Even though director Linklater had the role tailor-made for the Tenacious D rocker you’ll wonder if there really was a script at all. ...I really enjoyed this movie, not only when I watched it in the cinema, but also the DVD. Captan Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, really keeps the the audience going with his witty remarks and the well developed character. The movie centers around the Black Pearl and its crew of undead lead by Captain Barbossa. In there search for the last coin of the gold of the Aztecs, they stumble upon a grown up Will Turner, played by Orlando Bloom and his love interest Elizabeth Swan, played by Keira Knightly. This movie is a fast paced action movie in the typical way of Jerry Bruckheimer, with good action sequences, an amazing soundtrack, great location and set pieces. And even if you aren't a fan of pirates you will still enjoy the mix of enjoyable jokes pulled by Jack Sparrow and Will, the romantic interaction between Will and Elizabeth... Read review

...Jack I don’t love him, I don’t even find solace in the bottom of a bottle. He doesn’t even enter my mind until I’m ordering a drink at the bar on a Friday or Saturday night, it may just be me but downing ten lagers would make me balloon and fart until the next night out how uncomfortable. I can sit and enjoy Jack all night “ he will keep me sane until I’m home” now this sounds like I treat Jack as friend he is but one who I don’t see for ages but we pick up where we left off. It is what you call pleasurable enjoyment, Yes he can get you wasted but not if you savour and enjoy the taste and quality. I may be on my own in thinking that there is something trendy in the colour and shape of the bottle its distinctive a square bottle, granted its been copied but nothing beats Jack. The black... That night there is a disturbance in the bay with the arrival of a strange ship- The Black Pearl. The pirates on board are looking for a last piece of pirate gold...that Elizabeth has. They kidnap her and take her on board The Black Pearl. When Will discovers what has happened to Elizabeth, he turns to Jack Sparrow in his cell for information of the ship. After Jack has escaped, together they take over a ship, get together a crew and set off to rescue the beautiful Elizabeth. And so they race to catch up with the cursed pirates aboard The Black Pearl, where Elizabeth is learning of the curse linked to the pirate gold. And I don't think I should tell you any more... Advantages: If you like quick paced horror with a sprinkling of fantasy, its for you
Disadvantages: It doesn't delve far enough into the fantastic to qualify as fantasy, and doesn't get quite horrific enough to be a King horror novel

...I picked up Black House never having read The Talisman and so entered the collaborative world of Peter Straub and Stephen King with no guide, safety line or defibrilator on hand to rescue me if things got scary. Luckily, it never got that serious. Black house is the story of Jack Sawyer, an adult man who is still reeling from the effects a trip to an alternate world called "the Territories" have had on him. Though he's managed to craft a normal life for himself, he is plagues by odd feelings every so often and when those feelings begin manifesting themselves as visions and tangible events, he knows something is happening again. His visions of robin's eggs and feathers coincide with the acts of a serial killer on the prowl in Jack's area of Wisconsin. ...each, which must have been an exhausting and infuriating experience. Once you begin to lose yourself in the beauty and unparalleled majesty of the territories, it really does draw you in and you may find yourself longing for Jack to flip back there from our own dreary little world. These small flaws aside this is a great read, but like nothing the normal fare for Stephen king fans. I believe there is a sequel Black House but I have not managed to read it yet.... Read review
