Brilliant beasts
Review of The Beast House - Richard Laymon by Pamela

Advantages: There are 3 books
Disadvantages: Not long enough

...The Beast House is a fantastic sequal to The Cellar and a brilliant prequal to the Midnight Tour. I had not realised that there was a trilogy to the "Beast story" and I did not read them in order. I thought each was a compelling read in it's own right. Not wanting to give away too much of the story, The Cellar follows the story of a Beast which seems to inhabit Malcassa Point. There are twists and turns in the plot which kept me reading long into the night - probably not the best time to read a horror! The Beast kills in the Beast House, an old house where the beast first killed which has been turned into a tourist attraction. For all Laymon fans it is definately a must. After I had finished The Cellar I had to run out and buy the other two books in the trilogy. Definately not one to ponder over in the book shop.... Read review

The 3rd Beast House Book
Review of The Midnight Tour - Richard Laymon by Claire102

Advantages: Excellent
Disadvantages:

...The story in this book follows a group of tourists visiting 'The Beast House', a 'legendary site of ghastly murder' and some of the staff who work there. It also tells the story of what happened to a girl 17 years previously and near the end of the book the stories cleverly match up. This is the 3rd book in the Beast House Chronicles and in my opinion the best one. I would recommend reading the first two books “The Beast House” and “The Cellar” before reading this one because they explain a lot about the history of the beast house and the beasts and although a lot of that information is also mentioned within this book, I found that already having background knowledge of the beast house was very helpful. Because a lot of information about the beast house and it’s victims is told here, you will already know the fate of a lot... Read review

How did she do it
Review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them - J.K. Rowling by NMOddy

Advantages: Very informative and intriguing. Makes you think, gives you a lot of information.
Disadvantages: It is not long enough - it is very good but not very long.

...Fantastic Beasts tells us all about magizoology (the study of fantastic beasts) and the 75 different species of beasts. After the introduction we get a section entitled What is a Beast? Then she tells us of the difference between a beast, a beign and a spirit. We also read about early attempts to define a beast by the Head of The Wizards' Council and then the second attempt to define a beast, both which ended in disaster. Followed by how the argument was finally settled. In the next section it tells us why muggles (non-magical people) don't see these beasts. And we learn a lot more. It tells us about magical beasts in hiding; safe habitats for these beasts; controls on selling and breeding and why magizoology matters. The next section is only one page long and called Ministry of Magic ( the governing body of magic in Britain... Read review

beast is best
Review of Beauty And The Beast (Animated) by clairecowley

Advantages: If you feel down it will always make you smile
Disadvantages: not being able to buy it in the shops

...Walt Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is definatly the all time best animated film that has ever been made. I can't think of another that could beat it. The story is off Belle, the girl who is different from the others. She refuses the advances of the local dim witted beefy hero Gaston in favour of true love and romance which she has only read about. She meets the Beast after going to her fathers rescue. He has been taken prisoner in an enchanted castle. Belle swops places with him and becomes the 'guest' of the beast. The castle is full of talking furniture, cutlery and crockery who put on a fantastic show by singing and dancing. While at the castle Belle grows to be very fond of the beast and everyone hopes she will love him before the petals fall off the magic rose so they can all become human again. The beast shows Belle a magic mirror... Read review

A feast of Beast
Review of Exmoor Beast by bluefrog199

Advantages: tasty and strong
Disadvantages: scary for ladies

...Take it from me: there's nothing in this world guaranteed to make you feel more of a man than drinking a pint of Beast. Just look at the name! Beast. BEAST! GRRRR. It doesn't matter how much of a weedy, pathetic wimp you are, once you have a solid pint of this lovely dark ale in your sweaty hand, you will feel able to wrestle a grizzly bear to the floor and stamp on it till it's dead. You won't be able to, of course. Beast isn't magic. The grizzly would rip you to shreds. But it's all about the feeling of testosterone-fuelled invincibility that it induces. I had my first pint of Beast last week at the Wetherspoon's in South Croydon. It was a Sunday afternoon, and it had been a heavy weekend of drinking. And I mean HEAVY. About as heavy as a whale, probably. Lesser men than me would have plumped, in such situations, for something light... Read review

Magical
Review of Beauty And The Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (Animated) by sarah.shipley

Advantages: great for kids
Disadvantages: story bot as good as the original

...With me and my son being big Disney fans and loving Beauty and the Beast we decided to buy this video. I wasn't sure whether or not this continued from the original film but it turns out to be another story altogether. There are some of the original characters Mrs Potts and Chip, Cogsworth and Lumiere as well as a whole new cast. It is Chirstmas time and Belle wants to decorate the castle with a tree and all its trimmings but the beast is very much against this (following a bad childhood). She asks all the others to help her and surprise the Beast, however Forte (evil pipe organ) over hears her plans and trys to put a stop to them and to keep the Beast as far away from Belle as he can. Belle gets into trouble once she goes looking for a tree as she has ignored the orders of the Beast and gone outside of the castles grounds. I did... Read review

Beauty and the Beast
Review of Beauty And The Beast (Animated) by lainz

Advantages: Songs
Disadvantages: length of movie

...Okay i got a loan of this film from my cousin and when reading the back cover i wasn't so sure i would love this movie and much as other Disney movies like The Little Mermaid and The Jungle Book. The plot of the movie is a old woman comes to a castle one day and asks a young, handsome man to help her, him being selfish and unable to love tells her to go away, later that day the old lady puts a spell on the young man that he has to learn to love by his 21st birthday and by the time a rose given to him by the old lady wilts or he will be a beast forever, then a beautiful young woman with the name of Belle goes in search of her dad who on way to a inventors competition gets lost and finds this castle where a beast lives and holds him captive. Belle enters the castle and eventually finds her dad, when the beast enters and tells Belle... Read review

A good sequel
Review of The Beast House - Richard Laymon by philsammie

Advantages: Continues the story beautifully
Disadvantages: If you didn't like the first one, you won't like this!

...The Beast House is the sequel to The Cellar, and is a sequel in the truest sense - it continues the story of the original, rather than just being a rehash to cash in on the first book's success. It's difficult to describe the plot without giving away the ending of The Cellar, but it involves another group of people's encounter with the Beast House at Malcasa Point. Laymon has clearly made an effort to make this novel dovetail with the first, and he succeeds well, for example making one of the stars of The Beast House a friend of an apparently incidental character who dies at the beginning of The Cellar. This gives the novel a feeling of being an ongoing story, rather than a seperate book. If you liked The Cellar, then this is a must read.... Read review

What an enchanting love story....
Review of Beauty And The Beast (Animated) by moonlightmist

Advantages: Brill film, great acting, GOOD SINGING......
Disadvantages: none..........

...I'm gonna receive negative thoughts about that statement, but think about it's competition, "Fantasia" gets dull and repeatative, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" sends a bad message about a woman's position in life, "Aladdin" had too much of poor humor....this is the ultimate in animated films, story, soundtrack, etc. The plot is: It starts off with a young prince, who was mean and selfish. An old lady came to his door and asked if he'd buy a rose from her, and he treated her very cruel. She then placed a curse on him and his entire castle, that they'd lose their true appearance, and wouldn't go away until someone fell in love with the prince, who had been turned into an ugly, fearul looking beast. We then go some whiles into a small medievel French town, and meet the beautiful, smart, adventurous Belle. She is the daughter... Read review

Absurd video nasty
Review of Absurd by pizzacat

Advantages: Very gory and pretty creepy
Disadvantages: Terrible acting, plot n just about everything else!

...This cheeky little shocker from director Joe D’amato is a semi-sequel to the universally hated anthropophagous beast (aka the grim reaper). George Eastman returns looking a little less beast-like to play the unstoppable killing machine that is the anthropophagous beast. The beast has a remarkable medical condition which means that his wounds heal remarkably fast. The only way to Kill him is to go for the brain. After disembowelling himself trying to climb over a gate (don't you just hate it when that happens), the beast stumbles into a house literally spilling his guts all over the carpet. From here the beast is taken to hospital, where his wounds heal remarkably quickly due to his condition. Having woken from the anaesthetic he is very pissed off so goes on a rampage butchering anyone that gets in his path. Which means lots of gore... Read review
