Winnie The Pooh sleeping bag 0-6 months
Review of Mothercare 2.5 tog Sleeping Bags by
Bandi2709
Advantages: snug and comfortable for baby
Disadvantages: can be expensive to buy
...Who hasn't been woken up in the middle of the night by a cold, screaming baby who has kicked his covers off, only to cover him again and, 20 minutes later, "wahhh"!!! Thank heavens for sleeping bags.
I purchased my first sleeping bag for my daughter when she was just 6 weeks of age. She hadn't been sleeping particularly well and everytime I checked on her, I found the blankets kicked off and her cold! I had read about sleeping bags in the Mothercare catalogue I had at home and so it was there that I made my purchase.
The idea of a sleeping bag is to replace the need for top sheets and blankets. You will still need the base sheet which covers the mattress. They are ideal for babies who are quite "active" in their sleep and who kick off their covers. They help to keep baby at the right temperature, help to make it much harder...

Dreaming of sleep
Review of Dreampod Sleeping Bag by
mussonanna
Advantages: Safe, comfortable sleeping environment for baby
Disadvantages: takes training as arms are free
...I have spent the last month or so in a permanent state of panic and worry over my little boys sleeping arrangements.
Whilst pregant I read all about various ways of ensuring a contented happy baby and found out about baby sleeping bags and swaddling.
For those of you who are not familiar with swaddling, it is basically wrapping your baby up in a sheet or blanket to form a cacoon. The idea being that your baby feels safe and secure, after all it has been used to being in a confined space for some time.
In hospital, the midwives also encouraged the practice of swaddling and so my little boy was wrapped up and to be honest slept fairly well.
The thing is, when babies are first born their hands and arms flap about a fair bit and they can't control them, it was this action which prevented my boy from going to sleep and so swaddling...

sweet dreams with slumbersac
Review of SlumberSac Sleeping Bags by
EmBe
Advantages: great nights sleep for baby, stops them pulling covers over face
Disadvantages: none
...My baby has just turned four months old and over the last few weeks has become very mobile in her cot, meaning she has been wriggling out of her covers and going on little adventures up and down her cot!! As a result she has been waking up in the night - just as we had start to get her sleeping through.
I had been told about baby sleeping bags by a number of people and so decided to give one a go.
I decided on a Slumbersac - a blue and dark beige sleeping bag with little giraffes on the front with blue feet.
So what is a slumbersac?
Basically, it is a sleeping bag available in different togs (weights) ranging from a 0.5 - for use in very hot rooms or during the summer right up to 2.5 which is for cooler rooms and use in the winter. The sleeping bag has a zip all the way around as well as poppers on each shoulder so that baby does...

An ingenious invention
Review of Grobag Sleeping Bag by
SamanthaPerry
Advantages: Baby cant get tangled up in it, or crawl down under it.
Disadvantages: None
...I purchased a 1.0 tog Grobag little bear sleeping bag from Argos for the price of £22.99. I purchased it before we knew we were having a little boy so bought a neutral, cream one, it has a little bear embroidered on the front at the top.
These baby sleeping bags are an ingenious invention, as the baby cannot get into it or get tangled up in it as they can with blankets or sheets. My number 1 fear was that my son would wriggle down under blankets and not be able to get back out, so this sleeping bag ensures that I get a good nights sleep without worrying about him!!
The sleeping bag is 75cm long, so there is plenty of room for your little one to kick their legs around without feeling restricted. It has 2 press stud fasteners on each shoulder, you simply lay your baby in the bag and fasten these at the top of each shoulder. There is also...

Oh So Snug.
Review of Grobag Sleeping Bag by
kimp123
Advantages: Keeps my baby asleep safely.
Disadvantages: None.
...to move into his cot-bed, I was in for a shock, because he had been sleeping 'like a baby' all night long, well, he suddenly started waking every night again. But why?
It seemed to me that he was kicking off his covers and therefore waking up cold. So, after some research I invested in a Sleeping Bag and my baby has slept every night since (aren't I lucky!)
*****What Is A Sleeping Bag?
The kind of sleeping bag which I am going to describe, is not the one that you take away camping with you.
This is designed for a baby to 'wear' in bed, as a replacement to normal blankets. It is made from wadded material and is available in different togs for various levels of warmth.
The baby 'wears' the sleeping bag, it is like a pinafore, apart from the fact that the bottom and side section can be closed by the way of poppers or a zip.
While the baby has...

A full night's sleep restored
Review of Grobag Sleeping Bag by
Fiona2403
Advantages: Baby doen't wake up in night cold, a full night sleep for all
Disadvantages: none?
...Although “Grobag” is more a word to consider with growing tomatoes than with a cute baby the Grobag is certainly a fantastic invention.
A Grobag is a sleeping bag type thing for babies in place of their sheets and blankets. The sleeping bag is shaped, wider at the bottom and narrower at the top. The top has an opening on each side for arms to go through and an opening for babies’ head with poppers that come over the top of the bag to create what I suppose looks like the baby is wearing a sleeveless t-shirt with a bag attached! This, I imagine makes the sleeping bag safe for little babies from slipping down into the bag and suffocating and also means baby can’t wriggle out of the bag. The bag zips up round the side.
I found this Grobag excellent after my baby started wriggling from under the blankets when he was moved from the moses...

Sleep tight
Review of SlumberSac Sleeping Bags by
zomak24u
Advantages: Helps baby sleep better
Disadvantages: It's like being in a bean bag, when a toddler wakes up it's tricky standing up
...My son hadn't slept throughout the night since we brought him home from the hospital, and that was more than a year ago. I have tried several sleep techniques- establishing a bed time routine by having a bath at night with bedtime wash and applying bedtime lotion, reading a book, winding down e.t.c but he would wake up at least twice during the night. He would often wake up because the room was too cold and he had kicked off the covers. I read a comment from a mother who wrote that sleeping bags could make a baby sleep better. Though I had read about them and seen a few in stores, I wasn't personally familiar with sleeping bags, no I knew had used them as a child nor used them on their children, so it was a novel concept to me. Despite that, I decided to give it a try.
The bag is designed to use a baby's body heat to keep him/her warm...

Doesn't need to be a "Grobag" to be good
Review of Grobag Sleeping Bag by
katherine78
Advantages: Keeps baby warm and snug
Disadvantages: Can get cheaper brands
...I started to use baby sleeping bags as soon as my son was born. I had read so much about cot death and babies wriggling under the blankets. It seemed an obvious choice to try them out.
I started with a newborn bag from Vertbaudet, thiswas great. It had a lovely cute dragon pattern and it kept my little one snug and cosy upto about 3 months of age.
After that I changed to 0-6 month bag that I purchased at a great price in TK Max. This lasted him untill he was about 7 months and then I moved to the next one a make called Candida, also purchased in TK Max.
"Gro Bag" is the original maker of baby sleeping bags but I have found these tend to be more expensive and you can often get much nicer designs from other makers and they are just as good. Gro Bag does provide a free room thermometer to help you check the room is the correct temperature...

Cosy, safe and just fantastic
Review of Grobag Sleeping Bag by
Alexmouse
Advantages: Toddler proof zip, comes with free thermometer and clothing guide
Disadvantages: None
...I decided to opt for a baby sleeping bag after night after night of going back and forth into my son’s bedroom to tuck him back into his covers every five minutes! I investigated all my local baby shops but found the ‘Grobag’ Mail Order Sleeping bags to be the best deal.
I bought a 2.0 tog Quilted Grobag (FSID recommend this as the maximum tog rating for a sleeping bag) which was £24.50. If you order 2 Grobags then you automatically get a £5 discount. Although I had to pay £3 delivery charge it was still cheaper than buying 2 from any of my local baby shops. The reason I bought 2 is because my son has always been quite a sicky baby (although getting much better now) and occasionally has the odd leakage in his nappy at night so with 2 you have always got a spare handy to enable you to get the other washed and dried...

MY LIFE SAVINGS FOR A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP!
Review of Grobag Sleeping Bag by
inycon2
Advantages: Security, comfort and aid to a bed time routine
Disadvantages: Not necessarily the way to a good nights sleep
...When a newborn baby arrives in your home you will try anything to get a good nights sleep. I would have quite happily handed over my life savings (£100!), four weeks after my daughter's birth to anyone willing to take over those bone numbingly exhausting night after night, night duties.
At some point during those early weeks or possibly before you will probably have found your way onto the mailing list of the Grobag baby sleeping bag company, now called Bumps to 3.
A bright little catalogue will fall through your door which when opened will promise you the earth if you put your baby in one of their specially designed Grobag Sleeping Bags.
Being desperate, I ordered one and with it being the hottest summer on record last year I didn't get to use it properly until my baby was around 12 weeks old.
It cost £29.95, manufactured from...
