Bum Backup

Advantages: easy to carry around, comfortable to sit on
Disadvantages: the foldable stick is better (for me)

...stick in question is called Elite SeatStick, the model I bought is the Walker (Adjustable Height Model). The walking height can be adjusted by pressing in the two spring buttons, sliding the inner tube to the desired length and making the two buttons spring out into the required pair of holes, the stick can be between 83 and 90 cm (32 1/2 and 35 1/2 ins) long, the sitting height can be between 78 and 85 cm (31 -33 ½ ins). When the shop-assistant ...
...found what I was looking for, in fact I liked it even more than the tripod I had seen used by my arty mate. I asked her if she had a foldable model as I wanted to use the stick only for excursions with the art club meaning I would have to take it with me on bus and train tours, she said no, they didn't have foldable models as they were no good, not firm enough to sit on and might break. Damn her!, truth is that the stick she could offer me was the ...

Poles are a revelation

Advantages: Reduces impacting of knee joints
Disadvantages: No free hands

Last week I walked the 80 mile Great Glen Way across Scotland from Fort William in the west to Inverness in the east. The walk is mainly flat although I\'d say about 25% of it is up and down some fairly big hills. I had never used walking poles before last week and seeing as I had not walked a long distance walk for nearly 10 years I thought I would give these particular pair a go, given they had such a good review from Miskah. Well I\'m very happy ...
...highly enough to other long distance walkers - this is what I did on the way last week in fact to quite a number of non-walking pole walkers ! After the 5 day walk I was expecting to come home with a limp and a bit of difficulty walking for several days after - well that just has not happened as the poles have reduced the forces on my legs especially on downhill parts. My arms are now stronger and I am now feeling as fit as I did 10 years ago thanks ...

An extra leg up when you need one

Advantages: Light, Strong , reliable, well designed, anti shock
Disadvantages: Not cheap

I have used LEKI poles for years and recently upgraded my old pole which had served me for 10 years to a pair of LEKI super MAkULU cor tec poles with anti shock. These are superb and a great improvement on the old design. They are lighter and wieght very little , have a stronger lock mechanism and as well as the cork handles they have a black cloth sheath protecting the cork from dirt which is a great idea Features cork handles; a great idea as ...
...worn at all! Also on leki poles the very bottom is flexibale and after thinking I have destroyed my pole after getting it trapped in a rock the very tip slowly reforms back straight! Good top strap with release mechanism , most people dont realise how important it is to loop your wrist through the top strap these poles came with a very high quality strap very comfy Many people still have a poor opinion of walking poles seeing them as an old mans ...
