have a blast of a time
Review of Kona Blast by
danrugby2005
Advantages: great frame
Disadvantages: expensize
...if over oiled. Grips: kona moose knuckle The grips don't lose there grip with sweaty hands much atall and are nice and soft on the hands compared to other bike grips.
Suspension: marzocchi MZ-comp 100mm travel fork. The suspension can take alot of shock of jumps and kerbs and is really useful.
Pedals: wellgo LU-A9 The pedals are a good size not to big or to small they feel nice on you feet and don't slip.
RIDE
I found this bike very smooth to ... ...and I like the way the frame lets you sit.
The bike feels very solid but is yet still soft and comfortable to ride. I feel it is best used for nice cycles through woods and places like that but it still works nicely on other things like tarmac. It is great bike for all but I do not recommend as a racing or travelling bike.
LOOKS
I love this bike I think it looks very nice with cool colours and a nice mountain biking subtle but cool look. It looks ...

Aluminium tastic
Review of Kona Caldera by
hukerjohn
Advantages: Lightweight, good quality components
Disadvantages: A lot of money
Kona are a fantastic Canadian company that was set up in 1988 by Jacob "Jake the Snake" Heilbron, Dan Gerhard and Joe Murray. They specialise mostly in mountain bikes at the high end of the quality spectrum.
I bought my first Kona, a Kona Lava Dome, in February of 2006 however on March the 6th of this year (2007) man and machine met wrought iron fence. Both man and machine were broken only, unlike myself, my trusty steed doesn’t have the ability ... ...I visited my local Kona dealer and a rather nice chap suggested I took my frame in and he would see what Kona would do for me. The following afternoon I received the news that Kona had offered a crash replacement frame with 50% off. Brilliant. Hence - the Kona Caldera.
The Kona Caldera is an all mountain aluminum frame that has been designed primarily with cross country riding in mind. It is a hard tail mountain bike which means that the back wheel ...

This review scrutinises the Kona Cinder Cone 2007.
Frame tubing Kona All-Mountain Butted Aluminum
Fork Marzocchi Mz with Lock out
braze-ons 2 bottles, fender, Disc brake tabs
Headset TH
Crankarms FSA Alpha Drive Powerdrive
Chainrings 44/32/22
B/B FSA Powerdrive
Pedals Wellgo LU-A9 w/Toe clips and straps
Chain Shimano CN-HG53
Freewheel Shimano Deore (11-32t, 9speed)
F/D Shimano Deore R/D Shimano Deore LX
Shifters Shimano Deore
Handlebar ... ...WTB Pure V SPORT
Seatpost Kona Thumb
Seat clamp Kona QR
Colour Orange
The Back Country aluminium frame is fairly light and uses the same frame as the £100 dearer Kona Caldera. The entire Kona range is famous for their long-lasting and sturdy frames; however at times this does sometimes come at a cost as they are often under-specced for the money in comparison to competitor's offerings in this price bracket. The paint job is a sort of burnished ...

Gary Fisher Nirvana excellent value in a hybrid
Review of Gary Fisher Nirvana by
aversetospam
Advantages: Nimble, durable, versatile
Disadvantages: Gearing too low for speed on downhills
I purchased a Gary Fisher Nirvana as a deeply discounted "clearance" item in the late 1990s, and have used it for short commuting and longer weekend rides ever since. The cro-moly frame and fork have worked smoothly and held up well, the wheels have taken a pounding without distorting, and the gears are still functioning without flaw. The small frame accepted fenders, luggage rack, and other unstylish but useful add-ons. This hybrid bike has been ... ...and off road use.
Gary Fisher sold his company to Trek in the early 1990s, and I suspect that some of the models have been "decontented" by Trek as Fisher's personal involvement in the product faded. A bike enthusiast that I know told me that this was a carry over of one of the last genuine Gary Fisher products. I have not ridden later versions of this model. That may be the source of the intense dissatisfaction of the reviewer who found the Nirvana ...
