into work each day. This plan was almost scuppered when I went into the bike shops in my area; I was aghast to see that they were upwards of £300. This is more than a little out of my price range.
