It saved my head!
Review of Bell Triumph by
kernowfind
Advantages: It does exactly what it is designed to do and well!
Disadvantages: none that I experienced
...This is a product that has probably saved my life! I recently came off my bike and landed head down. The helmet was destroyed but I survived without even a concussion. To put this in perspective I did smashed my shoulder and collar bone to the point where it is going to take six months to heal assuming I don't need further surgery, flayed the skin from my back and bruised the backs of my ankles, but no head wounds. What more do you want from your helmet?
The reasons I choose the Bell Triumph were fairly simple, for the price it looks pretty good, it's light at 250g and the front vents have mesh covers, which if you have ever had a wasp trapped against your head for any amount of time you will appreciate!...

Understated excellence
Review of Arai SV by
dobieg
Advantages: Proper fit, well made, good finish
Disadvantages: non-removable liner
...fine front to back, but you could get a gloved hand up the side, OR fit me fine at the sides, and are far too tight front to back.
In my time, I've had helmets from Shoei, Bell and Nirto, none fitted me as well as Arai.
The Arai fits me almost perfectly, which, by my reckoning, is all I need to know!
The SV has rather fiewer ventilation holes than many helmets - biking in all weathers in Scotland, that generally isn't a problem!
The visor fits snugly, and clicks down firmly. When open, it tends to stay up as well.
The chin strap has 'double D' rings, so it's both easy to fasten and undo, and keeps the tension (I really DON'T understand why anyone would ever want to use 'seatbelt' buckles - hard to fit, and often 'nip' you when fixing - and murderous to undo, especially if your fingers are cold!
The paint finish on my helmet...

Shoei Shows Shoney Shome Shtyle.
Review of Shoei XR900 Chimera TC1 by
peteshone
Advantages: Well made, light, tough, good looking
Disadvantages: Cold in winter with too many drafts, poor visor mechanism
...I'm normally a cheapskate were helmets are concerned. I knock hell out of them, and as a result have always refused to pay more than £150 for one before - that's more than enough to throw away, and even that was painful. I've had Nolan, Bieffe, Bell, and AGV helmets and been generally happy with my lot.
But then I lashed out £4000 on a bike, and the salesman offered an XR900 at a knockdown price as a deal sweetener... so welcome Mr Shone to the world of £300 plus hats.
The XR900 comes in all the standard colours, but the Chimera and one or two other patterns are intended to look custom painted. Mine is red black and white with a gold dragon on the side... very distinctive and slightly oriental looking. Quite cool is the general consensus on the paint job.
The lacquer on the hat is good quality, but like all painted helmets it does...

Spezialized bmx helmet
Review of BMX HelMet by
bmxracer
Advantages: looks/weight/design
Disadvantages: price
...The spezialized bmx helmet is a fullface helmet which can be used for bmxing, mountainbiking and other dangerouse extreme sports. It comes in a variety of sizes eg,s/m/l/xl. It also comes in a variety of colours , red/black/white/blue. It is a very atrractive helmet (styled like a moto cross helmet)and contains a few vents for ventelating the head. It has plenty of padding inside for comfortability and is extremly light for easy movement and monuvrability. This is a great helmet for all levels of rider, especialy expert level. I think this is one of the best helmets on the market.

The Masuri Junior Helmet
Review of Masuri Junior by
Joshhemp
Advantages: Good Protection, Durable
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable
...This helmet is made by a well known and respected brand of helmets. It is a helmet which is worn by many international players, and it is one of the leading brands.
I no longer use this helmet, however it was my first cricket helmet, and i would recommend it to young cricketers.
This helmet served me quite well for 4 years, and it is extremely durable and safe.
The chin-strap for the helmet is easily adjustable, and can fit most sizes. However the helmet is recommended for juniors and it will not properly fit a fully grown adult.
The metal grill, which protects the mouth is also adjustable, with 6 different settings allowing it to be moved up or down, backwards or forwards, to the batsman's preference.
However the inside of the helmet lets itself down, as it is padded with polystyrene, fitted with glue.
Whereas some other...

Watch your head
Review of Masuri Test by
dan7hughes
Advantages: One-size fits all
Disadvantages:
...With guidelines requiring all youngsters to wear a helmet when playing cricket with a hard ball requirement of clubs to own them is greater than ever. The problem of the cost of the helmet and there being different sizes can pose problems.
The Masuri helmet is a one-size fits all helmet. There are a variety of different adjustions possible to allow the helmet to fit all comfortably. This allows a club to buy a helmet knowing that it will fit both their adults and any youngsters playing in the team.
The grill is also adjustable which helps remove complaints of "I can't wear helmets because my vision is obscurred". The helmet fits comfortably and conforms to all safety guidelines....

Must be worn to be believed!
Review of Masuri Test Titanium by
gaddy6
Advantages: Brilliant design, light, strong
Disadvantages: Quite expensive.
...This helmet may be one of the most expensive helmets on the market but it is the most expensive for a reason! I believe the first designs of the helmet were designed by the England test player Robin Smith, with a focus on erradicating any blind spots that were always present in older style helmets. And what a success this was! There is a minimal amount of bars making up the grill of the helmet and those that are used are very thin and are little if no distraction for the batsman and there are none of the dreaded black spots where you can't see the ball pitch.
The idea of the titanium grill is also inspired, you are able to bat for long periods of time (not that i tend to!) without getting that pain in your neck with the weight of the helmet and in comparison to other older style, heavier helmets, you literally hardly notice you...

Halfords.....or half lords. (Updated)
Review of Halfords.com by
LUNAH_C
Advantages: Everything from spanner to fluffy dice
Disadvantages: Read the review
...garden concreted enabling him to play outside. This has also meant that the older children who got bikes at Xmas have had theirs put together. On seeing the bells on their bike and his lack of my youngest requested he too have a ding a ling. Doing the usual parent thing we said yes and then hoped he would forget.
A couple of days later Whilst buying some windscreen wipers in Halfords (One thing worth going for, as can be a third of maufacturers prices), my son again piped up about the bell, and knowing he has seen them him previously immediately took me to the section.
We deecided he also needed a helmet as did his older brother who had got a scooter. There was only about 3 bells on offer, fortunately one had a picture of a fire chief on it and my son fell in love. This was priced at £4.99. He also picked out a Bob the Builder helmet priced...

A helmet review funnily enough
Review of Cycling - General by
monk13i
Advantages: General design and comfort
Disadvantages: None came to mind
...I've got a confession to make, this review isn't of the eclipse helmet but of its alternative the "Mojave" incarnation of Giro's helmets. Am I doing this to get more reads? No, in fact I'm not expecting very many because its a pretty specialised product but reads arn't why I'm writing this. I'm writing because I have an opinion on something that I hope at least one person will find useful. Besides I had to write my review here because it didn't have the mojave helmet when I tried a search.
I'm not much of a bike rider, I hadn't ridden my bike ( apart from the odd trip to the shop etc ) for years, that was until about a month ago. I signed up for a sponsored bike ride to raise money for group I volunteer for and I needed a helmet
( 78 miles, was I mad? )
My last bike helmet was a standard red one from when I was about 6. Needless to say...

How to be slimmer, richer and faster
Review of Getting around London by bike by
ImogenW
Advantages: Cheap, fast and good for you
Disadvantages: Can be dangerous
...Now, bear in mind that having had a bike for less than two weeks, I'm a bit of a novice at this cycling in London business. I lived in Cambridge for three years where there's really no other sensible way of getting around, but hung up my helmet when I came to London due to a fear of London traffic. The only thing that got me over that was cycling in Java - if you can deal with Indonesian traffic, London traffic's a walkover.
Having said that, cycling in London is not for novices. London drivers are not patient folk and will cut you very little slack. Many are also not used to looking out for bikes and do daft things like pull out in front of you. And of course, cycling is, like everything else, something with inherent risks.
These, however, can be minimised. Getting a helmet and getting lights should be mandatory - you're daft...
