Wedgie-world
Review of Blizzard Beach, Florida by
Maia
Advantages: Excellent selection of water rides, fun for all the family
Disadvantages: Like all Disney theme-parks, it is not cheap
...Wedgies are what happen when the material in your underpants/trousers goes up your bottom-crack. In the case of Blizzard Beach Water Park in Orlando, Florida it is what happens when your swimming costume or trunks disappears up your botty, and believe me, it happens with alarming frequency at this waterpark! The rides are wild and wet. You’ll travel at 60mph on some and under these conditions, be prepared to lose your dignity!
Blizzard Beach is Disney’s water theme park. The theme is alpine playground under the setting of Florida sunshine. So, if you can imagine it, there are ski-runs, chair-lifts and toboggan racers … but everyone is walking around in itsy-bitsy swimming cossies!
The first thing you’ll want to do when you enter the park is head to SHOELESS JOE’S and get a locker...

Your first skiing holiday!!
Review of Member Advice on Skiing by
schneckster
Advantages: Thrills spills parties and fun
Disadvantages: Expensive if you're not careful
...is a big question. Again, it can be expensive, but it needn't be if you shop in the right place. Shopping online can give you plenty of bargains so keep a good look out. And of course, the big shows are full of bargains. Online auctions are also pretty good.
A very important point about clothing is this: You may feel hot and sweaty and anything but cold while you ski. You're moving around doing something that is physically demanding. But do not be tempted to wear less. You can easily spend 10 minutes on an open chairlift in a blizzard or strong wind which will make all that sweat turn to ice, or that the very least, make you feel very cold. Hypothermia is no joke so make sure you wear enough to keep you warm when you're standing still at the very top of a mountain.
Once you've noted that the next thing NOT to do is try to follow piste...

BLIZZARD BEACH- a clash between water and snow
Review of Blizzard Beach, Orlando by
05cwestr
Advantages: not bad price, looks amazing, some amazing sildes
Disadvantages: wait time can get very long for slides
...Once long ago in Orlando Florida a freak snow storm hit. A very clever aligator decided to make his millions by building a ski resort in the middle of Orlando! Unfortunatly for the aligator the snow storm was only freak! Ever since then the snow has been melting creating water slides like you have never seen before!
I recently went to blizzard beach a Disney water park with some of the best slides in the world. It is a place for the whole family an adventure you will never forget.
Blizzard beach has some has some of the best slides in the world. These include a slide that reaches 55mph in less than 3 seconds. More over there is one of the longest family river rapids in the world and for those who just like to lie Down a relaxing lazy river, all with a touch of Disney magic. Whats more one of my favorite slides is the taboggen races...

Top Five Resorts For Pre-Christmas Skiing
Review of Member Advice on Skiing by
snowbunni
Advantages: Cheaper, Less Crowded, Atmospheric...
Disadvantages: May Be Cheaper, But Still Not Cheap!
...-pass. There will be enough to contend with at Val Thorens itself, so it's best to save yourself both the expense and the disappointment, unless, of course, snow-conditions are exceptionally good. The village at Val Thorens is purpose-built and relatively new, and can seem a little bleak and soul-less, especially in contrast to its two more picturesque sister-resorts in the valleys below. It's comprised of a large number of grey, high-rise, apartment and hotel complexes, which appear especially stark against their pretty alpine backdrop. However, it does boast some pretty good nightlife, and as said, is situated at a very favourable altitude, presenting some of the most reliable skiing in Europe from November through to March, or even April. I felt keenly aware of the resorts high altitude the first time I visited, in January of 1991. The first Gulf War had just...

Ski Famille,superb family skiing
Review of Ski Famille (Les Gets - France) by
martinprice
Advantages: Quality child care, skiing without worries
Disadvantages: slightly expensive
...If you want to go on a skiing holiday with your whole family, especially young children, then I recommend trying Ski Famille. They are a small company who operate only in Les Gets in France, offering fully catered chalets and all day child care. We have been with them three times and have always been fully satisfied, we have a child who is allergic to all nuts, and the always take particular care when preparing his food. An additional bonus is that the British Alpine Ski School is based in Les Gets and they offer excellent tution with British Instructors. You can get more info about the company from their web site www.skifamille.co.uk
You can either fly there or self-drive, we have always driven it is only about 9 hrs from Calais nearly all by motorway...

Toboggan past the sheep!
Review of Llandudno Ski and Snowboard Centre by
SusanLesley
Advantages: Great views, great fun, great facilities
Disadvantages: Can be a bit expensive
...I have written various reviews about Llandudno, the town itself, the Great Orme, the Tramway and the Copper Mines to be specific. I am very proud of my new home town as you will see in these reviews and so I thought I would tell you about the ski slope that we have here.
The Llandudno Ski & Snowboard Centre is owned and run by John Nike Leisuresport.
It is situated on the Great Orme about 415 feet above sea level so before you even begin to think about skiing, snow boarding etc. you have a fantastic view of Llandudno Bay and the Irish Sea.
The facilities at the centre consist of a 200 metre ski slope and training slopes which have all recently been laid with a Perma Snow surface, a 750 metre 'Cresta Ride' toboggan run, an Alpine Adventure golf course, and Austrian style Alpine Bar and restaurant and free parking.
Courses...

Family Fun at Blizzard Beach
Review of Blizzard Beach, Orlando by
jo28501
Advantages: Great for everyone, Lots of different slides
Disadvantages: Heat of walkways in the summer
...Let's start with a brief introduction... I have been to Blizzard Beach approx. 7 times. Most of the visits were with my parents between 1997 and 2000, however I recently visited twice in January 2007.
WHEN TO VISIT
The "When To Visit" Orlando is a well strung out debate...I have visited in July / August as well as January. Most of it is down to personal preference. We last visited in Janaury (60 - 70 degrees each day) and most people said we'd be mad to try the water parks. Ignore anyone who says this. There is no "good / bad" time to visit Blizzard Beach...if in Walt Disney World, head down, if only for a few hours.
GENERAL INFO
Blizzard Beach is one of Disney's two Orlando Water Parks (the other being Typhoon Lagoon). It is based on a winter wonderland in the sun. All the slides have plastic snow on them to make it look like...

A View From On Top Of The World!
Review of Sunshine, Ski Resort by
ukusa
Advantages: Real Snow, variety of runs and beautiful views
Disadvantages: Can get VERY cold! BELOW -30!!
...The season length is from Mid November to late May . They say in April and May many people actually ski in their swimwear!!
It can get VERY cold! On the last day of our ski it got to below -30!! Unfortunately, I just couldn't take that cold and we only skied for 3 hours on that day with A LOT of warm up breaks!! However, it averaged between -8 to -15 on the other days and if you dress in layers (I had 4), then you won't find it that cold most of the time. The coldest times are always the lifts and expecially if you decide to ski above the Alpine line.
WHAT ABOUT SKI SCHOOL?
My better half has been skiing most of his life as had my in-laws who came with us. I had learned to ski in the Real Snow indoor slope at Castleford called Xscape (I have a review also on this.). Though I knew the basics, I felt I should take some skiing lessons...

SPR694A, Do they deserve their Alpine badge??
Review of Alpine SPR694A by
Mattayre1981
Advantages: These speakers will handle large amounts of power and are more than willing to do so for long periods of time. They have rather punchy bass so I find that they work very well along side a sub and they have great midrange sound.
Disadvantages: Quite weighty so if you're planning on installing them into a standard parcel shelf be prepared to stregthen it, better still would be to replace the shelf with a wooden one.
...I reluctently purchased these 6x9's about 6 months ago after becoming sympathetic with passangers in the rear of my car only being able to hear the constant drowning of sub bass.
Having not run any speakers in the rear for quite some time because I rather spend money on SQ upfront (the place your ears point to) and on sub bass, I was very dubious as to how this would affect the overall sound of the system.
I already had the Alpine SPR176A components up front and was more than happy with them so I thought that I'd give their 6x9 cousins a try.
When they arrived I was impressed by the build quality of the basket and cone, they come with the same silk dome tweater as the Alpine compnents so I pretty much knew what to expect.
I hooked them up to my Alpine 4ch amp and fired them up!! "oooh dear" they sounded dreadful, the bass...

BRUIN ALPINE - great if your baby isn't nosey!
Review of Bruin Alpine Stroller by
Lovin_Angel
Advantages: Pockets in Hood, Suitable from birth, Easy to steer, Lightweight, Shopping basket
Disadvantages: Does not sit bolt upright.
...I bought this stroller from Babies R Us in December 2005. At the time I needed a lightweight stroller due to my 6 month old daughter having grown out of her travel system car seat and the Graco buggy being too heavy to drag in and out of the boot every day during the school run.
Whilst in Babies R Us we saw the Bruin Alpine Stroller. Its style appealed to me and I was even more impressed when I saw the price.
HOW MUCH?
It was originally £69.99 but this particular day it had £10 off so was £59.99 and we also had a voucher for £5 off any stroller over £30 so the final price was £54.99. Bargain.
CAN YOU BUY IT ONLINE?
Yes you can buy it online from the Babies R Us website. If you go to babiesrus.co.uk go to travel, then find pushchairs and on page 2 you should find the Alpine. You can also order it via their catalogue through...
