Advantages: long grip, more power Disadvantages: big headsize (disadvantage only for pros)
I have bought 5 of these rackets about 4 years ago, and since then I play every day with them. As I started playing with them they were represented by the Serena Brand, Serena Williams used to play with them, now if you are pro I won't recoamand you to buy it, cause as a pro you need about 3-4 identic rackets, and since this model isn't fabricated anymore you meight have problems finding more of them on the market. Mainly it has been designed more ... ...backhand with two hands, so that bouth hands fit on the grip, weights 260 gramms without strings and overgrip, so it's a quite light racket, the weight is situated in the head, which provides you more strenght, as specially when serving. Advantages: Great feel. Disadvantages: Little control on first serve.
In a previous opinion in the tennis racquets section, I stated that I had a WilsonHammer6.4. Unfortunately due to some rather worrying circumstances, I no longer have this racquet. Why?, I hear you ask. Well the answer is that it broke. Because I play a very 'coached' game, I tend to hit massive topspin on my forehand which breaks a lot of strings. Constant re-strings eventually start to damage the frame of the racquet due to the constant change in tension and stress. This leads to cracks appearing in the frames and then in the case of my racquet, it just buckled.
So, I had to look for new racquets. The first racquet that crossed my mind was the Wilson Hyper Hammer6.3 and that was the one which I decided on. The WilsonHammer range of racquets has been going for ages now and in the 1998/9 they introduced a new compound for making ...
Advantages: A good all round racket, recommended for those with weaker wrists Disadvantages: A very light racket so shots can sometimes be miss hit
Off the ground, we found the racket to offer some decent pop. Advanced players with an aggressive swing style can get away with taking just three-quarters of their regular backswing and still generate enough power and spin from the back court. Stronger players will find this useful when playing longer points as less effort is required to hit aggressively. Stronger players can still swing aggressively with the racket, but must make sure they get below the ball and generate enough spin to tame some of the racquet's power. Medium paced swings produced good power with the WilsonHammer and we found this especially useful on the backhand slice. When hitting a backhand slice, we found plenty of spin and grip on the ball from the stringbed, and direction and depth were easy to gauge. We were also able to generate some good topspin ...
