The spinlock safety locks are good if you tighten them really tight, however they easily gradually unspin if you do not tighten them enough. Also in my opinion the weight of the plates could be in higher weight value, like 4 x 7.5kg just so that people who like to add extra weight can do as it is difficult to get many more than 2 plates on each side especially ... ...this weights set to anyone who is just starting weight training or bodybuilding, as it is easy to set up and isn't too advanced, especially when talking about the weight of the plates.
The price of the set is between £50 and £60 I believe, depending on where you purchase it from (I purchased my set from Argos catalogue) . I would say this is good value for money, but not exceptional as I believe there are better weight sets out there ... more
I purchased this about a year ago and was pretty impressed with it. With the set you get a 7kg barbell bar with 2 spinlock safety locks, 2 dumbell bars with 4 spinlock safety locks and plates that go up as: 4 x 5kg, 4 x 2.5kg, 4 x 1.25 and 4 x 0.5kg. I purchased this set of weights and bars a few months ago and have been very pleased with how they have been. I have used them for a variety of exercises, from bicep curls to bent over rows.They allow users to change the amount of weight on the bars easily, perfect for beginners who should make strength increases relatively fast - if that's what they train for. Advantages: You can achieve anything you need to with these. Disadvantages: nothing.
I started bodybuilding 3 years ago. I started at home using these exact weights.
They are great for everything you want to achieve when using them.
I use them for barbell curling, dumbell curling, dumbell pressing, dumbell flys, shouler press and squats. they can be used for many more things. I use these to work on my biceps, triceps, shoulders, pecks and legs. They are perfect for home use. They dont get in the way and are easy to store away in ... ...Over the years i have managed to move up with the weights that i use as these weights are changable as to what ever suits your comfort.
These dumbells are a great addition for your home gym. Combine these with other equipment and your normal nutrition and you can achieve what your after.
Just remember to not overload the weights your using so that you dont injure yourself. ...
