Excellent choice for a midrange system
Review of B & W DM 602/S3 by
PJHilder
Advantages: Amazing sound, great build quality.
Disadvantages: Needs careful positioning to stop the bass becoming 'boomy'.
...a few more years and i've not got a new place with a larger room. It's then I realise my old Sony speakers just aren't up to the job any more.
Still with me?
Anyway it's at this point I decided to get some decent speakers to match my amp and cd player. After reading many good reviews of both B&W and Kef I decided to audtion some. I looked into the Kef Q1s and the B&W 602 S3.
After much listening I decided the B&W's suited the music I listened to better.
# About #
The 602 is the largest of the 3 standmounts in the 600 range.
Coming in at 21kg for both speakers in one large box these probably aren't the best speakers to try and take home by foot as I found out. I was so worn out by the time I got home I had to recover for a few hours before being able to set them up.
Build quality is excellent. They feel solid and robust...

My first 'real' loudspeakers
Review of B & W DM 602/S3 by
FrankNL
Advantages: Fantastic sound, placement of voices and instruments
Disadvantages: Hard to place, hard to get bass right
...602/S3, which just had that bit more base compared to their smaller brothers, and were still in my budget (I paid £300 for the pair). These speakers have a 25 mm metal dome tweeter and a 180mm kevlar mid/bass driver, and are rated at 25-120 Watts. For more technical specifications, see the link below. I also bought a Pioneer DVD/SACD player and complemented the system with an older Pioneer amp that I still had, with the intention to upgrade as soon as my financial situation had recovered...
The B&W speakers were supplied in a large box, well protected, with manuals and two foam plugs (see later). I chose the light wood variety, but black is also an option. Both were on stock at my local Hifi dealer (Leicester Hifi Co, can recommend them highly!) as was the DVD player.
Setting up the system was straightforward as my supplier had made...

Orgasminc Sound...
Review of B&W DM601 S2 by
2000andone
Advantages: Brilliant output and nice bass
Disadvantages: Cant quite go loud enough for me ;-)
...good quality sound.
They are the lowestest in there series, the DM600's series 2. With the DM602 just above at an extra £100.00 on top, delivers just that extra kick that makes it louder and slightley clearer(which is only just possible.) Then there is the floorstanding range, the 603,604 and 605 which just get louder and bigger.
But i think that it is a better buy, because it is cheap so it is more cost effective unless you need it very loud. Although the 601 can beat most speakers.
They are encased in an oak wood black design or teak. With a plastic grill, that is covered in a high quality material cover with a metal logo at the top, B&W. Making the finish very posh and adding class to your System.
After having them a year now, and still not having a single problem i can also say they are very robust and higly reliable.
Its...

Toshiba 28W33B
Review of Toshiba 28W33B by
christina1012
Advantages: Range of viewing screen sizes, Fantastic picture quality, price
Disadvantages: none
...I have just bought the Toshiba 28W33B 28in widescreen television and am so amazed at how brillant it is, We didn't pay a fortune for it either, (£279) which makes the very high standard of it even harder to believe.
The manual is quite easy to understand bit to much explanation on some things but overall was easy for me to understand
Fantastic picture quality one of the best i have seen in a while, shows programs and films in perfect quality,
When first switched on you may have to adjust the brightness and colour settings to your own comfortable viewing standard.
Menu selections (colour, screen adjustments etc) that come up on the television screen using the remote are easy to understand. Just remember to click on store after altering things!
Menu screen consists of picture, sound and feature,
Feature includes sleep...

Logitech's S2 50, a logical choice
Review of Logitech S2 50 by
Credance100
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful. Compact and attractive design.
Disadvantages: Average quality sound. Will not do a high range soundcard justice.
...As a general rule my with hardware components, they are only replaced when their precedesscors finally give up the ghost. A while back one ofmy ancient (circa 2000) biege speakers stopped working, the other soon followed suit.
Being absolutely broke at the time, I waited speakerless for awhile before receiving these Logitech S2 50 speakers as a gift. Having had a Logitech branded product prematurely break on me before I wasn't too confident these speakers would last long.
I wasn't told of the price at the time but I would put a conservative estimate at them costing around 8 pounds, going solely by a price quote here on Ciao.
Upon receiving the S2 50 I was struck by the extremely convenient design, my old speakers were a heck of a lot larger and cylindrical in shape, in the past they've just been situated either side of my monitor...

Good looking, great sounding
Review of B&W CC6 S2 by
BruceH
Advantages: Great response
Disadvantages: none
...This speaker is great. I have it at the centre of a room full of 601 S2 speakers.
The sound is very well balanced, particularly for vocals as you would expect from a centre speaker.
It sounds great for DVDs and also for music.
In a home cinema setup it benefits from the addition of a subwoofer as the bass response doesn't get down to that range.
Features
--------
Technology from £35000 Nautilus speakers.
Great looking yellow and black finish when covers off.
Twin cable terminals to allow bi-wiring or bi-amping. (bridging plates supplied for single wiring)
NB: Don't let your speakers down with poor cabling!!...

Approx Price: £249.45
Though not many functions the HM602 is quite a feast.
***MY OPINION. [4/5]***
For the great looks & sound that too at such a low price tag, the HM602 certainly deserves at least 4 roses if not 5. If you are out to buy her then don’t you wait!
But if you want more features then you surely will find a better System for some bucks more. But if you want Kenwood & love fusion styling then the Kenwood HM602 is just the right audio solution for you at this price...

Canon S2 Is, 5.0 million pixels Digital camera
Review of Canon PowerShot S2 IS by
blackbeard
Advantages: Easy to use. will take great looking pics for you, whatever your ability
Disadvantages: Bit pricey ,but value for money. smaller controls than standard SLR
...Before I bang on about the Canon S2 Is Digital camera, it is important to explain that while I believe it is an excellent camera, it is what it is within a specific price range, and is excellent because of its versatility to be as easy to use, or as creative and as flexible as you would want it to be.
Therefore this camera could appeal to both amateurs who want a good Auto everything, all round point and shoot camera, and likewise this camera has the option to be set manually, allowing the enthusiast to be more creative with their photography.
Before continuing any further, please let me say whilst I feel I have a good knowledge of photography skills, I do not intend to list the multitude of functions this fantastic camera is armed with. I feel this information can be easily found and explained more in depth technically...

12 Months with a Powershot S2 IS
Review of Canon PowerShot S2 IS by
nick000
Advantages: Fantastic 12X optical zoom, image stabilization. SLR style body.
Disadvantages: Bulky to carry. Manual focus not easiest to use
...I have had my S2 IS for over 12 months now and have been very happy with it.
It is comfortable to use, especially if you have a preference for an SLR style grip, otherwise it is probably a bit on the bulky side.
Definately not a happy snapper, in your pocket camera!.
The zoom is fantastic and the S2 image stabilization, to help with shakey hands is one of the best I have come across for the money.
Automatic modes are aplenty, although I have found "Auto" will surfice for most situations, including indoors. The video mode is also useful, and although I have not shot video much on previous cameras I have on the S2 and been very pleased with it, especially in conjunction with the massive 12X zoom. Canon have included their rotating screen which enables you to view your shot at any angle or turn it face in and use a more...

WG602 54 Mbps Wireless Access Point
Review of Netgear WG602 54 Mbps Wireless Access Point by
ilaskey
Advantages: Good features, repeater and bridging modes
Disadvantages: Minor installation problem
...a likely candidate. The price is right and from V2 onwards, this particular access point includes a repeater mode.
In a nutshell, repeater mode receives and transmits simultaneously. It picks up the existing signal and retransmits it again. The idea is you put one at the point where the signal is starting to drop off so it can then send out a nice fresh signal at full strength, thus extending the range.
What's in the box
As well as the Netgear WG602 V2 itself, you get a driver CD, a short network cable and an external PSU. Installation can be done manually in which case you just plug it in to your wired network and point your web browser to the device's IP address and use the web based configuration tools. Alternatively, the CD based setup can be used for a more hand held approach. One minor glitch was that the documentation quoted...
