Since the takeover of this Holmes Place gym by Virgin Active, the whole place has gone so bad. It's awful, what was once a great, friendly gym is now a barren, busy, unhappy place. The staff evidently aren;t happy with the changes and they were such a credit to Holmes Place. I am most annoyed with the attitude of the manager Lorna who I complained to becuase now we are guilt tripped into only being allowed one towel (long hair and using the steam room give me valid reasons for 2, only 2 mind!) We are told we are personally responsible for global warming by taking an 'excessive' 2. Below is Lorna's response to my complaint which acknowledges her customers are not happy but clearly states she will do nothing about this. And yet Virgin has an airline!!!!!
Hello,
Thank you, for your feedback card which was received earlier this month.
I understand that the change in towel policy has come as a great shock to many members here in Edinburgh. However, I must stress that this is a gradual re-education process for everyone and I am sure you understand the environmental reasons behind this initavtive.
We really want to try and reduce people taking excessive numbers of towels when ever possible. If you need 2 on some occassions it is no problem.
I see from your feedback that you are considering finding another gym if this policy is not changed, however this is a company wide initative and will not be changed as it is at the heart of Virgin.
I do hope you do not feel the need to look for another gym and look forward to seeing you in the club again soon. Kind Regards, Lorna

" I am appauled at your attitude towards the environment" oh silly me, that's not abuse at all is it? Gee I really am sooooooooo stupid, I completely missed your point. GET REAL! You were needlessly nasty. I don't care what you think. I deserve an apology from you. You stuck your nose in where it wasn't welcome with a thoroughly unnecessary and nasty comment designed only to offend. I am NOT missing the point, you are a thoroughly nasty human being. THAT is my point, which so far you have chosen to ignore. Wanna give me that long overdue apology now?

You seem to be missing the point a wee bit. My intial reaction wasnt abuse it was directed toward your sentiments expressed about your healthclub and the towel policy.
Maybe we should discuss Virgin Airlines on another forum and not under the same heading as the Health Clubs, yes the fact remains that Virgin does have a Airline and yes they do seem to have a plan to become more environmentally friendly, wheter this will work time only will be able to tell.
I dont think the Health Club and the airline have anything to do with each other even if they are run under the same banner.
Or maybe you and I should agree to disagree?

Yet you called my attitude 'apalling' that was so nice of you. You didn't 'ask' about my contributions, you verbally abused me. Your point was not made, how can a corporation with an airline really claim to be environmentally friendly? I made my review in good faith to help others in the way their reviews helped me. You instead decided to be rude, says a lot about you.
