So now for the weights (after my other reviews on weights bars and their many uses!)
I’m guessing that for most of the readers, you’re probably either looking for new weights to stack your weights bar and get lifting, or possibly your already a lifter, and are looking for bigger heavier weights to add to that bar, or lastly, you’ve just had a bad experience with another set of weight and have decided a change. Whatever your reason, the York Disc is perfect.
Information The disc comes in a black colour in several different weight categories 0.5kg 1.25kg 2.5kg 5kg 10kg 15kg 20kg 25kg
Packaging is in a box with each weight disc wrapped in a plastic bag, unsealed. As for the durability, they are good, although i haven’t put it completely to the test by dropping them several stories, however, for normal daily use, they are great.
One small issue that I’ve noticed is that after leaving my weights on my bed or chair, I find these small little black and silver chippings from the weight discs, nothing that can’t be cleared up, but just a small observation for those of you who would prefer cleaner and nicer discs.
Other related items are the chrome discs, which I do recommend a quick look at if you’re on the market looking for weights, but for the mean time, the cast iron discs are great. They are simple to use, durable, look great and aren’t ugly, and lastly, are cheap. When knowing that you’re going to be constantly purchasing weight discs throughout your life, you don’t want something too expensive making these prefect as you can easily buy more and more for a good price and of course not feeling guilty about spending that extra cash on weights instead of fixing the window, or buying a new doormat, because you have that extra money.
Small points Each disc is a different size in terms of the diameter, however one to look out for is the name. The normal cast iron discs are a 1 inch diameter hole in the centre for the smaller weights bar, the Olympic disc is used for the 2 inch thick Olympic weights bar. So do just check
So in my opinion, the York cast iron discs are just great. I wouldn’t choose any other under the same conditions or price, durability and ease of use. One to recommend to those looking to start buying.
