...In our experience (2 years supplying this drive for TiVo upgrades) this is the quietest, coolest and most reliable drive you can buy to upgrade your TiVo or Sky+ It is a 5400rpm drive (unlike most these days which are 7200rpm) and the reduced spindle speed means it generates less heat and therefore runs a lot cooler and with less vibration than 7200rpm drives. This means that your TiVo or Sky+ will run cooler - extending the life of the drive - and the chance of it causing "hum" through vibration transmitted to the box and into your AV cabinet is much reduced too. In fact, the vibration of this drive is often so low that we have to double-check that it's powered on when configuring it as - unlike 7200rpm drives - you often can't feel it spinning when you put your hand on it! ...The Dell M4300 is the laptop of choice for my company. The 4300 has proven to be a very stable laptop, but with stability comes size. They are somewhat bulky, but I feel it is a trade off worth making for the better performance over the smaller models. Also the added size gives room for a bigger battery which can last as much as 3 hours at times. One thing that I do wish that was on the m4300 is a 12-in-1 card reader. I have found it a bit of a pain to not have this simple add-on, forcing me to carry a USB card reader along with me. I would also opt for a larger hard drive than the 80GB, as well as 7200RPM over the 5400RPM. The 2GB of RAM has been plenty for all of my extensive computing needs.... Read review

...Seagate have always made great hard drives and this is no excepetion it reads and writes fast. This drive is one in a new range of seagate drives that use perpendicular recording technology, meaning more space per platter. There is only one bad point to this drive and that is the noise you can here it read this may not be a problem for some but compared to the samsung hard drive I also have in my pc, the seagate makes the most noise (you cant hear the samsung). Good points for this drive include the price its pritty cheap for the price and amount of storage you get, being a seagate you get a nice long 5 year guarantee. I was in need of such high storage capacity because I do some graphics stuff and also I wanted some space for my movie collection. This hard drive has a spindle speed of 7200 rpm, which is common to other Seagate Barracuda hard drives. This is the mainly used speed for a hard drive now adays. This hard drive supports SATA-300 interface. Due to this it can transfer data at a very high speed. It also has a cache buffer of 16 MB, which helps in enhancing its performance. It support Native Command Queuing, which is mainly useful in server systems. This hard drive boosts excellent seek time and transfer rates. It heats up a bit, so, proper air cooling is necessary. ...If you are looking for a good hard disk for your laptop you are looking at the right line of Hard disk from Seagate, the Seagate Momentus is one of the best laptop hard disks out there, I have been using one for some time now and have had it never go wrong, the only down side to the disk the power consumption of it is around 1 amp (5 watts) usually and for most low end disks it is usually around 0.5 amps (2.5 watts), but this is down to the speed of which the disk spins at, a staggering 7200 RPM, for a laptop hard disk this is fast, as most hard disk for laptops only work at ether 4200 RPM or 5400 RPM. Since this hard disk has such a fast spindle, it means that it can read and write like 'Billy Stink' (old expression!)
