Advantages: Good for beginner divers, not too expensive. Disadvantages: Batteries not user changeable. Only shows temperature on home pc.

The display on it is big enough to see without squinting and the layout is easy enough to understand. Top left on the screen is your current depth, top right is your dive ... ...and bottom left is your maximum depth. It shows you exactly what you need to know as an amateur diver. If you do happen to stray into decompression, it automatically switches over to a decompression mode that tells you exactly how deep to ascend and how long to stay there.

I bought my Aladin Pro Nitrox shortly after I had started diving nearly eight years ago, although I upgraded to the Air X Nitrox a couple of years afterwards (See my Air X Nitrox review) the battery on it still reads 58%. It is still running on the first battery.
The display on it is big enough to see without squinting and the layout is easy enough to understand. Top left on the screen is your current depth, top right is your dive time, bottom right is your no-stop time or deco information and bottom left is your maximum depth. It shows you exactly what you need to know as an amateur diver. If you do happen to stray into decompression, it automatically switches over to a decompression mode that tells you exactly how deep to ascend and how long to stay there.
The unit itself is big enough not to get lost if you drop it into your dive bag yet not too bulky. I bought a screen protector just to prevent the screen from getting scratched and this comes with a lanyard in the event of the strap ever breaking.
The computer stores the last 200mins of diving and with the help of the pc link can be downloaded to a home pc. This will then show you extra information such as gas absorption rates, water temperature etc.
The other features that are included with the computer are all accessed out of water. They are, a logbook, a dive planner so that you can work out decompression calculations without having to go through tables and a battery check.
I paid about £20 more than the non-nitrox version of this computer, the Pro, for the capability to vary my Nitrox mix. That is just personal preference, but I intended to dive on Nitrox when trained and didn't want to buy another complete computer just for the Nitrox.
This computer would be suitable for any grade of diver from Novice to Expert. If you are just learning to dive or are just getting kit together, I think that this would still represents good value for money.
