THE FUNNIEST FILM EVER
Review of Blazing Saddles DVD by
fireman1
Advantages: Funniest film ever
Disadvantages: none
...Gene Wilder is at his comical best in this spoof western. The film is Directed by comic ledgend Mel Brooks, he also stars in the film.
Blazing Saddles is about town called Rock Ridge and a railroad company which want to put the track through the town. The film has racial undertones and is very borderline, But Mel Brookes has done it so cleverly its not offensive, Its just bloody funny.
The rail company keeps killing off all the towns Sherriff's and someone employs (as a last resort) a black guy, This is so funny when he is riding into town on his horse and everyones faces as he comes in, Anyone who has seen the film will know what i mean.
Gene Wilder plays a washed up drunken gunfighter who decides to help the sherriff to clean up the town which includes the dreaded Mungo.
This film is hilarious from beginning to end especially the Baked...

BLAZING SADDLES (1974) [FILM ONLY REVIEW]
Review of Blazing Saddles DVD by
Charles_Strickland
Advantages: Hilarious (if slightly toilet) comedy, good performances
Disadvantages: Indecisive film throughout, cop-out ending
...Mel Brooks' BLAZING SADDLES was released in 1974 and, at the time of this writing, is the highest grossing western ever made; but would there be anything for old masters John Ford and Sergio Leone to worry about?
In a dusty little town where almost everybody shares the same name, trouble is a-brew. A nasty politician-of-sorts, Hedley, has his wide eyes on the town for development, but to do so he has to make the in-bred community leave. So he sends-in his boys who soon go about making the lives of the community hell. When the Sheriff is killed, Hedley convinces the governor to hire a black man as successor, knowing the community's rather jarred and ignorant view of black people will be enough to make them finally leave. The new Sheriff, then, sets up shop in the town jail with only one criminal, but soon the community turns tide on him...

All time great Spoof Western
Review of Blazing Saddles DVD by
jonwhite
Advantages: funny, hillarious, riotously outrageous
Disadvantages: Too short
...Not seen Blazing Saddles ? Why not. This has got to be an all time classic film and should adorn anyone's video or DVD shelf. A Mel Brooks film also starring the man himself has to be amongst if not the greatest film the man has ever produced.
Set in a sleep little town called Rock Ridge this saga tells the story of a rutheless plan to clear the towns folk out of their homes to make way for a railroad. Needless to say the towns folk don't want to budge. The plan to replace the town's sherif with someone totally unaceptable to the people of Rock Ridge back fires big time.
This is a film full of jokes, puns, slapstick and much more. If you wan't a good laugh and a storyline that is too easy to follow then you can't do better than this film.
I love it and frequently watch it again and again....

A comedy western that blows hot and cold
Review of Blazing Saddles DVD by
dreamstar70
Advantages: great script, great gags, acting, good pacing. Brookes at his best
Disadvantages: indifferent ending, surrealist humour wears thin
...Blazing Saddles just about offends everyone whether it be race, people with physical/verbal/mental disability; women, animal lovers and probably one or two others besides. However, the great thing about Mel Brookes' comedies is that any offensive suggestion is subtly implied and directed most pointedly back at the offender rather than the victim in question.
But I greatly suspect that if Mel tried to make this movie in today's politically correct climate the studios would take exception to the majority of its content and as a consequence would end up with a dull, lifeless, sanitized movie.
As it is Blazing Saddles (1974) is a classic comedy, not just for Brookes but for comedy in general. Not only is it very witty with the rapid-fire one-liners, but there's also huge amounts of visual slap-stick, toilet humour (including the infamous...

Best Film of 99!
Review of Guesthouse Paradiso by
jayadkins
Advantages: Too Many to write
Disadvantages: None whatsoever
...What can I say other than the best film of 99, if not the decade! Having been a Rick and Ade fan since they first appeared on the scene - The Dangerous Brothers, The Young Ones, Filthy Rich and Catflap, The Comic Strip, Bottom, etc. I'm a huge fan of the slapstick genre, and I feel that this film fits in perfectly with that genre.
The Nice family are so sweet, and Miss Carbonara is fantastically sexy - ooh that voice!!!!
Rick is fantastically funny, and Ade plays the comedy sidekick fantastically!
The best film of 1999 with the funniest movie segment ever (even funnier than the Blazing Saddles farting sequence), I will always laugh when eddie pops richies bondage crotchless panties!
Excellent...

...comedy - in particular, the best comedy moments in films. In no particular order, we have:
Dialogue from Airplane:
"There's a problem in the cockpit."
"The cockpit? Oh no! What is it?"
"It's the room up front where the pilot sits, but that's not important right now."
Dialogue from Airplane:
"Looks like I chose the wrong day to stop taking amphetamines!"
Dialogue from Ghostbusters (after getting the s*** kicked out of them by Gozer):
"Ray, the next time someone asks you if you're a God, you say YES!"
Dialogue from South Park BLAU:
"Young man, did you just say the Q word?"
Dialogue from Blazing Saddles:
"Meeting is adjourned"
"It is?"
"No, YOU say that."
"Say what?"

Will You Give This Saga An Even Break?
Review of Blazing Saddles DVD by
bazmansealey
Advantages: It's A Laugh A Minute!
Disadvantages: Slightly Weak Finish
...• About Brooks •
In my opinion Mel Brooks is the king of parodies when it comes to the silver screen. Having directed (and usually starring, even if in a cameo role) many films, I believe his 3 most well known films are Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs & Robin Hood : Men In Tights. So, I decided to write a review on Blazing Saddles as I consider it to be his earliest piece of creative genius.
• General Info •
Blazing Saddles is all about a time when the West was wild and political correctness is a century away. The subject of this parody is the old wild west and westerns. The film is set in the late 1800's in America and begins by showing us a group of slave railroad workers. You could say it is racist even from the first couple of minutes, however, because it's a parody and very obviously a comedy I think nearly (if not everyone) would...

Mels Blaze of Glory
Review of Blazing Saddles (Deluxe Box Set) (Wide Screen) by
ian4552
Advantages: so funny you will cry (i did)
Disadvantages: Are the extras worth the extra money
...Blazing Saddles is without doubt the funniest film that Mel Brooks ever made and in my opinion quite possibly the funniest film ever made. In spite of the fact it was made over 30 years ago it still feels as fresh as the first time i saw it.
First of all the plot. Well as expected of Mel its a spoof, A spoof western. Headley Lamarr (Harvey Korman) is the unscruplious developer who is trying to build a railroad. Unfortunately for him the only route it can take is through the town of Rock Ridge. The good Citizens of the town, who for some reason are all called Johnson, dont want to leave. So Lamarr has his sidekick Taggart(Slim Pickens, he should be a porn star with a name like that) try to run the people out by killing the Sheriff, burning crops, looting stores, stampeding people and raping cattle.
The people appeal to the Govenor...

Fart, Fart and Fart
Review of Blazing Saddles (Special Edition) by
christianfilmcritic
Advantages: Hilarious
Disadvantages: None
...lives in the towns Jail. But as time moves on the towns folk begin to warm to Bart's presence as he attempts to deal with the troublesome cowboys who are wreaking havoc. With the aid of the Waco Kid he discovers that it is in fact Hedley Lamarr behind the master plan and sets about trying to save the town from its impending doom.
Opinion
●●●●●●
If "Blazing Saddles" was made today I can only imagine the lambasting it would get for being politically incorrect, with its numerous amount of humour which revolves around race. But that is not to say the film is unbalanced with its approach, although the racial humour does stereotype African Americans, it also portrays the white population as bunch of bigoted racists. On top of this it also stereotypes homosexuals and references so much toilet humour...
