I have been skiing since I was 3 years old am now am 21. I have been on the world circuit most of my life and have been in the German national ski team and won German national titles at a young age.
A team member and I both bought a previous model of Volkl carvers (orange ones) and although they are and excellent ski we both had problems with the bases. During training in New Zealand on a rocky face there was a small land slide with pebbles scattered across the slope.
After skiing through this trying to aviod as much as we could we later found that our bases had huge chunks taken out of them by the pebbles. They were huge gored out grooves and we were not impressed!. Later that season I crashed in a downhill event and snapped one of my skis.
So the only problem was that they broke on me and that the bases were similar in strength ...

I bought this camera very cheaply secondhand to use for rocket aerial photography. After hitting the ground hard many times it soon became apparent that the camera was more durable than expected, with no malfunctions after a few months use.
I own other digital camera's, and am impressed with the speed at which the S-20 focuses and takes pictures, although the light sensitivity of the CCD seems poor - a 4 second exposure of a moonlight scene produces a noisy dark picture when compared to an Olympus C220's 1/2 second exposure of the same scene. But the S-20 is old now so maybe an unfair comparison.
I can get about 60 top-res photos on one charge of the (new) NiMh battery, and prefer to manually set the colour balance when taking photo's, as the auto balance sometimes produces shots that are discoloured.
My camera has 1 pixel stuck ...

Another great all rounder, this camera has an attractive SLR tape styling. It?s not a test winner on macro detail but otherwise a very capable camera
Build quality
The finepix s20 pro is rather chunky compared to most other models. However being, Fuji films top of the range prosumer model, it?s designed to be used for a variety of photographic jobs both inside and out. With that in mind, handling is reminiscent of SLR design with a large hand grip most of the cameras controls. The matt black finish, albeit made from plastic, seems tough enough to withstand its share of knocks
