SPR694A, Do they deserve their Alpine badge??
Review of Alpine SPR694A by
Mattayre1981
Advantages: These speakers will handle large amounts of power and are more than willing to do so for long periods of time. They have rather punchy bass so I find that they work very well along side a sub and they have great midrange sound.
Disadvantages: Quite weighty so if you're planning on installing them into a standard parcel shelf be prepared to stregthen it, better still would be to replace the shelf with a wooden one.
...I reluctently purchased these 6x9's about 6 months ago after becoming sympathetic with passangers in the rear of my car only being able to hear the constant drowning of sub bass.
Having not run any speakers in the rear for quite some time because I rather spend money on SQ upfront (the place your ears point to) and on sub bass, I was very dubious as to how this would affect the overall sound of the system.
I already had the Alpine SPR176A components up front and was more than happy with them so I thought that I'd give their 6x9 cousins a try.
When they arrived I was impressed by the build quality of the basket and cone, they come with the same silk dome tweater as the Alpine compnents so I pretty much knew what to expect.
I hooked them up to my Alpine 4ch amp and fired them up!! "oooh dear" they sounded dreadful, the bass...

Alpine 9855r
Review of Alpine CDA-9855 R by
cward129
Advantages: Alpine 9855r - Touch Glide, BioLite Display, MP3.
Disadvantages: None
...i recently purchased this amazing unit by Alpine from BassJunkies for just over £300. Its a fantastic unit that contains many different features hence the thick user guide that comes with the unit. The unit is fully customizable with the options of changing button colours, background movies, many diifferent preset factory equalisers aswell as manual setupus to customize the sound to your own personal liking.
I have only had the item about a week and i am loving every little detail and feature that it contains. The sound quality through my pioneer rear speakers is spot on as with the bulit in equalisers alows me to make the sound perfect. I previously had a sony but there is no comparison to my new unit.
I thought fitting of this would be a right pain however for £15 pounds i was able to match my car to the lead that come from...

Alipne Speakers, good or simply over-rated
Review of Alpine SPS 6939 by
OUTRAGEOUS_OPINIONS
Advantages: Great Sound, Power
Disadvantages: None
...It was last Sunday when I finally took a trip down to my local Autoradio showroom to purchase some new speakers for the rear of my Renault Clio. I thought that the extra volume and bass that new rear speakers would give would truly enhance the sound system in my car (which is important for me because I spend a lot of time driving)Upon asking the manager for his recommendation, he immediately answered "Alpine" So without further a do I requested that these speakers were fitted into my car.
I must say that they have made a great difference to not only the bass and the volume (which was why I purchased them) but also to the overall sound quality of the stereo. It sounds now like I also upgraded the stereo too! The tweeters give out superbly sharp treble for tracks such as 'Stan' by Eminem and the speakers themselves really do deliver...

Great Quality Speakers
Review of Alpine SPX 137 R by
Massey42
Advantages: Very clear highs and full midrange response
Disadvantages: Weak base
...After trying a few different sets of car speakers (each around the £70 mark) and being dissapointed I finnally decided to take the risk and purchase these high end alpine speakers.
After reading all of the information i could find i decided that these would suit my needs well, im used to high quality Bose systems at home so thought these could produce similar results in my car.
When i got them out of the box my first impressions were of how well they appeared to be made, the cast aluminium frame and the multi-role surround on the cone gave an immediate impression of the quality. The included crossovers also carried on this quality feel.
Installing them in my car was simple, remove the old speakers and fit the woofers, then find a suitable place for the crossover and route the cabling for the tweeters to the dash board where i chose...

BRUIN ALPINE - great if your baby isn't nosey!
Review of Bruin Alpine Stroller by
Lovin_Angel
Advantages: Pockets in Hood, Suitable from birth, Easy to steer, Lightweight, Shopping basket
Disadvantages: Does not sit bolt upright.
...I bought this stroller from Babies R Us in December 2005. At the time I needed a lightweight stroller due to my 6 month old daughter having grown out of her travel system car seat and the Graco buggy being too heavy to drag in and out of the boot every day during the school run.
Whilst in Babies R Us we saw the Bruin Alpine Stroller. Its style appealed to me and I was even more impressed when I saw the price.
HOW MUCH?
It was originally £69.99 but this particular day it had £10 off so was £59.99 and we also had a voucher for £5 off any stroller over £30 so the final price was £54.99. Bargain.
CAN YOU BUY IT ONLINE?
Yes you can buy it online from the Babies R Us website. If you go to babiesrus.co.uk go to travel, then find pushchairs and on page 2 you should find the Alpine. You can also order it via their catalogue through...

I love my twin alpine.
Review of Mothercare Urban Detour Twin Alpine by
lingdar
Advantages: Easy to push and steer, appears comfortable.
Disadvantages: Heavy to lift when folded, shopping basket awkward to get to.
...I bought my Mothercare urban detour twin alpine three wheeler pushchair 2 1/2 years ago after having twins. I needed a pushchair that was suitable for 2 newborns, easy to push and strong enough to last until my children were walking. We had looked at many before deciding on this one.
The twin alpine is suitable from birth, has a lockable front swivel wheel, quick release rear tyres, pneumatic tyres with a pump, and comes with removable cosytoes, a raincover and a shopping basket. It is from Mothercare and is priced at £230. There has been has change in the fold mechanism since I bought mine. It is now one-handed but i can't comment on how easy that is.
My pushchair has had heavy use, it is a dream to push, the children appear to be very comfortable in it and it is easy to fold and open.
Disadvantages that I have found...

Pounding bass for your pound
Review of Alpine SWD 1600 by
salsacolin
Advantages: Great Bass, Very Compact, only £100
Disadvantages: None that I have found so far
...Alpine have always held a high position of regard for in car entertainment since I first installed a complete 1250w sound system back in 1990.
I own a Peugeot 206cc and have installed an Alpine DVD head unit and although more than impressed with the standard speakers (which I hope to upgrade at some stage with a set of JBL's) when the roof is down it hard for any standard set of speakers to provide the bass required.
There is also a severe limitation to available space, I had seen an installation wich would have completely filled my boot but I was after a more practical solution. Enter the Alpine SWD 1600's, although only 6.5" this 150w active sub on paper at least met my requirements.
Alpine market the Subwoofer as a Fill in for the main cabin of a car in a big installation (where the subs are usually located in the boot...

Pump up the jam
Review of Alpine CDA-9851R by
skuzzle
Advantages: Best sound quality in its price range
Disadvantages: Ugly as sin
...The ultimate in ICE (in car entertainment). ALPINE!
A big name for many years in the automotive industry delivering some of the best amplifiers, headunits and speakers available.
The CDA range definately does not dissapoint. Featuring all of the classic alpine qualities including the old alpine look with the 4 buttons to the left of the round volume control (which now functions as a whole lot more).
Its an absolutely ugly headunit as all alpines are, a pig to operate and I dont think there is anyone in the world that has mastered every option on an alpine unit since they first started producing them, but from the moment you first power it up you fall in love with the depth, warmth and clarity of the sound reproduction. My favourite trick is to leave the eq exactly as it comes from factory, but to increase the subwoofer output...

iPod speakers
Review of Altec Lansing IM3 Ipod speakers by
xxnatashaxx
Advantages: Portable and lightweight
Disadvantages: You have to be very careful with them.
...I received these speakers as a Birthday present in March from a friend. I was thrilled with them as I had been desperate for a docking station or speakers to play my iPod on.
The speakers:
The speakers are very attractive and compact yet produce a rich deep bass sound, which is not always present on speakers of this size. They are very lightweight and fold to close at 15 ounces and 8 inches wide, 5.4 inches deep and 1.2 inches thick. The box the speakers come in quotes "With four AA batteries your speakers will play continuously for twenty-four hours" which sounds brilliant but in my experience on 2 x AA batteries they will play for 19 hours.
As well as built in controls there is a wireless remote but you do have to be quite near to the speakers and at the right angle for the remote to actually work!
The speakers also act...

Are you after some new speaker's?
Review of Monitor Audio Silver S1 Bookshelf Speakers by
consumerpower
Advantages: Looks, sound, build, just about everything really
Disadvantages: You can't buy them new anymore, Monitor Audio has replaced them with a newer model the RS1
...how well they are built. With a beautifully crafted real wood veneer, a very modern looking silver alloy driver and a gold coloured metallic tweeter protected by silver mesh they manage to mix the old with contemporary perfectly. Too many speaker's within the S1's price and performance range have a very bland, old fashioned appearance. At the other end of the spectrum very modern and exotically styled speakers do so at the expensive of looking a bit cheap and plasticky. The S1's balanced appearance of old with new was what first attracted me to them .
One of the unique features I like most about the design is the fact that the round metal mesh protecting the tweeter can be removed, in the same way you would remove the speaker cover's. This is a feature that will help improve your ability to hear the tweeter accurately and you may...
