With a battery life of 3-4 hours when fully charged the Asus EEE is a wonderful mobile companion. I would choose it over devices costing more than double (see some of my other reviews), as its a prime example of the manufacturer being on-the-ball and creating a really usable PC at a bargain basement price. I would love to get my hands on the larger screen version as it can be slightly annoying having to use the horizontal scroll-bar to read some web content but that's down to website developers not thinking about what platform their sites will be viewed on. ...You get what you pay for with the Eee Pc. This bite-size laptop (oh, that's the one for children right?) comes in a neat, sleek package that makes you want to purr with pleasure. It feels good, it is very, very easy to set up out of the box and to connect to wireless broadband (my Windows experiences with wi-fi have ALWAYS ended in tears). You can email on or off-line, surf the web, write documents, spreadsheets and presentations and (joy of joys) play Solitaire. You can send MSN messages and use Skype with a webcam included (on the 4G version, not sure about the others) and all of this without Windows. It uses Linux as the OS but if you're desperate the option to install a variety of Windows OS is there. Though why would you want to? ...in the future though just like anything does so a lot of you might want to wait a little longer before getting your hands on one of these. The asus eee pc is really small and versatile, its just 225 by 35 by 165mm which really isn't big at all. Unlike many other pc tablets of this size this one does look exactly like a laptop which is something I really like about it. It can come in a whole range of different colours however the only one I have used is the white one and is probably the one id get if I was going to buy one. A downside from some peoples point of view is the small keyboard, now I'm not the fastest typer anyway and one this small keyboard I did tend to make even more mistakes than I usually do on a normal keyboard. This is something you do get used to though and after a couple of days using it I had noticeably got better... Read review

...What a cracking little machine. The way things are going with the sub laptop market. Although it runs on Linux, it is simple to boot up (in under 20 secs) and use from the moment you open the box, and you can run it on Windows if you need to. Although I wouldn't, as this version of Linux does all that you need and more, and saves you from all the security headaches that Windows can cause. Linux comes with built-in antivirus and firewall - you don't need separate programs. Linux is an Open Source software with a huge community of developers behind it, so there are now thousands of programs to run on Linux, and a support community which puts the large corporations to shame. ...it come. Included with the laptop is a disc to upgrade the eeepc to windows, something I have not done, as you need a computer to do this. I may try this, but I don't really see any major benefits to doing this. The last thing I will mention is the very small hard drive (2gb). I also have a computer (which isn't with me atm) so the space space available isn't really a problem for me. I have a sd card for extra storage, and could always buy an 8gb storage card should I feel the need or even get an external hard drive. Overall I really love this device. It comes everywhere with me. The battery doesn't last long (2-3hrs I've found) but hey, I'm never often far from a power socket.... Read review

However the 4G fills up quickly if your saving all of your work on the flash drive,I suggest buying either an SD card or like I did an external hard drive. Learn: The learn tabs are helpful for school children, teaching them of constellations and the periodic table, but it also good for students like me with software to draw graphs using f(x)= and a certain function. Play: First of all this is not a laptop to buy for an avid gamer, it is not a gaming laptop. It has some nice, simple games like crack attack and frozen bubble which are good if your really bored. ...for me so having the solid state HDD is brilliant. Finally, considering what you get for your money, its excellent value. Other portable laptop are quite expensive, sometimes in excess of £2000 so this is a breath of fresh air.... Read review
