Warning : be really careful about joining, it'd like Royston Vasey, impossible to leave. I cancelled my contract in writing in September before i moved out of the area. The next May I got a call from a collection company threatening me with court ! No correspondence from Virgin in that time, staff very unhelpful, and clearly bored with dealing with this problem. 3 months notice to exit actually refer to 3 specific months! And no guarantee that they won't just ignore you, as you have to cancel from the website, and have no record of your own! And if you are willing to debate the matter you could find yourself 'rolling over' into another 12 month contract, as they won't let you cancel until you have paid the disputed debt. So if your job moves, you need to be closer to family, you develop a health issue or your plans change in any way, there is little chance of exiting the cojntract. Robbery.

I know this is a little out dated now but thought I would offer a little advice. I work in the health club industry and hate the concept of the small print designed to mess people around when they try and leave. Often the debt collection companies actually only use letters and phone calls and their threats are hollow as there are so many people they are dealign with, usually they try and panic you into paying the club. Please don't take this as fact but it is often the case. Places like this give the industry a bad rep!

I had no problems getting out of my Virgin Active contract, didn't need to cancel via website, did it all at reception and signed the blue cancellation form there and then, confirmation was sent a few days later.
