Advantages Advantages clean, good key system, membership freeze

Disadvantages Disadvantages you have to put the effort in, it's not a magic cure

...but at least I'm reactivated... It has become increasingly obvious over the years that I am prone to vast spells of laziness. Coupled with a love of food this has led to there being more of the Melee in evidence than she (and people who have to sit next to her on the train) might like. And every so often this means she goes on a health kick and tries to fight back against the belly swell. This particular bout of leaf-eating gym-going has been a long time coming. In fact, I think it has been two years since I last did any proper exercise, and that was a two years filled with particularly ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of machines to use, lots of classes and staff are nice.

Disadvantages Disadvantages You have to pay for towels!

My review is for the the Virgin Active in Kingston Upon Thames. I signed up to Virgin Active about 6 months ago and must say that I have been very pleased with it from day 1. Virgin Active is a gym that is aimed at young professionals. The main selling point of this is that there are no children allowed so if you want to go for a swim you don’t have to dodge any children playing in the water. For me, this was a major boost. I called up on day to arrange a look round and was seen that same day. I was taken round a tour of the facilities including the gym, pool area, changing rooms and where the ... more

Advantages Advantages activities, cleanliness, very large, great customer service

    Disadvantages Disadvantages price slightly high

i attended virgin active a few months back now and after being shown around i become a member. The facilities available in the gym are absolutely fantastic, these include swimming pool, weights, CV equipment, Yoga equipment, Sauna, Steam room, Tanning beds, and a variet of classes such as boxing, cycling, circuits and light weights yoga, so everything for everyone really!! The layout is very good i think, and the cleanliness and space of the changing facilities was to an incredible standard. There was also an indoor cafe with food and drink and internet acess available too. If you have kids ... more

1 Star Quick review of Virgin Active Fitness Club (London) by PUMP_ACTION 08/12/2007
I Agree with the other posters. Virgin Active have said that they are helping the enviroment. What a load of garbage, they still continue to print out lots of posters and leaflets to advertise that fact that they are helping the enviroment. What they have produced in paper must out weigh an potential enviroment saving. With regard to other cost savings they seem to be cutting back alot, I think its to do with the Flotation of the Virgin Active Group so the the new company has to spend money and Virgins bank acount stays very healthy hence depriving its membership. ... more

1 Star Quick review of Virgin Active Fitness Club (London) by NV_London 29/09/2007
I used to be a member of Holmes Place and in particular the Kensigton club which was a Premium Club (I also have the Privileged card which allows me access to all gyms). Since Virgin Active aquired Holmes Place, the quality of the gym facilities has dropped significantly. More precise, the floors are very dirty, the stuff is not helpful, I no longer get freebies and guest passes. In addition they recently started renovating the gym and although there was a sink at each cubicle in the female changing rooms, now there is only one. They continuously seem to worsen the ... more
