Arai Quantum F to protect my thoughts
Review of Arai Quantum/f Helmet by
Mr_Farlock
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...In the last 10 years I’ve changed 4 motorbikes and many many helmets: this year I’ve decided to buy an Arai NR-3 after having the opportunity to try a Quantum F for a few months.
I toght it was time to buy an helmet not for the look, but for having the best safety!
First I would like to say that Arai helmets have different prices but the same quality and protection power. You can buy other good helmets, expecially FM and Shoei, but most of the bikers know that Arai is the best for one main thing: the shell!
The Arai one piece superfibre laminate constructed shell, combines styling with protection.
The helmet is constructed in such way that the energy of a severe impact is absorbed through partial destruction of the shell and the inner shell.
In general two kinds of materials are used for the outer shell of helmets...

Top Arai helmet for style and protection!
Review of Arai Condor Ice by
jpasurvey44
Advantages: Protection, designs/style, vents, visor changing ease, removeable insides
Disadvantages: Noise and Price (depending on budget for safety)!
...I was bought a Yellow designed Arai Condor a couple of years ago (couldn't find yellow to review so chose blue/same helmet, different colour) for a Birthday pressy which cost approx £350 (Don't know how much exactly due to it being a pressy).
I thought straight away that the design (not just the colour for me) was smart, striking and up to date. Arai is one of the top manufacturers of helmets in my mind and a brand name too in the motorcycling world! They are used by top racers in everything from British Supersport to Moto GP and have been around for years.
The vents are minimal and easy to use with gloved hands, especially the chin vent. The Arai helmets also have vented visors which are rare and are easily opened/closed to allow extra air flow through the top of the helmet. The air flow helps keep the head cool in warm weather, I...

astro van high roof conversion
Review of Chevrolet Astro Van by
ray3009
Advantages: safe family carrier
Disadvantages: none
...astro van high roof conversion van! for a full size luxury family carrying vehicle the astro van has every thing, from gorgeous leather seats to full video and dvd entertainment.
dont be put off by the big 4.3l vortec engine its a pure pedigree with fuel economy around the 23 to 28 mpg mark same as a shogun 2.8 but the quality of the ride out ways the economy.
from the first moment you sit in the astro the feel of the vehicle suggests quality with all the switches and controls in easy reach of a some what laid back driving position(fully adjustable by electrics)
and the power of the vehicle is phenomenal very like the ride you get on a jumbo jet so smooth.
transmission changes flow with no noticable jerking this is truly a long distance vehicle and with all wheel drive it has the ability to take on many varied types of terrain...

Understated excellence
Review of Arai SV by
dobieg
Advantages: Proper fit, well made, good finish
Disadvantages: non-removable liner
...Helmets are bit like shoes, they serve a very basic purpose, often sold on the basis of styling, but fundamentally, the fit is key!
I've used an SV for a couple of years now, and for the money, would suggest there's very little to beat this 'lid'.
I've tried 'budget' helmets, but found they didn't fit my head especially well, and got downright uncomfortable after a couple of hours.
Which is where the Arai came in - I'd started to do some serious road trips - one of 100 miles or more. The budget helmet was just like a cheap pair of shoes, and was beginning to pinch, giving me headaches.
Nothing for it I thought, time for a decent lid.
Arai came up trumps.
They make numerous high-tech models, many with garish graphics, countless ventilation holes, and cost a bloomin' fortune.
But then there's the SV.
The SV...

Murders, Mistakes, Misfits
Review of Astro Zombies DVD by
ThePolarOne
Advantages: Unintentional laughs, toy robots
Disadvantages: Very slow and hard to follow
...81. Astro-Zombies (1968)
A women drives home and is stabbed to death by a man in a skull like mask. A group of toy robots and a toy tank battle on the sidewalk by a smoke machine. A seemingly dead man is dragged away from his wrecked car. A tape recorder rewinds. Another man drives down the freeway. In his next feat, director Ted V Mikels will attempt to tie these unrelated plot strands (from the first five minutes of the movie) together. Except for the robots. I mean really, what the heck was that about? Although it made a hilarious title sequence, and is possibly my favourite scene of all.
Sadly the promise of a title such as Astro-Zombies isn't lived up to. There are no flesh eating creatures, a la George Romero. Nor are there any direct links to space. The first glimmer of a plot comes when we hear CIA agents talk about...

The other side of super-heroes
Review of Astro City - Life in the Big City - Kurt Busiek by
DavidBedford
Advantages: A fascinatingly different take on the super-hero genre
Disadvantages: None to speak of
...Kurt Buseik’s Astro City has been running (on and off) for the last few years, through a variety of publishers. It is a superhero title, but is far from being of the standard bill of fare. The focus of the series is not on hero/villain conflict, but on the effects these can have on the many people involved, costumed or otherwise. Writer Kurt Buseik is keen to point out in his introduction to this volume, which collects the first six issues of Astro City, that it isn’t a case of ‘what if superheroes existed in our world?’ but ‘what would it be like to live in their world?’ The answers are fascinating. Read on…
SETTING
Astro City doesn’t have a central set of characters as such, and each chapter in the story is told from the perspective of a different person, super or otherwise. The city itself is an important part of the story...

Will you be doing the Astro?
Review of the White Stripes - The White Stripes by
pesky33
Advantages: More of the same if you enjoyed Elephant
Disadvantages: 17 tracks - so some are bound to be weaker than others
..., with its layers of different guitars. “St James’ Infirmary” uses a piano instead of a guitar to great effect, and Jacks’ singing is especially fluidly lazy on this track.
SONGS THAT SOUND LIKE THE WHITE STRIPES
The guitars on “The Big Three Killed My Baby” remind me of a lot of the songs on “White Blood Cells”, the White Stripes third album, and I just love the line “Because creative minds are lazy, and the big three killed my baby”. The guitars on “Slicker Drips” are in a similar vein, but it’s not such a good song until it gets past the confused first chorus and starts to speed up towards the end.
“Astro” is a strange one. First hearing it sounds a bit monotonous, as it’s just a list of people who ‘…do the astro’, but there’s something about the tune that’s quite infectious, and I’m often found stomping around the kitchen drying up...

'Some people are on the pitch...'
Review of Adidas Team Mundial Astro Turf G. Classic by
greenierexyboy
Advantages: Excellent performance, very comfortable
Disadvantages: You're slightly paying for that quality
......they're called 'the players' Kenneth, you big eejit.
Having managed over my 36 years to construct a body so biased towards the right side as to make J Edgar Hoover proud, the gradual emergence of a large hole in my football boots strategically placed directly over my starboard big toe was something that needed addressing. Some might suggest that some warm milky tea and retirement were the appropriate course of action, but as fully paid-up member of the Rage Against The Dying Of The Light Brigade, I opted for the 'replacement' option. And so it came to pass that my not-that-dainty-Size-Tens were easing their way into a pair of Adidas Team Mundial Astro Turf G. Classics.
The selection had not been arbitrary. Online searches of football forums had revealed the odd supporter capable of coherent written English, and once they...
