Natty Dread quality Bob Material
Review of Natty Dread - Bob Marley & The Wailers by
moogleman
Advantages: unique version of Talking Blues
Disadvantages: some poor sound quality, some early dull tracks
...Natty Dread....
Front cover: Consists of a pop art style picture of a 23 year old Bob Marley taken in his earlier pre rastafari days when he was mainly a ska singer.
Label: Island/Tuff Gong
Tracks:
1. Lively Up Yourself
2. No Woman, No Cry
3. Them Belly Full (But We Hungry)
4. Rebel Music (3 O'Clock Road Block)
5. So Jah Seh
6. Natty Dread
7. Bend Down Low
8. Talkin' Blues
9. Revolution
10. Am-A-Do (Bonus Track)
I would now like to talk one of the songs within this album, now been a big Bob Marley fan this was one of the latter albums I bought as I was under the impression that I had most of the tracks on it.
How I was wrong, one track on this album is far better than other material I have ever heard, no its not No Woman No Cry, it is in fact Talkin Blues.
This version is completely different to the original,as it has...

Rent a German!
Review of rentagerman.de by
chrisv
Advantages: Shows that Germans do have a sense of humour!
Disadvantages: Anti-Climax...didn't fulfil all the preconceived stereotypes
...The German rental system is great! We rented some for our office and were very surprised at just how well they spoke German!
They are friendly, can be somewhat reserved at times, but in general are the kind of people that will help old ladies across the street and give up their seat on the bus.
The "Free support package" was very helpful on the 4th week, when two of the Germans got a little restless with one of our colleagues, Bob, after he claimed that the first sauerkraut was made in China, about 2,000 years ago, and isn't in fact German. In Bob's defence, the cabbage-pickling idea arrived in Germany in the 16th Century. Whether the Chinese evidence has been tampered with during the cultural revolution is anyone's guess?
Anyway, I strongly recommend this service, although I have yet to try out the business package...

Great album, but why a remastered edition?
Review of Natty Dread [Remastered] - Bob Marley & The Wailers by
jjqburch
Advantages: Great tracks, great lyrics, original, its Bob Marley.
Disadvantages: They only include one extra track. No need for remastering. Its too short.
...This is Bob Marley's third album on the Tuff Gong label and has been digitally remastered and made up to ten tracks with the addition of ‘Am-A-Do’, a track that fans might recognise from the ‘Talkin’ Blues’ album. Natty Dread is the first album to be released after the original the ‘Wailers’ split, leaving Bob to form partnerships with his three backing singers the I-Threes. Released in 1974 after former band members Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh had left, the album was supported by the Natty Dread Tour of USA, Canada and England, including dates at the famous Roxy Theatre in LA and the Lyceum in London.
Natty Dread is a change from the previous ‘Burnin’ and ‘Catch A Fire’ albums with a few lighter tracks to make you smile. Maybe not as groundbreaking as Catch A Fire, the album does contain the studio version of the all time hit ‘No...

A quality duo
Review of Highway 61 Revisited/John Wesley Harding - Bob Dylan by
jamiegiles
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Taking the first, electric side of Bringing It All Back Home to its logical conclusion, Bob Dylan hired a full rock & roll band, featuring guitarist Michael Bloomfield, for Highway 61 Revisited. Opening with the epic "Like a Rolling Stone," Highway 61 Revisted careens through nine songs that range from reflective folk-rock ("Desolation Row") and blues ("It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry") to flat-out garage rock ("Tombstone Blues," "From a Buick 6," "Highway 61 Revisted"). Dylan had not only changed his sound, but his persona, trading the folk troubadour for a streetwise, cynical hipster. Throughout the album, he alternates between druggy, surreal imagery, which can either have a sense of menace or beauty, and the music reflects that, jumping between soothing melodies to hard, bluesy rock. And that is the most...

Introducing Bobby the King
Review of Bob Dylan - Dylan, Bob by
pink
Advantages: Fantastic music, His voice, BOB DYLAN has arrived!
Disadvantages: none!
...'s style really is utterly unique!
Bob wails through this upbeat blues number in a manner that may put some off, but for a lover of raw emotion such as myself it will endear the song and the man to you. He manages to put such emotion through in his singing, and to me that's far more important than what the 'correct' technique is and what the blasted rulebook says. The Bob Dylan revolution is underway and off to a flying start.
The second track on Bob Dylan is 'Talkin' New York' and this is the world's first glimpse of the writing ability of Dylan himself. The title is quite apt as this is a talking blues folk style song about Dylan's experience of the Big Apple. Dylan tells us of his tough time adapting from his country boy roots to the crazy big city. How about one word to sum this song up? Cute! Whilst it talks of tough times and rejection...

The matrix
Review of The Matrix/Matrix Reloaded/Matrix Revolutions (Box Set) by
tinac37
Advantages: great acting, great soundtrack
Disadvantages: 3 is two to many
...Revolutions.
The Matrix
Neo is a guy who never really fitted in, he hadn't many friends and he spent too much tome typing away on his computer so when some one hacks into his computer and tells him he does not belong he willingly believes and accepts that life as we now it, is a lie. We are all in fact plugged into the Matrix, a computer program designed to tell our brains that we are living the live we chose to live when we are actually plugged into a huge machine designed to feed the aliens that have taken over our planet.
Neo brakes free from this Matrix and joins a Gang of revolutionaries lead by Morpheus, who are trying to free people from the Matrix and claim back the planet.
Morpheus, neo and the gang are pursued by agent smith, an alien disguised as a human, who desperately wants to kill them.

A Mini Revolution
Review of Tracy Chapman - Chapman, Tracy by
Metalmorphosis8
Advantages: Touching and original
Disadvantages: Reminds you of Boyzone(!)
...1) Talkin' Bout A Revolution
2) Fast Car
3) Across The Lines
4) Behind The Wall
5) Baby Can I Hold You
6) Mountains O' Things
7) She's Got Her Ticket
8) Why?
9) For My Lover
10) If Not Now...
11) For You
Upon listening to this gem, it’s hard to believe that it was first released almost fifteen years ago, and that would perhaps surprise anyone who had not heard any of Tracy Chapman’s work beforehand. It is also likely that even without knowing about it, you will have heard the most successful (and deservedly so) track on this album. That track being ‘Fast Car’, and without meaning to promote speeding, it feels perfect pumped up to full volume while driving at night time with the orange street lights flickering against the night sky. Beautiful, is the best way to describe the song.
However difficult to follow up...

A Scanner Darkly
Review of A Scanner Darkly DVD by
Lloyd1979
Advantages: Very Stylistic, gerat soundtrack
Disadvantages: difficult to follow
...Having read Philip K Dicks book, A Scanner Darkly, I was eagerly awaiting the film adaptation. Upon hearing that George Clooney had optioned it no less, and that Richard Linklater was down to direct it I was kind of ecstatic. I have a lot of respect for George Clooney, following his efforts to turn out less main stream Hollywood films, in favour of thought provoking and interesting films. So when I heard that Keanu Reeves had go the lead role as Bob Arctor, my heart sank.
To be fair to Reeves, his last couple of films have been stinkers. Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions were not bad down to his acting, more to the clunky direction of the Wachowski Brothers. But the lead character for A Scanner Darkly, in my opinion would always have needed someone who had a half decent range, and not someone who cam across as a bit of an airhead...

Matrix Revolutions -Movie
Review of Matrix Revolutions, The by
tom321
Advantages: The special effects that have never been seen before.
Disadvantages: The story could of been a bit better.
...The matrix revolutions movie was a very well made movie and the Special Effects are outstanding. The movie is the final chapter to the Matrix trilogy and stars Keanu Reeves as Neo. If you are thinking on buying The Matrix Revolutions make sure you have seen The Matrix and The Matrix Reloaded first, that way it will all fit together.
The movie is basically all about a war against machines; Neo must defeat the machines as they are in control of the Matrix.
As long as the machines are in control, the human race will be enslaved in the Matrix providing a source of power to the machines.
To stop this Neo has to go in to the heart of the machines where no other human has ever been, and defeat them saving the last human city “Zion” from destruction.
In doing this Neo then come face to face with a powerful program that tries to kill Neo so...
