Much improved sequel
Review of Croc 2 (PSX) by
ladydina
Advantages: Better graphics, held my attention a long time - wouldn't stop until I'd completed it, extra bonus for those who complete the game
Disadvantages: Still a bit predictable - but we love it really
...After not being overly impressed with the Croc original, this follow up version was much better. With better homes to trot around, better enemies and tasks set it was a lot more fun. In the first Croc the levels were set up so that you had to complete the current one before you could go onto the next one. In the follow up you are in a land and you have 5 levels, which you can walk around to and do in any order you please. There are also levels which introduce a new range of Croc skills, such as a racing level, a boat racing level, a handglider level, a balloon level and one rather odd level where you're riding a giant snowball! With the gems you collect throughout all the levels you can purchase items to use in the levels, some of which are necessary to collect all the coloured gems, or complete the task set you. In most levels...

Fun Game for Kids and Beginners
Review of Hercules: Action Game (PC) by
EarthGirl
Advantages: Fun easy game play
Disadvantages: probably too easy for hardend gamers
...This is a fun game for those who don't like complicated game play, or blood and guts. It is a simple scrolling platform game where you run, jump, punch and slice with your sword. As the game progresses you move through the story of the film with each level based on a different scene. Once you have completed a level you get a short animated scene from the film that advances the story and moves you on to the next level of the game.
Passwords are easy to come by as you simply collect 4 large Urns that are scattered throughout the level, when you reach the end of the level and have collected all 4 Urns you are given a password that means you can skip all the levels you have completed upto that point in the game and go straight to the beginning of the next level the next time you play, this is essential as there is no game save facility...

Laser level cheap as chips!
Review of Black & Decker Manual Straight Line Laser Level by
XtremeOllie
Advantages: Cheap and quick alternative to levels and comes with pouch.
Disadvantages: No auto-leveling feature
...Laser levels have been around for few years now but only recently have models been released with more sensible price ranges and features.
Take for example this black and decker version, for many people using a level is a way of getting a shelf or a picture straight so why bother spending £100 on a one use tool that you get out every time you decorate. This model is around £20 in shops and replaces the need for struggleing with a long level, drill, pencil, tape measure and what ever your leveling!
Simply attach this tool to the wall using the clever magnet system and accessories and turn it on, all you need to do now is level up the bubble and stand bacl and admire a long straight laser line all around your wall, such a simple yet important tool to have to save you time and effort.
If your just looking for a simple leveling tool...

Good Base Textbook
Review of Psychology: The Science of Mind and Behaviour - Paul Humphreys, Richard Gross by
soulmateskv
Advantages: Covers a wie range of concepts
Disadvantages: Lacks finer details
...A perfect introduction to psychology, ideal for any A-level psychology course. Very broad coverage and written in a simple style. However, this applies strictly to A-level courses ONLY. For psychology undergraduates this book doesn't cover approaches in nearly enough depth that is required. A fantastic base gudie at A-level, not so fantastic for a degree. The book on some occasions is not clearly structured, so the reader may be require to refer back or forth between the other chapters to clarify a theory or concept further as it lacks the finer details. The language of the text is of a mediocar level which is perfect for 'A' level students. Overall, it is a good textbook for 'A' level students, highly recommended but with other supplementary books to assist the students....

worlds no.1 n64 game
Review of Goldeneye (N64) by
swhyte
Advantages: cool fighting
Disadvantages: ???
...Goldeneye has to be the world's no.1 n64 game. It has brilliant features and a cool 4 player. It has cool levels but they are pretty hard. I have completed all of the levels but a got my friends to help. But on the way you would have collated some cheats to help you. But theres two secret levels at the end. To play them you have to complete all the levels and do them on agent, secret agent and 077 agent. But I have not completed them yet. But you will need some cheats to help you....

Addictive and Original Game
Review of Silent Bomber (PSX) by
danny252
Advantages: Addictive, easy to play, top notch class
Disadvantages: Steep Learning curve later in the game
...Two different genres of games brilliantly put together in one. All the pick up and play, non stop addictiveness of Bomber Man. Combined expertly with a 3D arcade platformer. Run and jump around the levels, throwing bombs and blowing up a whole host of bad guys, bonuses and end of level bosses. Very easy to get into, takes time to master. The later levels will have you coming back time after time, until you get the hang of them. But all non stop action and 100% addictive. Will certainly challenge you in the later levels. A original one of a kind game, a must have....

Rare show how its done
Review of Perfect Dark (N64) by
curran
Advantages: Excellent solo and multiplayer modes and excellent speech.
Disadvantages: Perfect agent could be too hard for some.
...I bought this game a couple of days after its release. A couple of months earlier I had just completed Goldeneye(ashamedly about 2 years since I purchased it)and I was looking forward to it. If I had reviewed it then, I would have obviously said it was perfect but I decided to wait until the hype had died down before I made my judgement.
My initial reaction remains - Perfect Dark is just that. Recently a certain magazine has given it a knocking. This magazine (whom I will not name) has said the solo player level designs are poor in comparison with Goldeneye. Admittedly there are some levels in Perfect Dark which I believe are poor but at the same time I believed there were some tedious levels in Goldeneye.
The following are some of my favorite set pieces in the game from the first few levels:
1st level: There is nothing like...

Ten Times Better than Crash 1 or 2.
Review of Crash Bandicoot 3 (PSX) by
mikec1uk
Advantages: Good Value For Money
Disadvantages: Levels are like each other
...Crash Bandicoot 3 is quite a long game, but it could have been a lot longer. It is a good game, with twenty-five levels to complete, then five in another room, and then yet another two hidden levels. There is not only walking and running along on this game, but you also get to ride motorbikes, tigers, and dinosaurs. To complete one of the levels, you have to find all of the boxes, a gem which is somewhere on the level, and get a fast time in the time trial. This can take a while to do for every level, so the enjoyment of the game can last for a long time. If you like Crash Bandicoot games, this is a must. It is a lot better than Crash Bandicoot 1 and 2....

Super Monkey ball: Banana Blitz
Review of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz (Wii) by
konradsean
Advantages: Brilliant level design, great fun
Disadvantages: Limited single player mode
..., or holding the B button and flicking the wii-mote upwards. Both work equally well and Sega have left it to you to decide which to use.
As always, the levels are brilliantly thought out, beginning with easy levels to get you into the game and then harder levels to almost impossible levels. The bonus levels have been left in and gladly so as they provide frantic fun. In the main levels, they have been quite generous with time limits on most of the big levels but on the smaller, tighter levels you may struggle a few times. Often, on the huge levels, there is a way to skip most of it by a timed jump. A level lasting two minutes can take three seconds if you know what you are doing.
Making their debut to the series and once again quite controversially so are the boss levels. They do their job in breaking up the intense level completing and do so...
