Wii Fit

Advantages: great for weightloss, fun for all the family, improves posture, balance and health
Disadvantages: expensive, can only register up to 8 family members

Our Wii Fit was brought as a birthday present for my 9 year old brother, although to be honest it was probably more of a gift to us!! What is a 'Wii Fit'? Before explaining what a Wii Fit is, I will explain the equipment you will need for it. The Wii Fit works on a Nintendo Wii - the Wii is a games console, which uses a handheld remote for interactive play (simulating tennis etc). In addition to the games console you will need a Wii Fit balance board. This can be used with other games such as skiing etc but will initially be purchased with the Wii Fit software. The Wii fit balance board is a rectangular board, which the user stands on, and it links up wirelessly to the Wii and is used to improve health through balance games, muscle and yoga poses and aerobic exercise games. The Wii fit balance board measures and monitors ...

Wii Fit

Advantages: Easy way to keep fit.
Disadvantages: Can't think of any.

Last Christmas, my mum (a.k.a. "Santa") got the family a Wii Fit - hinting at my sister and I that we need to keep fit. I'm going to admit, I'm a bit fat. Now, I'm not one of those people you see in documentaries who can't get out of bed because they're huge but I could stand to lose a stone or two. I used to go to the gym twice a week but I found it too difficult and it was straining keeping up with my trainer, and I felt embarassed whenever I told him I couldn't do something. I did lose about half a stone though so I was happy about that. When I started using the Wii fit I was a bit anxious about trying it out because it had been a while since I'd been to the gym and I wasn't too keen to let my family see how unfit I was! However, I've been using it on-and-off since Christmas and it's great! It's been about a month since I last used it ...

Keeping fit

Advantages: something different, fun for all
Disadvantages: doesn't exactly count as a weight-loss program

. It would have been better if there would have been more graphics in this part. Wii fit takes the whole collaboration of games and fitness to an entirely new level..All the exercises are split in four different categories- ? Yoga ? Muscle ? Aerobic ? Balance There are 15 muscle toning and 15 yoga poses available. There is a variety in the poses from breathing to ballet like poses, standing still etc. The muscle toning focuses on core and legs. There are squats and lunges for legs, planks for abs but no crunches i(a major disappointment). There are slow pushups for shoulders and chest. One can always perform some drills using dumbbells. The aerobic and balance exercises always add to the fun quotient. Aerobic games include wii spots like boxing, jogging in a virtual park, the hula hoop games, step dancing, etc. The 6 minute boxing is the most ...
