I don't normally feel the need to voice my opinions on the internet but after seeing the previous review regarding Virgin Actives policies towards towels I thought I should attempt to set the record straight from my perspective.
Holmes Place/Virgin Active in my opinion is still a great club and throughout the transition of the takeover have continued to be helpful and approachable when I've questioned any new policies.
The staff are extremely friendly and I find the atmosphere of the whole club as enjoyable as ever.
In regards to the towel policy. I too find the need to use two towels but unlike the opinions of the previous review I do not find the new policy any problem. It isn't like as members we are forced to only have one towel, it is only suggested that when possible we restrict ourselves. This, as i can see, is reiterated by the e-mail which has been attached to the previous review where the club manager has actually stated 'if you need 2 on some occassions it is no problem.' I see no problem in the problems with unnessary wastage of towel usuage being highlighted to us and as members of the public any little we can do to cut back on global warming can only be a good thing. You may accuse Branson for some of the problems with global warming with his ownership of an Airline but even he is trying to combat this by investing £3 billion into environmental research. Being asked to cut back on towels seems the least we can do for the problems we ourselves cause.
Under Virgin I hope that the gym continues the high standards it inherited from Holmes Place and so far so good.

Hiya, I wrote my review on the towel policy because the woman at the desk did actually point blank refuse to give me two, which contradicts your opinion. That's why I flagged it up for others to take into consideration when they wanted to find a gym they were happy with.
