...The 'Sakura' is a new bath ballistic recently launched by Lush (the handmade cosmetics company). In case you don't know, a bath ballisitic (or bath bomb) is a combination of sodium bicarbonate, citric acid and a variety of different essential oils and colourings, all condensed into a ball. When dropped into a bath the bomb merrily fizes away dissolving lovely essential oils into the bath for you to wallow in. The Sakura ballistic (Sakura is the Japanese word for Cherry Blossom by the way) is a particularly attractive version of a bath ballistic. Its a very very pale pink colour dappled with speckles of pale green, with a bright pink and green layer of exfoliating sea salt sitting at the top of the ballistic. ...The backbone of Lush's product range, ballistics are a source of bemusement to all Lush virgins when they first go into the shops. They are one of the main reasons the shop can be smelled way down the street and are the ultimate products for anyone wishing to cut down on the packaging of they products they buy. At their simplest, ballistics are simply balls of bicarbonate of soda and citric acid, which fizz away to soften bath water. Lush adds perfumes, colours and 'extras' (see below), to make a ballistic bath a decidedly 'different' experience. As well as the colours and perfumes, a lot of the ballistics in the range are also packed with flowers, glitter or even bits of fruit(!), so if you don't want to be covered in glitter for days (Fairy Jasmine is rumoured to have precisely that effect), it's a good idea to thoroughly read... ...Lush Bath Ballistic Sex Bomb I have always enjoyed soaking in the bath with a good book and candles flicking away. Nothing eases the stress and strains of daily live so well and prior to buying any Lush products I have to make do with bath salts, various gels and a strange powder. All this changed when I received a gift set that contained the Lush Bath Ballistic Sex Bomb. As part of a gift package the prices of all of the Lush products are slightly inflated but normally the 200g Bath Ballistic costs £2.50. Each Bath Ballistic can be broken in half so one bomb can be used twice so many people see them as expensive. I don't and I will shortly tell you why. The Bath Ballistic is quite heavy and it resembles in size a cricket ball, coloured in lovely shades of pink so it looks lovely just sitting on the shelf and it gives off a lovely... Read review

...I am still trying out many of the lush bath products after only discovering them at the end of last year. On browsing the Lush website I was attracted to this big pink ballistic. Called absolute delight. With a name like that it has a lot to live up to. This is one of the larger bath ballistics and is about the same size as a tennis ball. This cost £2.20. I brought this from the lush website and it comes packaged in a little clear plastic bag. There is a label on the bag which will give you a list of all the ingredients used to make up this bath ballistic. As with all the products made by Lush, only natural ingredients have been used to make up this bath ballistic. As soon as the bath bomb hits the water it starts to dissolve immediately. ...Lush Summer Blues Bath Ballistic I think everyone likes to receive presents and I especially like to receive surprise presents, so yesterday when my friend came to visit with a little carrier bag full of Lush bath ballistics I was delighted. There were four bath ballistics in the bag as they had been shopping in the merry hill shopping centre in the midlands and thought of me and one of the ballistics was a summer blues bath ballistic. Each ballistic came in it's own little bag and the summer blues one was a lovely shade of light blue, a good size nearly about the same size as a tennis ball, when I turned it over in the bag I could see dark blue flowers embedded in the ballistic. ...After reading several ops about Lush I decided i needed a treat and because my nearest store is in Cambridge (hour and a half drive away) I decided to order online. This was very easy and about a week later my box of goodies arrived, one of which was the Fairy Jasmine bath ballistic. Users of Lush's products will know what a bath ballistic is but for those of you who have not had the pleasure they are about the size of a cricket ball, with various smells and additions, such as petals or flower heads, and when they are put in a pre-run bath they fizz around like a giant alka seltzer. The Fairy Jasmine variety of the bath ballistic (there are 16 other varieties) is, not surprisingly, scented with jasmine but also contains ylang ylang and vetiver. ...Drawn into the Lush shop on Regent Street, having found it by means of smell alone, I raced straight downstairs to the Bath Ballistics. These are luxurious baths in powder form, compressed to the size of a tennis ball (in some cases a little smaller and in the case of Tisty Tosty, a petal strewn heart). Drop a bath ballistic into a pre-run bath and stand back. They produce an explosion of bubbles like a giant Alka Seltzer, and the best bath I have ever had. The Big Blue is my favourite so far: a mixture of sea-salt and sea weed, and deep turquoise blue, this makes your bath like floating in a mediterranean sea. With Big Blue the colour of the water enhances the whole relaxing experience, and it is easy to project yourself back on a sun-soaked holiday. The one disadvantage with bath ballistics is the price, Big Blue cost me £1... Read review

With the festive season shortly to be upon us Lush have brought out some new limited edition bath ballistics products, not being one to be able to resist anything purple I was instantly attracted to the purple coloured orb which has been given the appropriate festive name Jingle Spells. Jingle Spells was last year's Christmas Ballistic best seller and because of that Lush decided to reintroduce it again this year. For those of you who don't know, Lush Bath Ballistics are brightly coloured orbs which are fragranced with essential oils. Each Bath Ballistic contains specific ingredients which are used to treat specific conditions, for example the Lush Jingle Spells Bath Ballistic contains the following oils Juniperberry Oil, Tangerine Oil, Fennel Oil and Ylang Ylang Oil, when these ingredients... ...I think I'd better hurry up and write my Eulogy as I may need it very soon - as I am about to criticise a Lush product as I found it really disappointing. For those of you who don't know, Lush is very highly respected by many female Ciao members and they won't hear a bad word against the Company - having said that I am normally included within that group but on this occasion it has to be said that disappointing is the only honest word I could use to describe this product. The product I am referring to is the new festive limited edition Fairy Jasmine With Wings Bath Ballistic. Lush have brought out a range of limited edition bath ballistics, (bath bombs), and I am slowly working my way through them - so far so good and I have not been disappointed at all. ...I worked in a Lush store for quite a while. I fell in love with the gorgeous smelling products, which filled the air (and all our lungs) like a pleasant drug. My favourite, of all the products, were the bath ballistics that were stacked high in a paint pallette of colours. Each contains a different essential oil - working wonders ona variety of problems - skin irratation, stress, tiredness, anger.... Or, they are just a wonderful treat - for any time of the day, night or afternoon. Just plonk one in the bath and have a whale of time!! So, how do they work? The balls are packed full of bicarbonate of soda. Once put in the bath, the soda reacts with the water and starts to fizz away. In the dissolving, all the wonderful oils are released into the water. If you look closely, you can see the oils rising off the ballistic into the air... Read review
