Black and Decker Hammer Drill
Review of Black & Decker DR402K by  Danieljones

Advantages: Value for Money
Disadvantages: Does not come with drill bits or case

...This hammer drill is great as it good quality and easy to use (a must for me). It has all the standard features you would expect from hammer dills. To prove how good quality Black and Decker are I still have my dads old drill which must be over 10 Years old and its still in working order. I reason I got a new one was that the old one was a bit basic and did not have all the gadgets that the new versions have on them. It was also really good Value for money. I would buy it again... Timesaver!
Review of Dulux Novelty Paint by  TahirMahmood

Advantages: Timesaver, no kneeling to fill up the paint, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Requires paint cartridges rather than own brand, cleaning.

...The Black & Decker Paintmate is a crucial piece of kit. With experience of paint pads, rollers and all the rest, I found the Paintmate easy to use and much better than having to dip into a tin of paint to refill the brush. It comes equipped with a roller and an angled brush, with a locking device to keep the paint flowing without having to keep the button depressed. It works on standard batteries or the Black & Decker rechargable ones. I painted the bedroom in half the time! The only drawback is having to buy refills rather than filling up with your own preferred brand, and of course, cleaning up.... Read review

Ergo, Ergo, Ergo
Review of Everything that starts with T ... by  zoe_page

Advantages: Ergo
Disadvantages: Thus

...Ergo is my new favourite word and when I’m around it comes up in conversation a fair bit. My latest challenge thought is that they’re not “proper” ops ergo when I do one it’ll usually be on the same day as another of mine, so as not to waste a day of writing possibilities. Ergo, though I’ve already done one op today, I’m posting this now too. Now Ergo doesn’t begin with T, but I’ve already used up my E category, so it’s here for Thus. Thus isn’t as nice a word though, ergo I’m still using my ergo references. You still with me? 1. What’s on your duvet cover? At the moment a dodgy flowery pattern. It’s an old quilt cover I brought to use here and chuck rather than bring home when I move back to England. My normal UK ones are blue and sort of geometric... Read review

Dust Buster
Review of Black&Decker Black AND Decker by  damien.gallery

Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: re-charge often

...I have often wondered what these handly little tools are like to use but when I have enquired various people have told me they are useless, so I have not bothered to investigate further. The only use I could see for having one is for cleaning the boot of your car of if you have a pet in the house. While shopping in Woolworths one day I spotted the Black and Decker Dust Buster in a sale for £9.99. The brand name persauded me to buy it as it seemed good value although I had no particular interest in using it. The box has a clear description of the six dustbusters in the serious. There is a 12v, 9.6v,7.2v,4.8v,3.6v and 2.4v. version. MIne is the 2.4 v version. When I opened the box and switched it on there was some power in it, enough to last a few minutes and try it out. It has quite a powerful suction. I used it on the back of trhe TV... Read review

Black & Decker Pivot Vac - an excellent machine
Review of Black & Decker PAV 1205 Pivot AUTO by  JDavidJ

Advantages: Easy to use, empty and maintain - does what it says, and does it well.
Disadvantages: I've not found any yet

...Black & Decker 1205B 12V Pivot Vac. £59.77 from Argos A small cordless vacuum cleaner. It lives in its charger/base, which can be screwed to the wall, but is small enough just to sit on the worktop (unlike other cordless vacs, it stands on its end, so takes up very little space). The base needs to be near a 13A socket, but it doesn't need to be plugged in all the time, as a full charge gives plenty of suck-time (I have not timed it). The instructions (as is Black & Decker norm) are detailed, easy to understand, and helpful. The rotating nozzle may seem like a gimmick, but it makes the device very good at vacuuming on high surfaces (e.g. cupboard tops) and low inaccesable spots. There are two speeds, but usually the lower one is fine. The spout is telescopic, and there is a little brush that can be clipped into the end... Read review

Screwing Made Easy
Review of Black & Decker 9019K by  polydeuces

Advantages: Quick for big screwing jobs
Disadvantages: Need to ensure accuracy or disaster

...I had always wanted a cordless screwdriver and I recently treated myself to one. I am an enthusiastic though not particularly good do-it-yourselfer and whilst putting a screw in is not the most tiring thing to do all these things add up and anything which can ease the burden is welcome. The Black and Decker cost £34.49 from Argos (Catalogue number 710/8857) which puts it at the top of the price range for such screwdrivers. It comes with a wall mounted charger unit and putting this on the wall was the first job I did with the screwdriver. It also has a neat carry and storage case. There are enough bits included with the screwdriver to do any job you are likely to do. I do have to say though having used the screwdriver you must choose the right bit or the screwdriver will slip off. When it does so and you still have your finger pressed... Read review

more trouble than it's worth
Review of Black & Decker Steam Stripper by  johnt

Advantages: none
Disadvantages: quicker not to use it, very slow and messy

...I bought a Black & Decker wallpaper stripper a few years ago when they first came out. This is an electric stripper that gives steam through many holes on it's underside, like a lrge steamiron. The adverts looked very good, effortless stripping of all wallpapers, having started to redecorate this would be a good buy ? Having used it you are better off sticking to the old fashioned way of water, sponge and scrapper. The steamer needs to be frequently refilled with water, although this is fairly straightforward to do it is heavy when full. The baseplate clogs up with bits of wallpaper and glue so needs to be cleaned quite often. When it is steaming it does not seem to generate enough steam to do the job. I've found it quicker and easier not to use this tool, it's still in the box. Stick to the old methods or get a more powerfull... Read review

Neat edges at last
Review of Black&Decker GL535C by  BigCheese

Advantages: Edging made easy
Disadvantages: Auto line feed not up to much

...Are you tired of getting a bad back from trimming lawn edges, well I was so I invested 30 quid in a Black & Decker strimmer. This model includes an auto feed on the cutting line and an edging facility (basically you can swivell the end through 90 degrees to cut a right angles. This makes trimming the lawn adge a bit easier. The 12m cable is adequate for modest size gardens. Whilst I have been fairly pleased with this product I think the auto line feed isn't up too much - the first line went through in no time because it kept coming out too far and the replacement line doesn't auto feed at all - but this is a minor niggle. The only other thing I would say is that the cutting line is actually quite powerful so becareful not to damage your lawn and mind out for animals and feet.... Read review

Good value saw
Review of Power Devil Circular Saw by  johnt

Advantages: Very good value, spare blade
Disadvantages: quality not too good

...I had wanted a saw with a deeper cut for some diy work. The saw would be used very infrequently so would need to be cheap enough to justify getting it. Homebase stocked a small range of saws, Black & Decker, Bosch & Power Devils. The larger saws ranged from £45 - £130. All had similar features and blade size but the quality of construction did show in the price. Working to a tight budget made the Power Devil my only real option. The cheapest comparable Black & Decker was another £40. The saw has a 184mm blade which gives a cut depth of 55mm. It has adjustable depth and angle of cut. There is a rip fence and provision to fit a dust bag. It also came with a spare blade making it excellant value for money. For £45 it is relatively well made and is fine for occassional use, however the more expensive ones were far better designed and much... Read review
