Airport Express-Unplug Your Apple
Review of Apple Airport Extreme Card by
jonb3
Advantages: Makes your computer wireless.
Disadvantages: A bit fidly to install
...If you are thinking about getting one but are worried about compatability without the Apple base station there really is no need it works with the BT hub fantastically and has excellent coverage all over the house. It does everything that I need it to and at a very reasonable price. BUT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS....

Ice cool
Review of Apple Pro - keyboard by
antsss
Advantages: Typical Apple sense of style, very comfortable
Disadvantages: Gets dirty easily, no 'hash' key
...A keyboard is a keyboard, right? Not these days. Computer manufacturers have wised up to Apple's rebirth after they released their original cute, colourful iMac computer. Gone are beige boxes, beige keyboards and... well, beige everything, really. Nowadays, you not only have to buy peripherals compatible with your computer, you have to colour co-ordinate them too. Of course, you may argue that the colour of the boxes and buttons on your desk is not important, and yes, you're probably right. But isn't it lovely to have an object of beauty sitting on your desk?
With an Apple, you have the option of co-ordinating everything - your monitor, your base unit, keyboard, mouse, printer, even your wireless base station. With the launch of the new iMac, eMac and iBook ranges, Apple switched from fruity colours and wild patterns to simple glacial...

Look no wires!
Review of Apple Airport Extreme Card by
moosemac
Advantages: Easy install, fast connection, excellent range, good price
Disadvantages: Can only use in Apple Mac computers
...I have these wireless cards in all my new Apple computers and they work perfectly with all wireless networks I've needed to join at home and away. This card is far more powerful and speedy than it's predecessor, and the original Airport card is excellent quality also, so it had a lot to live up to. If you run an older Apple computer I'm afraid you will have to stick with the old Airport card as the new Airport Extreme card is a different shape and size (the old one will connect to newer networks using "g" though).
The new Airport Extreme allows you to run a faster network connection and it holds a stronger signal over a wider area, making it great for business or home use. The price of this card has dropped dramatically since it's introduction, it now retails for around £30.00 from official retailers but I'm sure you could pick it up...

My first apple - a great little machine
Review of Apple iBook G4 - PPC G4 1 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
AlecHodgson
Advantages: small, good looking, OSX operating system, good battery life
Disadvantages: quite slow, for some the fact that it is an apple
...The ibook was my first real experience with apple computers - I'm a student who is not interested in computers, but likes to have all the functions a computer can perform. Previously I had owned a 'time' computer - so appallingly unreliable I decided to get rid of it after a year.
In all honesty, the best advice I can give to anyone considering purchasing an ibook is "try it". I borrowed a friend's ibook for a day and simply fell in love with the computer. Easy to use, small, light and well designed, I have little criticism.
Briefly, the spec of my machine is as follows:
Apple ibook,
Screen: 12"
hd: 60gb
memory: 384mb
OSX operating system ]
Wireless base station and card
COST: all for around £1200
Despite the fact that the machine is white, the computer is very durable, as the white is coated in a layer of clear plastic which hides...

TAKE A BITE AND BUY AN APPLE
Review of Apple MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz - 13.3" TFT by
jonnydeppontv
Advantages: no viruses, looks good, easy to use, Its an Apple
Disadvantages: NONE!
...shop and go to a genius bar and ask for a demo and for a play on one - after a few hours its like riding a bike!
One thing that I must congratulate Apple on - the packaging. They have used their senses. Small box, no hefty thick manuals, just a small thin box with CDs, paperwork, leads and the laptop (oh and few stickers!) They are even environmentally friendly! No loads of polystyrene to throw away. They have thought of everything.
Oh, you can upgrade your Apple also - fancy more memory/power - you can just pop in more of it in the base of the laptop or if you don't fancy doing it then pop into a store.
Also, one good thing is the powercord. Unlike other laptops - even old Apples they now have a quick release powercord which if you knock the wire just quickly releases the cord from the laptop without pulling the laptop onto the floor...

Desktop Computing at its best
Review of Apple iMac Indigo - PPC G3 500 MHz - 15" CRT by
Spike5792
Advantages: Excellent design, power and performance packed into one.
Disadvantages: Empties your bank account
...The Apple iMac
Four years ago Apple released their very first iMac designed for the home and professional user that didn’t want a big beige box that had to be hidden away under the desk. Apple’s solution to this problem was the iMac. The previous generation of iMac’s came in many fruity colours. This year (2002) Apple has come up with a new design based on the lampshade concept.
The iMac changed the world. It was the start of a new notion that focused on the all in one digital hub that was attractive, stylish and modern but they didn’t want it to be just eye candy sitting on the office desk, they wanted a machine that was all those things but also had the power and flexibility of the PC. The new iMac is all these things and more! I can personally vouch for that. The hand picked hardware is all manufactured by Apple so quality...

Review of Muller Rice by
ShellyQ1975

Disadvantages: Quite Addictive

Excellent stylish keyboard
Review of Apple keyboard by
wicker_man
Advantages: Comfortable to type on, compact, stylish, has USB ports, cheap
Disadvantages: USB ports only 1.1, shows up dirt more than black keyboards
...display (which has USB ports) which saves on cable clutter. If you want to connect the keyboard to the base unit (such as a Power Mac or Mac Pro) or use a non-Apple monitor, then you can use the USB extension lead. The extension lead has a notch to use with only Apple keyboards because it is a USB 1.1 device.
Usage
--------------------
The keyboard is very nice to type on. Pressing a key has a nice firm feel and good amount of travel. Instead of having flip down legs which easily get broken, the keyboard is moulded with a nice tilt and is very comfortable to type on.
There are also volume up/down/mute and disc eject keys. There are two USB 1.1 ports on the back of the keyboard which is very convenient for low power devices such as mice, bluetooth donges etc. They are not designed for USB hard drives etc.
I experimented by plugging...

Apples from your garden
Review of Apple by
Aquarian
Advantages: Grow your own apples
Disadvantages: can be tricky
...Two years ago I was given two apple trees for my garden, I was very happy about this because if you visit your local garden centre to buy one you'll probably have to pay anything from 10 pounds to 15 pounds, for a tree which may only produce a few apples on it's first year.
The types of trees I have are Worcester Pearmain and Cox's, these are well known varieties which produce a good crop.
The Cox's should be planted with other apple trees as they are not self fertile, so they need another tree for the bee's to do their job.
During the summer months the apple trees blossom, which is a really nice sight in my garden and attracts the bees.
The blossom goes and you can see the little apples growing on the tree. I feed the soil around the base of the trees with a nitrogen fertilizer to get a good crop.
If you buy a tree from a garden...

Excellent ipod
Review of Apple iPod Nano 2GB white by
Cristod
Advantages: Great,Holds lots of songs, looks good, good quality
Disadvantages: none
...The iPod is an MP3 player, as it has a hard drive you can also use it as a storage device. While that is true of many MP3 players, including the devices based on flash memory, you'll find your iPod has plenty of storage capacity. The original iPod came in 5GB, 10GB and 15GB versions, but it's been revised to 10GB, 15GB and 30GB. Our 15GB unit had 13.8GB available for use which is good for some 2,200 songs recorded at a high-quality setting of 192KB/sec. You'll get more at lower sampling rates, with Apple reckoning on 7,500 songs for the top-capacity version.
Despite the hard drive technology the iPod is a tiny unit, about the size of a pack of playing cards but half as thick. This is thanks to the low profile, 1.8-inch Toshiba hard drive, and it is genuinely pocket-sized. It also looks very stylish, with the front half moulded in pearl...
