Reviews of bats

A rarity but a gem
Review of Ihsan King by gaddy6

Advantages: pick-up, power, distance hitting.
Disadvantages: Rare, premiums in UK very high

...This bat has got to be one of the best bats I have ever played with! Of course every bat one buys is different and I would never recommend a bat of any type to another player, as one bat does not suit all, but the bat ihsan sent me all those years ago when this bat was available was outrageously good. Ihsan bats are made in the sub continent, where a great deal of international players bats are made, so you can be assured that whilst the quality may not be as high as handmade english bats, the price will more than make up for it. So if you could possibly pick one of these up from india or pakistan then the price you pay would be greatly reduced than if you bought it from an english shop who will whack a high premium on these bats. This bat is the stereotypical sub continent bat with a low middle and a large bowed blade that accentuates... Read review

kookaburra produces a little beast
Review of kookabura little beast cricket bat by pjloudon

Advantages: great look, powerful bat
Disadvantages: low grade of williow

...today i will be reviewing the kookaburra little beast cricket bat looks when you look at this bat you could compare it to any bat on the market and it would beat them all it is really a stunning design power the middle on this bat is slightly lower then one of the adverage bat but in some ways that can help because it allows the ball to be hit ain the air a lot easier profile the profile of the bat is bowed meaning it has a slight curve in it , a bat being bowed means that it generates better power , but with generating better power it reduces the bat speed. the price in my eyes this bat is way under priced it retails at around £30-£40 the durability factor the durability factor is a big one because oviously if the bat is cheap then it is not going to be made from the highest graade of willow. however if the bat... Batty
Review of Bats (Wide Screen) by dabmim

Advantages: something to watch
Disadvantages: nothing exciting

...When nothing was on TV during the Christmas holidays, we decided to rent a video, we chose 'Bats'. A certificate 15, it was with the best rented ones. The video started and to be honest it wasn't too long before you see a piece of action with the 'bats'. There is the usual nutty person who created the 'mad' bats. These bats are big and nasty, and kill. It isn't long before disaster strike the smalle town where the bats have roosted! We need th ehelp of a delightfully looking bat wonder person. Herself scared by bats as a youngster, she is now the lead in the field of bats studies (wow how exciting). The film is exactly what you'd expect, and nothing more. If you are a fan of horror type movies, then this is a typical run of the mill. Nothing spectacular.... Read review

Not a rocky bat
Review of Ihsan Rocky by chaos_321

Advantages: super middle,powerful
Disadvantages: too heavy for some

...I've had this cricket bat for over four years now and it's surved me well over the seasons. I can proudly say that it has no cracks and it's still in good condition, due to the fact that i have oiled it over the cricketing seasons to make it more durable. The Ihsan Rocky bat is a powerful bat and is also heavy, close to 3lbs, the side of the bat is very thick, which makes it very powerful. Due to these qualities of the bat the Rocky is hard to control, which is why i put another grip on the bat to try and strike a balance between handle and bat. Compared to other bats that i have used like the Hunts county Insignia and the Ihsan hi-lux this bat is much heavier than them, but im sure you can get the Ihsan Rocky a bit lighter in some shops, the one i've got is a heavy one. The Ihsan Rocky is the most powerful bat i have ever used... Read review

Slazenger V500 Select Cricket Bat
Review of Slazenger Select by Barthezz

Advantages: Brilliant middle, nice design
Disadvantages: None as yet

...After finishing my first season at my local cricket club with no cricket bat of my own, I decided it was about time to buy my own. After lots of recommendations about different bats I decided to go to the sports store and find out more. Thats when I stumbled upon an end of season price for the Slazenger V500 Select of £30. Usually this particular bat is £70. I plumped for the Short handle (mainly because it was the only one left in the shop!!). I wasn't disappointed. The bat didn't need 'knocking in' due to the protective cover over the front so I was straight in the Winter Nets with it. After a few overs getting used to the bat, I found the middle quite easily. The middle of this bat is not for the faint hearted!! A nice cover drive saw the ball hurtling THROUGH the bottom of the net and towards the far corner of the room. Next... Read review

Puma Ballistic 4000
Review of Puma Ballistic 4000 by martin0201

Advantages: High quality cricket bat
Disadvantages: Little pricey

... Puma Ballistic 4000 The Product This is a cricket bat, made by the Australian based manufacturer Puma. Puma make all sorts of sports equipment, but have only recently moved into the manufacture of cricket bats. They have, however, exploded onto the scene and are now amongst the most popular manufacturers. This particular bat is a Puma Ballistic 4000. All the Puma bats come in a series of grades, 5000, 4000 and 3000. Therefore, the 4000 is a middle range bat, but as the quality of all the Puma bats is so high, this is like a high grade bat from any other producer. The Ballistic is characteristic for its thick edges and enhanced sweet spot, making it a bat for players of power rather than precision. The 4000 model is made from Grade 1 English willow, the highest you can get. The only thing that differs from the 4000... Read review

Grays and nicholls millenium
Review of Gray Nicolls Millennium by kevdave

Advantages: Very light, good pick up and general good quality
Disadvantages: some players think it is to light.

...This bat is an absoloutely brilliant, lightweight well manafactured quality piece of willow. The pick up is good but it does depend of what grade bat you have. The bat is available in different grade stars I have the 5 star which is one of the top bats in the Millenium range, it has a nice sweetspot also and I seem to be able to strike the ball to the boundary fence with that big ping of the bat ohh what a lovely sound that is when the ball hits the middle I'm hearing it now. I have left the best piece of bat quality to last because it is simply the best part it of course is the amazing lightness of the bat considering that it has all the power that you could ask for in a bat you would of thought it may be a little on the heavy side but no it's just the right weight because there is some weight you can feel so that you can guide... beast of a bat
Review of kookabura little beast cricket bat by danrugby2005

Advantages: a really nice middle
Disadvantages: Kashmir Willow

...LOOKS This Bat in my view is one of the best looking bats around and has not got to much pictures on the bat like the Kookaburra angry beast. I think the blue and red go very well together and really look good. Even the grip fits in with the style having blue slashes on it done by "the beast". The beast itself is not overdone but it still noticeable from a distance. I think the fact that the wood is unbleached giving it a more white effect looks better for it's style than a darker wood. I love the looks because you can really show the bat off and not worry about being seen bating with it. POWER The middle on this bat is awesome you can hit a cricket ball miles and you really know when you have caught it right. As for the bat itself it is very forgiving of bad shots and has a lot of power. The bat has great power considering it is only... Read review

The Beast: Excellent choice.
Review of kookabura little beast cricket bat by sam1060

Advantages: Long lasting, light, kookaburra, kashmir willow
Disadvantages: hasnt got a big middle.

...The Bat The Bat is a very good Bat. The middle is'nt very big, although when you hit it, boy, its beautiful. Its so natural and i would probably say when you hit the middle it is delicious. the bat is made of high quality kashmir willow, and because it is kookaburra you can bet that it was very well made. All bats are pre-knocked in, but kookaburra do recommend at least 1 hour of knocking in. Feel The bat feels very good. Its light and very manuverable. Its very good if you like light bats, like myself. the only bad thing i could say about the feel, is that as soon as you dont hit the middle, you get that horrible feeling in your hands, which is not unusual, but it happend alot more with my kookaburra, compared to my new woodworm. Lastability this bat lasted me the best part of 2 full seasons, indoors and out and also in the nets. i... Read review

Insignia bats not just the body spray
Review of County Insignia ES by pumfster

Advantages: Good weight with a meaty middle
Disadvantages: None really, except I always find the edge :)

...County cricket bats are manufactured by a company called Hunts. They have been in production since 1940, owned by the famous Trimmings family, who are well known bat makers from the St. Neots region. Later they moved the factory to Huntingdon, and they are still produced there today. The actual bat itself can be bought either in the regular size or as a long handle bat like the one I have. It has an attractive and also very comfortable blue coloured grip around the handle. The grip is held onto the blade with tape, which despite not looking the best, has proved to be very durable. The blade itself is lovely and smooth, with the Hunts County Bats logo, a stag motife and also the Insignia E.S. logo. The reverse of the blade is adorned with various designs, mainly in green and red with the logo also putting in another appearance... Read review
