I recently bought a york 6605 bench, and I was not too impressed about how stable it was, so I returned it. The connection between the bit where the barbell sits and the other part where you lie on was not very good. I'm still trying to think how an earth it could cope with the 200kg or whatever the limit is. My friend who help me to assemble the bench, and that took time believe me, even said "Is it safe?, I don't think so."
The older bench they used to make, I reckon is much more stable, but this bench can't hold as much as the 6605, it does'nt fold and you can't do the leg curls on it.
Once you start hitting the heavy weights I don't recommend this bench, eventhough it has a 200 kg limit on the bench press. But I would recommend it if you are just starting a weight training program, and don't lift heavy weights.
Can anyone suggest a nice bench for the weight trainer who in not an amateaur and not a professional either, something semi-professional. Many thanks.
The bit where I've ticked yes in the 'Recommend to potetial buyers' is only for the beginner, and not for people who train with fairly heavy and heavy loads.
