These Boots are Made for Walking
Review of Brasher Women's Supalite GTX Leather Boot by
koshkha
Advantages: My feet are in love with these boots
Disadvantages: They're not cheap
...One year without realising what I was letting myself into, I promised my husband a new pair of walking boots for his birthday. I was expecting to pay £60-£70 but bless him, he fell in love with a pair of Brasher Supalites and I didn't have the heart to say no. With a 10% discount they cost me £108 and he assured me they were worth every penny.
Bad Boot History
****************
At this stage I'd been fighting the need to buy proper boots. As a student I studied geology and spent a lot of wet miserable weeks plodding over mountains with wet feet. In my book, proper boots weighed a tonne and took a lot of looking after. We used to do the most bizarre things to make them fit and to soften the leather - sitting with your boots on in bowls of hot water, putting lots of Nikwax onto the wet boots so the nasty stuff got sucked into the pores...

Review of Harry Hall Ladies Faro Boots by
spottydog2
Advantages: Comfortable.
Disadvantages: Sole coming away.

Harry Hall Ladies Faro Boots.

The boots are available in brown or black, mine are black. They are constructed from waterproof leather, almost with the appearance of moleskin. The sole is vibram whatever that is, it is a thick rubber type sole offering good grip. The boots have a long zip at the back which is easy to undo and do up. It also has an adjustable fastening above the zip. The calf has an elasticated insert making it suitable for a variety of calf fittings, especially medium to wide.
Harry Hall Faro Boots cost around £84...

Imperial Leather Fresh Boost
Review of Imperial Leather Shower Gel Fresh Boost by
vx220ts
Advantages: Not many
Disadvantages: Boring
...Creme which is in a turquoise bottle, Energising Shower Gel in a dark blue bottle, Indulging Shower Gel in an orange bottle, Wake Up Shower Gel in yellow, Revitalising Shower Gel in light blue and Nourishing Shower Creme in a white bottle. So as you can see there is now a big range to choose from.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
I normally buy my Imperial Leather shower gels from Tesco or ASDA with my weekly supermarket shop. The older brand cost between £1.50 and £2.50 I cant remember the exact price as it has been a while since I bought it. It was also available in Boots, Superdrug, Semi Chem and many other independant chemists, as is the new updated range.
SMELL
The smell of the original product was a bit boring, it was not a bad smell it just wasnt a nice smell. It didnt linger on my skin for long after my shower which is what I like...

You will definatly be storming ahead in these!
Review of Peter Storm Women's Skiddaw Leather Boot by
redhotfeet
Advantages: (+)Waterproof, (+) Breathable, (+) Sturdy, (+) Good quality, (+) Well Priced
Disadvantages: (-) Leather boots need taking care of
...I have currently had this type of walking boot for just over a year now. These boots have been my secret success tool to completing my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition. Through camping with snow on top of our tent and under our boots, to soaking wet bogs, springs, rocks, well, most things really! I had a fantastic expedition which was helped by numerous practice hikes with my team, best mate, scouts, the family, my boyfriend, most people got involved really to help me along with my training!
**********Description**********
The boot is made from dark brown real leather as the main boot with softer light brown leather around the top edge. The non-slip sole is made from Vibram. After many hikes and my 85km hike the sole has hardly worn away. Many times I slipped on wet rocks due to the weight of my bag and fell many times...

Fabric & Leather Waterproofer!
Review of Nikwax Abric & Leather Proof by
vk-dream
Advantages: Does what it says on the bottle.
Disadvantages: n/a
...to use, I personally find that it doesn't last long but that is more to do with the fact that I have to clean and re-proof my partners Gore-Tex and leather combination boots about 3 times a week to keep them looking and feeling great for his job. So far, so good....

* Boot sale site perhaps? . .
Review of Traditional Site Boots by
smudgeybabes
Advantages: Toe protection and comfort.
Disadvantages: None.
...Traditional site boots.
These are good basic boots, with steel toe caps for safety. They are of course weather-resistant, being made from nubuck and have anti-slip rubber soles.
Nubuck is a buzzword we keep hearing these days, it is just a top grain type of rawhide leather which has been sanded or buffed on the grain side, to give a slight nap of short fibres, this produces a velvet-like surface. This finish is resistant to wear, and can be left natural or dyed, although it is usually dyed. Nubuck was first used by cowboys because it was light and comfortable.
Nubuck is similar to suede, but finer. It is different because suede is created from the inner side of a hide, whereas nubuck is created from the outer side of a hide, if that makes sense. This gives it more strength and thickness, along with a finer grain. It tends...

leather boot anyone?
Review of Angus Steakhouse, Aberdeen, London by
ShoeLace
Advantages: comfy red booths
Disadvantages: bad food at premium prices
...from the same bottle. He took my flat coke away. He brought me back a whole new and excitingly fresh flat coke (with a very, very thin straw in it). I began to worry about spit in my food. Darling husband suggested it might add flavour as I was not having sauce on my steak. I was starting to lose my enthusiasm for the restaurant.
I ordered my steak 'well done' (I know I shouldn't – for fear of reprisals from the cook – but I like it that way…usually.) My steak arrived (with at least half an ice-burg lettuce shredded and scattered around it). It looked like steak. It smelled like steak. I tried to cut a piece off to see if it tasted like steak, but my knife was blunt and I am fairly sure that my steak was actually a piece of leather boot. I managed to hack a piece off. Yep, it was a leather boot. I began to wish someone HAD spit in my food...

These boots were made for working...
Review of Magnum Patrol Boots by
StedicUK
Advantages: Comfortable and durable
Disadvantages: Expensive; No Steel Toe Caps
...I have had my Magnum boots, the Patrol version, for approximately twelve months, wearing them for approximately 40 hours every week at work. Before these boots I had a cheaper pair of non-branded boots which last two months before they scuffed beyond repair, the soles came loose and the laces broke.
Magnum boots are described by the manufacturer as the first choice for emergency service personnel, including the police and ambulance services. I use my boots at work with the ambulance service, working long twelve hour shifts - so a good pair of boots is a must.
When you first put on a pair of Magnums they do not seem to differ from standard boots - they have the usual reinforced toecaps, standard lacings and leather outers. When you first start moving however you notice how light they are, you feel more like you are wearing a pair...

Imperial leather - don't shower with it!
Review of Imperial Leather Invigorate FoamBurst Gel by
yummy.mummy
Advantages: Great, invigorating, relaxing
Disadvantages: Bit more expensive than I would like
...it into your body whilst under the shower water. This way you are also getting an invigorating scrub come massage at the same time.
The appearance of the can is attractive, with green colour dominating and the Imperial Leather logo across the top half. After reading the small print so I could look at reviewing it I can happily say it is recycleable as it is made from Aluminium. This will certainly be taken down to the recycling depot. There are also three choices to choose from, depending on what type of scent you prefer.
I bought Imperial Leather Foamburst Gel on a buy one get one free offer. So I paid £2.99 for them, and I just finished my second one. Normally the 200ml can comes in around the £2.99 mark - but I have found that if you look around in places like Boots, Superdrugs and large markets, then you may be able to find a special...

Review of Old Macs Multi Purpose Horse Boots by
sunnyfox
Advantages: No need for metal shoes
Disadvantages: No information leaflet in the box
...Humans have had them for a long time, and now horses can as well. What am I talking about? Expensive trainers of course! You may think that horses wear metal shoes, and this is true for many, but what you may not know is that the current trend toward keeping horses in a more natural way has led to a lot of people ditching the shoes and keeping them barefoot. I am one of these people, but wanted the best of both worlds for Rosie (if you don’t already know, my New Forest pony) - barefoot in the field but also with protection for her feet when we go out for a ride. It is really not worth having metal shoes on her feet all the time, as I only get to ride two to three times a week.
That is what led me to buy Old Macs, a boot designed to replace metal shoes. The inventor of these boots is David MacDonald, a farrier who came across...
