Athena so called beach
Review of Athena Beach Hotel, Paphos by  ILIKEMONEY

Advantages: Great pools, near to reteraunts and cafes
Disadvantages: the beach and the lunch canteen

...'t that rough. The sand was very smooth, but that’s because it was man made. There was plenty of shade in the form of umbrellas and in the summer time, I think, the little bars open up around the beach. All in all a pretty disappointing beach for a hotel with the word beach in its name. Would have expected better, bigger and longer. But it wasn't very busy so it has its up points too. Nice to feel the sand between your toes. -The spa- My mum went to check out the spa one day when the rest of us went diving. We had been to a spa hotel last year so my mum had high expectations, in the end she didn’t get a treatment. Unlike other spa’s it wasn’t just a go into relax, you had to get a special treatment, like a massage or pedicure etc. Also the prices were a little on the steep side for her liking so she decided to go back to the room to chill... Ipsos Beach & Life in General
Review of Ipsos Beach, Corfu by  ice_pink

Advantages: Friendly, close to everything, clear waters
Disadvantages: Shingle beach

...Now as I mentioned in another review, I've been visiting Corfu since 2004, three times in Ipsos and once in Kavos, and I must say I definetly prefer Ipsos, it's still lively-ish but definetly more chilled out and calmer, with less madness going on! I'm going to write this review about Ipsos beach and its surrounding area, all the things within a 10 minute walk... * THE BEACH * Now since the review is the beach it's probably a good thing to start with the beach itself!! Ipsos has a long shingle beach, but don't let that put you off too much, surely it's all the better as your don't get sandy feet or sand in your clothes after a long session of hopping from water to shore. There are sunbeds out and avaliable to hire daily on the Ipsos beach and are ok priced - six euros per bed, and you usually get an umbrella in the middle... Read review

Sun, sea, sand oh & the sex on the beach
Review of Gran Ventana Beach Resort, Puerto Plata by  gemax2

Advantages: Very clean, excellent service & lovely weather
Disadvantages: Attracts a lot of kids, not excellent evening entertainment

...busy. I could think of better places to hold your wedding. *People who don't like sun bathing and chilling out, as all you do all day is sun bathe, eat and drink. There are trees to shade under and straw umbrellas around the pool and on the beach but on the whole it is quite difficult to shade yourself.... Read review

On The Beach
Review of On The Beach [Remastered] - Neil Young by  darkangelwing

Advantages: Sensual guitar solos's ; Good lyrical craftsmanship ; A good folk rock offering
Disadvantages: Some may find certain songs depressing ; Not as good as Young's pervious three iconic albums ; Not much in the way of linear notes

...TO RAIN - 5:02 This sensual lullaby couldn't be more of a contrast to the driving opening ballad. Electric piano played by the legend Graham Nash ad's such a mellow mood and subtle drive to the song. The song signifies the journey of mellowness and calm surrounding most of the album's material, the song closes off so aptly with Young's lovely harmonica. An album well and truly deserved of a listen when alone at the beach.....er but take an umbrella. 'See the sky about to rain, broken clouds and rain. Locomotive, pull the train, whistle blowing through my brain. Signals curling on an open plain, rolling down the track again. See the sky about to rain.' 3. REVOLUTION BLUES - 4:03 One of the real great offering's of the album. Revolution blues has a constant driving set of chords combined with distant guitar solos. Young... Read review

Sandy and clean Pefkos beach.
Review of Pefkos Beach, Lindos, Rhodes by  jasonking12

Advantages: Clean goldan sandy beach and clear shallow water.
Disadvantages: gets very crowded

...The island of Rhodes does lack one thing, and that is really nice sandy beaches. Most of them, including nearby Lardos and even the beaches of Faliaraki are a little stony and containe a good deal of shingle. Pefkos beach however is one of the best on the island for clean golden sand and clear shallow water that is ideal for families. For about 8 Euros you can hire two sunbeds and umbrella for the whole day. The sunbeds do really dominate the beach which is only about 400 metres long and no more than 20 metres deep, so there is very little room for you to just arrive with your towel under your arm and lay where you want. If you are content to lie relaxing in the sun and go for a really refreshing swim in calm shallow waters then this is the beach for you. If however you are into beach volley ball, frisbee, a game of footy or want... Read review

Coral Beach Hotel
Review of Coral Beach Hotel and Resort, Paphos by  hert1137

Advantages: Grea hotel, beautiful pools, highly recommend
Disadvantages: probably packed during peak season?

...falling into the side of the water. The pool area is very clean, it was also not busy, despite having loads of sun beds and umbrellas, both fixed and ones which can be moved (probably due to being off season). Coming out of the hotel you step on to a shaded veranda running all the way round with steps down to the pool side. On the veranda is a bar area and tables. The sea is lapping on the beach no more than 50 yards from the hotel door, with a torch lit path leading down to the beach in the evening. The sea-water is quite cold in the autumn and I didn't get far into the water, however it is in a secluded bay, fully protected from boat traffic, with a marina (including power boat hire) and pier jutted out to the right of the swimming area. There are other beaches nearby, with another beach with volleyball, children's games, pedallo hire only... Read review

Venus Beach - we renamed it Anus Beach
Review of Venus Beach Hotel, Paphos by  baeswoman

Advantages: Stunning Location Friendly staff
Disadvantages: Shabby, tired rooms. Overworked staff

...The Venus Beach Hotel is widely advertised as 5* but don't be fooled it offers poor 3* accomodation. This is a great shame as it is located in a wonderful setting right next to the historical site of the Tombs of the Kings just outside Paphos. with grounds leading down to a small beach area. FIRST IMPRESSIONS I stayed there in August this year and to say I was disappointed is a gross understatement. The first thing I noticed upon arrival was the slightly neglected look to the grounds, unmown lawns and untrimmed bushes. We were greeted in reception by friendly attentive staff and our cases were taken to our room for us as would be expected in a 5* hotel. Our room was on the 4th floor and on entering it our faces must have mirrored our dissapointment. To say the room had a tired appearance... Read review

Luca/ Cyprotel Laura Beach Paphos - Cyprus
Review of Laura Beach Hotel - Paphos (Cyprus) by  jomarannetyn

Advantages: Toasties are great
Disadvantages: Where do i start??

...with the same complaint so we didn't expect much. After explaining the situation she went to reception to be told no rooms available she said the only thing she could do was get the cleaner to do a thorough clean (had this not already been done?) which they did or sprayed something and on returning to our room later in the day it did smell somewhat better although not perfect. Pool ------ There were 2 large swimming pools on 2 separate levels, they were clean and the depths marked accordingly they ranged from about 1m to 1.7m. The sun beds around the pool had individual umbrellas for shade and no matter what time we went down there were several available so no rushing to save a sun bed at 6am! Beach towels were available from the fitness centre but required a £5(Cyprus) deposit which you got back on return of the towel Bars... Read review

You'll need an umbrella for the bloody rain.
Review of Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (Wii) by  BTlover

Advantages: Long game, pretty sweet light-gun mechanics.
Disadvantages: The bizarre inclusion of movie info, but the reducing of characters. O_O

...ust like the zombies in the games themselves, Capcom has resurrected its gun survivor franchise and has unleashed Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles on unsuspecting Wii owners. The last gun survivor game here in the US came out in 2003 (RE: Dead Aim) and was actually a pretty decent offing. Umbrella Chronicles turns Resident Evil 0, REmake (the Gamecube version of Resident Evil 1), and RE3 into light gun games, and throws in an all-new location to boot. This is one nostalgic trip down blood soaked memory lane for Resident Evil fans. But people just looking for a good time will find it here as well. RE: UC takes players on a nostalgic filled trip through RE0, the Remake, and RE3 in light gun shooting form, and it's all narrated by captain bad-ass himself, Albert Wesker! Relive the train of death with Billy and Rebecca; walk... Read review

Louis Phaethon Beach
Review of Louis Phaethon Beach Hotel, Paphos by  deborah2709

Advantages: Good for families
Disadvantages: A little too far from resort centre

.... There are a couple of shops on-site- jewellery, gift and newsagents. Can't tell you about Chariots night club, we tended to amuse ourselves as it was somewhat dark and dismal in there. The entertainment during the day was very good for the youngsters and kept our 12 year old entertained most of the time so much so we could hardly get him out of the hotel! (darts, football ,volleyball,water-polo) Archery has an age limit, think its 16. The pool is lovely, massive but it had to be closed twice while we were there because of little one's having accidents, so it had to be cleaned. The Beach. Well there isn't one really, a bit of sand and shingle but no good for bathing. There was watersports at the beach including canoeing and pedalo's. there was jet-skiing but there is a charge for motorised water-sports. There were ample sun-beds and umbrella... Read review
