...to find an 'axe' a legendary guitar, but they believe that they need a leader, 'The One' and they believe it to be Galileo. I am not going too much into the plot as I don't want to spoil it for those who have not seen it yet, at present a few of the stars in the show are:- Mark Arden - Pop (Neil in the Young Ones) Hannah Jane Fox as Scaramouche Mig Ayesa as Galilieo Mazz Murray as Killer Queen (Bob Monkhouse's god-daughter) Clive Carter as Khashoggi Nigel Clauzel as Britney And Jenna Lee-James Meat (loaf) This musical is defiantly worth going to see even if you are not into Queen, every one knows some of their songs and will love standing at their seats singing along to the hits. Do be wary though if you have kids and are thinking of taking them, there are a few 'rude' suggestions whilst the dancing 'troops' are dancing around... Read review

Advantages: Strong characters, strong story, amazing twist at the end!
Disadvantages: Too short!!

...I discovered Val McDermid purely by accident, having been sent this book as part of a book club set. Being short of reading material I decided to give it a go and suddenly became emeshed in one of the most mesmorising books I have ever read. As a fan of Minnette Walters, Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs I am a big fan of 'intelligent' fiction, where you use your brain as you read. The Mermaids Singing and indeed all of Val's books I have read, certainly come into the brain using mould. The book tantalises you right from the start, using excerpts from the killer's own log and introducing to the mind of a violent genius. The main characters from the policing side are extremely believeable, strong in their roles and yet with subtle human weaknesses beneath their tough working exteriors. Advantages: The women and the fact I watched this movie drunk
Disadvantages: Not original, bad murder scenes

...underwear stealer. The only help you get is when the killer knocks an axe in his back then out you can finally say “yea he’s not the killer”. The female cast is the only real thing that kept me from leaving (that and finally finding out some history about the killer, which never came by the way). Most of the girls were very attractive however they had the survival instincts of a lemming. However the rather disappointing part was that my baby Katherine Heigl (who was in “Bride of Chucky”) was the first person to die. Thank God my friends were there I would’ve walked out right there. The first murder scene was probably the best one in the whole movie. It was suspenseful and shocking, though completely expected and unsurprising. Advantages: Amazing visuals and action scenes, funny moments
Disadvantages: Very very silly

...they have nothing for the gang to steal, but also because the street is filled with martial arts masters, most important amongst them a big, rude landlady with a scream that literally blows you away. Chow plays a kung fu wannabe, Sing, who dreams of joining the axe gang because “the good guys never win”. However, fate has a different agenda, and Sing ends up defending the street against not just the gang but also the world’s top killer, known only as The Beast. Perhaps that Buddhist Palm Kung Fu booklet he was given on the street as a child will come in handy at last… Although it’s not the most thought-provoking or demanding of films, Kung Fu Hustle does actually get a little bit more complicated than that; there’s a subplot involving a girl he was friends with as a child, and there are a couple of twists and turns along the way... ...Hi, Having doing hillwalking and low grade rock climbing for a number of years i though i would take the plunge into winter walking. Last year i bought myself a pair of Grivel G10 crampons and the above axe. The axe is 60cm in length with a wrist lensh on the shaft. The axe head is study and joined to shaft with an eyelet rivet, the same as most axes of this type. The shaft of the axe sounds hollow giving it it's light weight. This does not mean that it is weak, as I used it once as as a hanhold, jaming the axe horizontal across the top of two boulders and hauling myself up on it, the shaft did not bend and their is no sign of cracking. The shaft appears to have a protective coating on it that also allows for extera grip by having loads of small raised bubbles on it. The head of the axe, is quit tough, and has not been disfigured... Advantages: Will turn your hair white! Great Movie!

...) and Danny Lloyd (Son). The real scare factor comes from not just the nightmarish visions that the family are witness but mainly from jack Nicholson's character's gradual decline into insanity. If you think of most horror films around today the killer is mostly some crazed killer / monster who hacks people up with a hook or a bloody great knife. The real scare here is that the killer is some one you love, your father, your husband, and they have switched from being that person you care about into some one you don't recognise anymore. Oh and they want to hack you up with a huge Axe! I have yet to see a film that really has the shinning beat on the scare factor. I had a friend over who had never seen this movie, we stuck it on. He didn't want to go home that night. I think if I pointed out the scariest bits I would ruin it for anyone who hasn... Read review

Advantages: Intelligent and scary horror thriller
Disadvantages: Perhaps Paxton should not have played the father

...way. Also, even though the killings are done with an axe and therefore are clearly of a gory nature you do not actually see the gore - only the axe being swung and the noise it makes. This is not a blood and guts horror but rather one of those of the far more effective psychological type. In fact you could say it is really just a story of a serial killer with the only supernatural element being that the killer is apparently driven by messages from God. As we often hear of killers using the excuse that God told them to do it then this is a perfectly believable premise for a story. The nature of the film is made more horrifying by the fact that the children are persuaded to be involved in the killings. It concentrates on the effect of the killings on the children (particularly Fenton), the trauma they go through and the horror they witness... Read review

...to rehabilitation. However, there are certain types of murderers who hide in the shadows of the school gate and leer at the innocent from the park bench. The paedophiles that seem to have grown in their numbers through the mediums of the technology we are now using, do not feel remorse. They kill to hide the sordidness of their twisted minds, minds that cannot be rehabilitated through the soft touches of the pathetic do-gooders. So many children over the past few years have died by their hands and have brought tears to our eyes. We pity the families whose children have gone and feel their anger with the courts that are powerless to pass the judgement that is desired by the majority. The families of the murdered child should be given the chance to press the button, to yield the axe or to hang draw and quarter. The execution should be live on box... Read review

Advantages: Giant killer snowman

...Starring Stephen Mendel, F William Parker, Rob Labelle, Eileen Seeley and Scott MacDonald as Jack Frost! Packaging - Big scary skull with pointy teeth, this has nothing to do with anything in the film! Rating - 18 (UK) Plot - Convicted serial kiler Jack Frost is on his way to be executed when the van carrying him is overturned after colliding with an 18-wheeler and he escapes - however just as he breaks free of the prison van the tanker (which is filled with genetic material filled acid ) explodes and melts him into the snow below his feet. Needless to say he comes back as a killer snowman who travels to a small town in the mountains intent on gaining revenge over the police officer who captured him and sent him to jail. Review - The film contains lots of laughs as the townspeople concoct various ludicrous methods to finally see off... Read review
