Advantages: able to exercise at home, needs small space Disadvantages: none
Ever since the birth of my youngest daughter almost three years ago I seem to have been fighting a battle to lose weight - at times I seem to be winning and at others it's more like I'm losing, but one of the things that definitely seems to have helped was buying my YorkPacer foldable treadmill.
I used to be a bit of a gym addict, but with two young children I have neither the time nor the energy to spend evenings at the gym any more! In a moment of desperation, I said to my husband a couple of years ago 'If I can't go to the gym - why not bring the gym to me!' Well it seemed a good idea but of course wasn't practical in terms of space but we did work out that we probably had room for a tredmill!
I did a bit or research and discovered that the YorkPacer ws available at a cost of £300! This might seem quite expensive, but when I ...
Advantages: Exercise at home Disadvantages: Very big machine, noisy
Well I did it - I bought myself a treadmill. As an ex-member of a fitness club I went for one of the bigger machines in the York range so that I had the option to run, the smaller ones will only reach a fast walking pace. The machine cost £500 and came with a computer showing distance, speed, calorie counter and time with another display which shows your heart rate should you choose to plug in the chest strap provided. It has a scary looking but reasonably easy to follow installation and 'how to use' manual with lots of pictures to illustrate the assembly instructions - oh, and not forgetting the plastic water bottle. You are able to set either calorie, distance or time as your perimeter and the speed may be altered faster or slower ...
Advantages: Size And Amazing Architecture Disadvantages: Foundations where a bit scary for me
I love york and whenever possible go for a weekend. Whilst there I always visit York Minster and usually stay in an Inn a few feet away directly facing the Minster. The first thing that strikes you is the size of it and the fabulous architecture (it's over 500 feet wide and has a central tower almost 200 feet high). Visitors come from all over the world to admire York Minster Cathedral.
Whilst you are looking around the Minster bear in mind it took over 250 years to complete and the only devices they had then were simple levers, pulleys and hoists. Lots of Masons and Carpenters spent their entire working lives just helping to construct York Minster.
In the year 306A.D. Constantine was proclaimed Emperor in a ceremony which took place on the sight of the future Minister, there is a statue of him looking very Imperial outside ...
