Good looks shame about demise
Review of Breville Classique Cordless Jug Kettle by NormanB

Advantages: Stylish, quick boil
Disadvantages: Short Life

...I bought the Breville Classique (KT6) from COMET on the 30 August 2001 for what I considered was a fair price (£36) considering its looks and features. The quite fetching chromed stainless steel body looked a treat in our kitchen (which has stainless appliances) and as we live in a hard water area the scale filter is a noce little touch - shame it is so flimsy as it broke after about 6 months. It has a quickboil (3KW) element and does what you expect in that department. If you do buy I wish you luck - mine died (element failure) before the 2 year point and the kettle only carries a 1 year guarantee. COMET did not want to know and BREVILLE were not interested. In discussions with BREVILLE they said that they expected the kettle to last around 4 or 5 years but would not stand by that by offering me a replacement at half the retail price... Read review

Unsafe kettle
Review of Breville JK144 S/S Spectra by ukangell

Advantages: keep hot button.
Disadvantages: poor safety - the lid pops open when in mid boil!

...I bought this kettle as I liked the look of it with it's changing colour but that is all that it is good for. This product is very dangerous. The lid of the kettle pops open on boiling. I returned it to breville and they sent me another one. The same thing happened again. THIS IS NOT A SAFE PRODUCT. It has ruined my kitchen upboards and has scolded me with hot water. I believe that this product should be RECALLED! The boil is too long and the lid doesn't shut properly so that this, in my opinion, makes this product exceptionally unsafe. Apart from changing the kettle, Breville or pulse products, do not want to know. Stay away from this product at all costs! If the lid on my now, 3rd kettle pops open i'll be contacting trading standards!... Read review

Breville Breadmaker
Review of Breville BR8 by drow22

Advantages: Good instruction book and easy to use
Disadvantages: large and a little bulky

...I bought a breville breadmaker as I wanted to be able to make my own bread free of additives. The breville bread maker comes with a comprehensive instruction and reciepe book. Also with the bread maker comes a beaker for measuring out the water and a spoon that measures a tablespoon at one end and a teaspoon at the other. The bread maker can make different size loaves and the reciepe book gives the amounts needed. You can also choose the type of crust you require it has three settings. I have always used the crustiest setting, as in a breadmaker it's never as crusty as the oven. To make bread in the breadmaker for the reciepes you will need butter, salt, yeast, milk powder, water and strong flour. The recieps that come with it tell you the order in which to place your ingredients. The Breville breadmaker will do all different kinds... Read review

BREVILLE KT17 ELECTRIC KETTLE
Review of Breville KT17 by mars7

Advantages: Soft feel handle, fast boil and easy clean stainless steel.
Disadvantages: Fiddly filler top, Noisy and fiddly to fit filter.

...The Breville kt17 electric kettle " classique " is classed as a traditional style. 3KW fast boil which it definitely is. 1.7 litre capacity with rear water gauge window which is easy to read. Inside there is a bright red full marker limit. Concealed heater element as all kettles with this system seems to be very noisy. If its next to a radio you won't be able to hear it , unless you turn up it real loud .The best part of the concealed element system is its good for hard water areas. The lid is a bit stiff to remove but i found you can fill the kettle though the spout but very slowly. The stainless steel is easy to clean the outside. Inside the removable filter is fiddly to replace after cleaning with a soft bush i.e tooth brush. The inside in a hard water area you will get a build up of loose lime scale which is very difficult... Read review

Breville BR.JK98
Review of Breville BR.JK98 by silvie21

Advantages: Lightweight, stylish and trendy
Disadvantages: Fiddly to fill from a water jug

...The Breville BR.JK98 is a stylish kettle, with a very modern look of a mainly stainless steel chrome body with a black plastic handle, lid and base. Its a good combination of colours and goes well in my kitchen. It is one of the lightest chrome kettles on the market, as I have difficulty carrying heavy items I searched out the lightest I could find. It has a full 360 degree rotation on the base, enabling great ease of use for either left or right handed people. Being a cordless kettle this gives an easier use as you're not trailing the cord over the work top. The cord is contained within the base of the kettle, and there is a generous length that stretches the full width of the work top, enabling use a fair distance away from the plug sockets. I fill the kettle from a water jug and I found the narrow top of the kettle difficult... Read review

toaster to the rescue
Review of Breville TR40 by summah07babe

Advantages: looks and taste's great
Disadvantages: takes up alot of room

...this is what a Breville TR40 is in a detailed point of veiw,, It has a flat, non-stick, bottom hot plate which is what you put your sandwich on flat, non-stick, top hot plate which is connected to the bottom one with a floating hinge to open up and down. This means that it automatically adjusts to the thickness of your sandwich, without pressing too hard and squeezing all the filling out as that is really anoying. The operation of the Breville TR40 is pretty simple all you have to do is plug it in and away you go .... whats even more great is that the price is really quite low and affordible and you can use it as another wedding list gift. Basically I did a bit of research and discovered this is the toaster most grilled bread fans like. Its true to say it make superb tosties and it can be used to cook other stuff too. But it takes up... Read review

Brushed Steel, polished performance.
Review of Breville Breville by HellsBells67

Advantages: Fairly light, comfortable to lift, quick boiling, stylish looking
Disadvantages: Noisy, plastic taste in the water when new

...I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to find a brushed steel kettle that I liked the look of but was also comfortable to lift when full - eventually I found the Breville JK71. It's 1.5l so not the biggest of kettles, but then it is still comfortable for me to lift when full which many of the bigger kettles aren't. It's cordless and has rapid-boil plus a pretty blue-lit water gauge which lights up when it's boiling. It's fairly quick to boil - true to it's description, and very stylish to look at (nice and simple lines). There are a couple of negatives. Firstly, it takes a long time for the plastic taste to go away when you boil the water. But then again, that's the same for many other new kettles. The other negative is that I find it quite noisy - particularly as I have an open-plan kitchen. However bearing in mind both... Read review

Breville Grill
Review of Breville HG21 HEAL by isthereanynamethathasntbeentaken

Advantages: Size is large enough to cook two-four meals in one go
Disadvantages: Attention to cleaning required to keep it looking good

...My husband brought me this as a Christmas present and now we use it most nights to cook anything from vegetables to sausages and bacon to steaks and even bread rolls (Put them on after cooking the meat and they heat up very quickly and absorb the left over flavours!) This product comes with a guide on how long to cook different foods for and at what temperature etc, I have refereed to this only once as it's very easy to check on the food as it cooks., however, it is very useful in illustrating the full range and variety of foods that can be cooked using the Breville Grill. One big bonus for me is the size of the grill, I can cook two descent sized steaks in one go (or eight sausges) this means I can make everyone's meals at the same time, something which you can't do with the smaller grills. The temperature control dial is very simple... Read review

Breville JK98 - Classique Collection
Review of Breville BR.JK98 by Jenb6jf

Advantages: Fast Boiling Time
Disadvantages: Very hot to touch

...This is only going to be a short review, because you cant talk forever about a kettle. Especially the breville JK98. I will start off with all the technical bits. It has a 360 degree rotation base, a 3KW fast boil element and a 1.7 litre capacity. As there is no picture i will try my best to explain how the JK98 looks. Well...its black and stainless steel. Its big fat and round at the bottom, and the opposite at the top. Infact its so thin at the top compared to the bottom, the lid can be very awkward to open. It fits the name '' jug '' . It also has a big black handle, thats doesnt perticularly fit to the hand. If you happen to acciddently touch the stainless steel part of the body, it is extemely hot when just boiled. It is a heavy kettle, let alone when its full of water. Last but not least ours seems to shoot water from... Read review
