A very light small tent
Review of Coleman Inyotm 2 Tent by
alimason
Advantages: small and therefore warm, light, easy to put ip
Disadvantages: little headroom, not good in extreme cold
...A very good tent indeed. I have used this tent on many 2,3,4 and 5 day trips and it has prooved very good. It is easy to assemble with only 2 poles and can easily be done by one person in only 3-4 minutes. I have also put mine up in gale fore winds with driving rain at 2 in the morning on Dartmoor. It is also very spacious and when hiking it is perfect for 2 people and all their kit. I was also pleasantly surprised by the fact that the tent does not create much condensation, in fact very little and the numerous inside pockets and twin vestibule areas are very useful for essential kit and cookin, respectively. The tent is also very light at under 5lb it makes little impression on your pack. It also has another advantage of being used as a single sheet tent, prefect for on the beach or just as a sun shelter. One minor disadvantage...

Camping, Have a go, you maybe surprised
Review of Wynnster Cambrian by
dreamscancometrue
Advantages: spacious family tent
Disadvantages: fits 6 easily, 8 would be uncomfortable
...When my husband first suggested camping, I suggested a divorce, but I was amazed at just how much I enjoyed it.
Of course it does help if you've got the weather, but also perhaps most importantly a tent like this really helps.
The Wynnster Cambrian tent, is a real good family tent, When stating how many people tents will hold, I personally think these are a bit over the top if you want to be comfortable, If you've got a family with 2 or 3 kids, I would suggest a tent such as this 8 man tent, as the extra space is a good advantage.
Standing height in the main living area is 210cm, which is ample room for the average person.
Its weight is 25.65 Kilo so is quite a weighty item, and definatliey not one for the average backpacker, But I found fits comfortly in the boot of the car, after all it is a Family tent.
This is a dome design tent...

Far from the madding crowd
Review of Big Agnes Seedhouse SL 3 Tent by
Miskah
Advantages: Ultra light, roomy , quick to erect
Disadvantages: expensive
...“This ultralight, freestanding tent is for gram-counting geeks who like to swill their adventure in big gulps and have a little room to read at night!” Big Agnes
We treated ourselves to this Seedhouse SL3 last year (SL3=super light 3 person). This is the tent we take with us our forays deep into the undergrowth and it was an extravagance as it cost us around £200. That probably sounds a bit steep but it was worth the money because its one of the lightest 3 man tents out there. It weighs in at a svelte 3 lb 15 oz and you can whittle that down to an anorexic 3 lb 2 oz if you are sure the weather will be decent and there is no nasty insect life by using the fast fly assembly
When you are carrying everything you need every ounce makes a difference and the tent is big component of the overall weight. Cutting that weight down means you have...

VauDe Base Dome 2, lightweight 4 person tent
Review of VauDe Base Dome 2 by
flintstone
Advantages: Large lightweight, yet strong, dome-shaped family tent for 4 people
Disadvantages: Zips in doorway not ideally positioned for rainy day use.
...dry weather but often with ocasional heavy thunderstorms). It's a big tent yet copes well in strong winds and is reliably watertight. The front door can be raised and held horizontally to form a porch/roof, although 2 extra poles are needed for this. The manufacture is of a high quality with strong alloy poles and UV stable fabrics. It's a large tent with qualities more often associated with smaller tents designed for more serious mountain use. If you want a good quality, strong, stable, lightweight familly tent then the Base Dome 2 is ideal (or the newer, slightly larger Base Dome 3). If you don't like the price there are plenty of cheap (also very heavy and awkward to pitch) jousting tents on the market....

Tent - ative about camping? Don't Be!!
Review of Lichfield Madrid 5DLX Tunnel Tent by
josarah
Advantages: Easy to erect, large, simple construction
Disadvantages: Heavy to Carry
...is known as a 'tunnel' tent. This basically means that it is tunnel shaped, with an entrance at one end and 2 bedrooms at the other. The front door can be zipped out completely, leaving a gaping mouthed tunnel, or part of it can be rolled back and tied to one side, leaving a smaller, yet still fairly large gaping hole.
SIZE
The main attraction of this tent to ourselves was the overall size. As it's name suggests this is a 5 man deluxe tent so there is plenty of space for a couple. There are 2 bedroom areas, one which we use as the master bedroom that should sleep 3 people, and another that we use as a wardrobe/changing area that sleeps 2 people. Personally I wouldn't recommend that 5 adults go away for any length of time in this tent, unless you were very good friends and regularly slept together in very close quarters. Outside...

Tourer Tourer Tourer
Review of Khyam Ridgi-Dome Tourer 400 Tent by
Stg27
Advantages: Easy to erect, quality tent.
Disadvantages: Pricey for some.
...If you are looking for a spacious tent that is easy to erect then you need look no further.
Description:
The tourer 400 is a 4 person tent that has a central living space and two bedrooms, one to the right and one to the left. The main section is high enough for us to stand up in and both bedrooms are well sized. The tourer 400 is offered in khaki/dark green/pistachio colour scheme so may be a little on the boring side if you like a stand out colour for your tent but its functionality more than makes up for that.
Erecting the tent:
I've been a fan of Khyam's external click pole system since I first used it 12 years ago. The ease and speed of putting up the tent is worth every penny. To erect the tent you pull up on a central point at the roof apex and then click opposing elbow joints into place. Next you extend the 4 poles...

PPPPPPPop up a Play Tent
Review of Play Tents by
carolinesite
Advantages: Very easy to store, easy to assemble, gives kids hours of fun
Disadvantages: None
...We brought our son a pop up playtent from a mail order catalogue, just over a year ago, and he just loves it.
It is an action man tent, very safe and well made, and he often plays with it for hours, either in his bedroom or out in the garden (weather permitting).
He has even slept in it on some nights (in his room).
The good thing about these is that they are very real-like, and with one twist they are packed away! So, for something that took up loads of room one minute, has now been slid under the bed, or hung up in it's carry case behind the door.
I have now seen that they make an assortment of these play tents, and they range in price. The action man tent has remained the same price (19.99), but prices now start from as little as £14.75 for the smaller person.
Recommended age starts from 3, although playing with an older...

A DEFINATE MUST
Review of Outbound Resolute 2 person by
Simwwjd
Advantages: SAFE DRY FUN CHEAP
Disadvantages: NONE
...Personally I like all tents, and think that camping is one of the best hobbies, and the advantage with it is that camping is relatively cheap.
All dome tents are suitable for you and a mate to go camping in.
They are normally quite cheap, a decent size, and are very easy to put up.
After a couple of attempts with my tent, I could put it up in under 3 minutes!!!
Yes I did say UNDER 3 MINUTES!!
I couldn't believe the speed and ease of use. Packing it away usually takes a bit longer, but about 5-10 minutes later it is usually packed away (depending on whether it rains or not).
I would say that this is a definate must, and should be bought immediately without delay....

Camping it up
Review of Vango TBS Equinox 250 by
annhunter
Advantages: Stable, value for money, excellent customer services
Disadvantages: Too heavy for backpacking
...I received this tent for Christmas 2003 and it has done me proud. Although its name says 250 (which I assume means it fits 2 and a half poeple) it is comfy as a 2-man and I would not want to try it with an extra person. NOTE this review refers to the old and the current version of this tent.
The reasons I wanted this tent were:
You can pitch the flysheet first (in case of rain)
It can cope with all sorts of weather
Vango have a good reputation
A brief description
This is a long low tent. Half the length contains the sleeping compartment, which is very well esigned with a sewn in groundsheet (of which more later) and lots of pockets along the sides for all those things you don't want to lose. The door of the inner tent can be folded away. The other half of the tent is the porch area with lots of space to put all your stuff. This half...

Coleman Savannah - Ideal family tent.
Review of Coleman Savannah Frame Tent by
Cazpanda
Advantages: Easy to erect
Disadvantages: Can be dark inside
...The Coleman Savannah is a 6 person frame tent. It has an iside height of200cm high which is ample height for the average family! The tent is a kind of octagonal shape with the bedroom area taking 1 half & living area the other. We found the tent very easy to erect with colour coded steel poles which feed through from the outside of the tent, then legs attatched to lift the flysheet & place the tent in positon ready to be pegged down.
There is then a groundsheet for the living area. The inner bedroom tents have an integral groundsheet & the whole thing is hung inside with colour coded hooks. What we particularly like as well is that there is a separate 'storage' area like a zipped up compartment where the cool box & bags ect can be stored. The bedroom has a removeable divider across the width which is a good idea if like us, you have...
